Chapter 76: Chapter 76: A Request

"Who are you, and how did you even get up here?!"
A meeting this important among the gods was, of course, heavily guarded. Once the assembly began, no one—not even another god—was permitted to enter.
To the assembled deities, this young man who had just barged in was a complete stranger. Clearly, he wasn't a god.
If he wasn't a god… then was he an adventurer?! An adventurer crashing the divine assembly?! What had his Familia's god been teaching him?!
While the gods were busy frowning in displeasure and speculating, one familiar with the intruder suddenly cried out in shock.
"Yoru?! What the hell are you doing here?!"
"Hmm? Loki, you know him?"
"Don't tell me he's from the Loki Familia?"
"Completely out of line!"
The gods burst into chatter, but Loki quickly waved them down to restore order.
"Are you all idiots? This is the guy you were gossiping about earlier—the one who confessed to my Riveria."
"Ohhh?!"
With that revelation, the entire hall was filled with newfound amusement. The gods turned to Yoru with keen interest, curious as to why he'd come.
"He must've been heartbroken after Loki broke up their relationship and came to confront her personally, right?"
"Brave kid! I like him! Do your best!"
"Wanna consider me instead? There's plenty of fish in the sea—you don't need to hang yourself from one tree!"
Yoru, who had mentally prepared himself for the wrath of the gods, found himself momentarily stunned by their unexpected responses.
Wait… are all the gods in this world this ridiculous?
What was the point of arguing with this bunch of clowns?
A wave of helplessness washed over Yoru. For a moment, he didn't know what to say or do.
Loki, meanwhile, clicked her tongue in irritation—not because the gods were being silly, but because this behavior was typical. Though their time in the mortal realm had worn away much of their dignity, gods were still gods. They could be serious when their own interests were at stake.
But right now? They were just here for entertainment. This situation had nothing to do with their own Familias, and the idea of watching the prestigious Loki Familia become a joke was just too delicious to pass up.
"You bastards! Stop making things worse and shut the hell up if you don't know what's going on!"
Loki shouted in frustration, but the gods paid her no mind. Their raucous laughter and teasing continued, and the hall was filled with a playful atmosphere.
"Alright, alright. That's enough messing around," one of the male gods finally spoke, his voice echoing through the chamber with authority. "But breaking into a divine assembly is still a serious offense. Whether it's this boy or his goddess Hestia, someone will be held accountable."
"Jokes aside, the meeting must go on. Get rid of him—we're about to begin the naming ceremony."
Another god chimed in.
But no one moved.
After all, this hall was filled only with gods. In the mortal realm, they were no stronger than regular people. No one was going to get up to forcibly remove Yoru.
And judging by the lack of response from the guards outside, it was safe to assume Yoru had already handled them.
"Ahhh, why be so heartless?" came a sultry voice. "The very boy you were all gossiping about just showed up in person. Shouldn't we at least hear him out? Maybe he has something enlightening to say."
A faint, intoxicating fragrance wafted through the hall as a silver-haired goddess appeared behind Yoru. With practiced intimacy, she wrapped her arms around him, pressing her chest firmly against his back.
Freya leaned her head over Yoru's shoulder, a seductive smile on her lips. Both gods and goddesses alike found themselves momentarily entranced.
Freya's beauty knew no bounds. Her allure and charisma could ensnare any being—mortal or divine.
Loki, still standing at the podium, furrowed her brows. Her expression darkened.
Freya… don't tell me the one you've set your eyes on is Yoru?
"I think Freya makes a fair point," another male god spoke up with a grin. "We should give this brave young man a chance. Go ahead, kid—tell us what you came here for. If you're here to declare war on the Loki Familia in the name of love, we'll all be your witnesses!"
The word "war" made every god in the room pause for a moment.
"Declare war on the Loki Familia?"
"A War Game, huh… Now that would be fun to watch."
"How long has it been since anyone challenged Loki Familia to a War Game? Or since they lost one, for that matter?"
"Come on, are you declaring war or not? We'll back you as witnesses!"
The hall erupted again with excitement, the gods egging Yoru on. Loki, standing off to the side with her arms crossed, stared him down with intense unease.
Don't you dare do something stupid, brat…
But then—
"No," Yoru said calmly. "I will not declare war on the Loki Familia. I won't use such means to force the girl I love to leave her Familia."
He smiled gently as he looked around at the gods, his voice unwavering.
"I came here today for just one reason: to ask you all to abolish a certain rule—the rule that prohibits marriage between members of different Familias."
The hall instantly fell silent.
Even Freya, still behind him, froze in surprise at his bold declaration.
Abolish the rule prohibiting inter-Familia marriage?!
Was this a joke? If that rule were removed, everything would fall into chaos!
Forget the issue of children. What about the adventurers themselves? If a couple from two different Familias got married, which Familia would they belong to?
Marriage meant living together—but a Familia was also a family, one that lived and operated together.
Would married adventurers be forced to leave their Familias to live independently?
Allowing inter-Familia marriage would create endless complications. That's exactly why the rule existed—to avoid these problems entirely.
