"I'm sorry, Yoru-sama… it's my fault you got dragged into this."

As the swarm of Murder Ants gradually surrounded them, a bitter smile formed on Lili's face.

"Before you apologize, can you at least tell me—who exactly are these people?"

Yoru gently patted her head as he asked.

"They... they're from the Soma Familia... and that includes me too."

Lili spoke slowly, closing her eyes as painful memories surged forth like a rising tide.

Although the Soma Familia was one of the major Familia in Orario, everyone in it was nothing short of a lunatic—a mob of money-obsessed madmen.

They had gathered for one reason: Soma's divine wine. They would stop at nothing, do anything, just for another taste of that heavenly liquor.

In order to survive in such an environment, Lili had to earn money. But as a supporter, she was constantly bullied and falsely accused by adventurers, never receiving the rewards she deserved.

And back in the Familia? If a weak member managed to earn money, it would be stolen from them anyway.

Lili gave up her title as a Familia member, pretended to be a normal person, and finally found a job, gaining a fleeting moment of peace. But it didn't last long. The worst happened—her happiness was shattered by "comrades" from the Soma Familia.

Somehow, they found out where she lived. Adventurers, drunk on the lure of Soma's wine, stormed her home, robbed her, and wrecked the entire place.

The kind, elderly couple who ran the flower shop—once warm and welcoming—kicked her out on the spot. The way they looked at her, as if she were filth… she could never forget those eyes.

No one to rely on, nowhere to go—that was the pitiful reality of the girl named Lili.

"For money… they'll do anything. Even throw away their own lives without a second thought."

The Murder Ants closing in grew more numerous, yet the three adventurers remained motionless and calm.

Lili was the only one who truly understood the madness of those bound by Soma's wine—those whose obsession with money had consumed their sanity.

"Done talking? Be good now and hand over everything you've got—your stuff, your valis. You wouldn't want to be surrounded by those things while dealing with us, would you?"

There were four entrances to this chamber. Three were already blocked by the adventurers. The last one… was now being flooded by monsters.

"If you hate Soma that much… how about joining my Familia?"

"…Huh?"

Lili couldn't react in time. Yoru continued with a smile.

"Join Hestia Familia. Be my companion."

Lili was almost touched—until he added the second part, and she immediately rolled her eyes.

"As you can see, I really need someone to help me attract monsters."

"You two bastards—are you planning to die with us?!"

The middle-aged beastman, leader of the three adventurers, was starting to panic. He wasn't afraid of death—but that didn't mean he wanted to die.

All he wanted was to scare Yoru into handing over his stuff.

But if they kept dragging this out, they'd all end up as a monster buffet.

"What, getting scared now? Maybe you should've thought about the consequences before you pulled this stunt."

Yoru's calm, composed smile only further enraged the beastman.

"You damn bastard, you've run out of magic, haven't you? That's why you've been standing there doing nothing! After you give us your stuff, make yourself useful and cover our escape!"

The three adventurers charged toward Yoru. Lili stepped forward to block them, pulling out a longsword from beneath her cloak. It radiated a strange light.

"A m-magic sword?!"

The three men recoiled in shock. A magic sword could unleash magical attacks without chants—but their durability was extremely limited. Most only had a few uses at most.

"Don't come any closer! Or I'll take you all down with me!"

Her shoulders trembled, but she still tightly gripped the sword and pointed it at the three men in front of her.

"What kind of power could a brat like you have in a sword anyway? Maybe enough to kill a goblin, tops. Hey, Ox—go get her!"

The beastman grabbed the companion next to him and hurled him at Lili.

"N-No, stay away!"

Lili screamed and closed her eyes. A flash of blinding light burst from the magic sword.

"GUAAAAHHHH!!!"

The adventurer screamed as his body was scorched black and collapsed.

"B-Boss, what the hell are you doing?!"

"If you know I'm the boss, then die for me!"

The beastman grinned wickedly and hurled his second companion at her.

Just like the first, he too was struck by the sword's magic and fell with a scream.

At the same time, the glow from Lili's magic sword faded completely.

"Ha… haha, just as I thought. Even if you have a magic sword, you only had a few charges left."

Damn… What now?!

Lili dropped the now-useless sword and stumbled backward—right into Yoru.

"Yoru-sama… looks like we're going to die together. It's all my fault… I dragged you into this."

"If you really wanted to harm me, wouldn't you have just led me straight into their ambush?"

Yoru chuckled softly, ruffling her hair before stepping forward and looking at the grinning beastman.

"Don't worry. Just like before… I'll take care of this mess. And this time, you'll join the Hestia Familia, alright?"

"Cut the crap! You're already running on fumes, aren't you?!"

The beastman roared and charged at him. Yoru calmly raised a single finger.

A wave of murderous cold surged through the cavern. Lili instinctively shivered and hugged herself.

The next moment—

The entire cavern turned into a frozen world.

The charging beastman, along with all the Murder Ants screeching nearby—everything stopped, frozen solid.

"Dust to dust, ash to ash… disappear along with that which you so obsess over."

Yoru whispered softly, then waved his hand.

The countless ice sculptures in the cavern shattered instantly—scattering into glittering flakes.

"…Beautiful."

Watching Yoru's figure standing amid the flurry of icy fragments, Lili couldn't help but whisper in awe.

For a moment, even the cold was forgotten.

Tears rolled down the corners of her eyes—tears of joy, celebrating her rebirth and the place where she finally belonged.
