The sky was shrouded in darkness.

The eastern horizon had yet to welcome the dawn, with night and morning teetering at that vague boundary between the two.

Because he was too excited, Yoru had arrived at the city wall quite early.

Ais wasn't there—only Riveria stood before him.

"Huh… where's Miss Ais?"

Though he was secretly happy about this, Yoru still put on a confused expression and asked.

"Ais got caught up with our goddess. Loki's been clinging to her non-stop ever since she leveled up. Reaching Level 6 really made her ecstatic."

"Oh? So Ais really has reached Level 6 already?"

Yoru wasn't particularly surprised. After all, she was the genius known throughout all of Orario. She might even be the fastest adventurer in history to reach Level 6.

"Well, it was definitely thanks to Ais's own effort too. But let's not talk about that—our time's limited, so let's begin."

The fact that Riveria and Ais were secretly training Yoru was something they kept hidden from the rest of their Familia. If discovered, it would surely create a lot of complications.

Not to mention Riveria herself felt uneasy about it. If anyone found out about her relationship with Yoru, it would be a disaster.

After all, the rule that members of different Familias cannot marry or date wasn't just Loki's whim—it was the collective will of the gods. The consequences of breaking that rule were unimaginable.

Solving the problem would've been simple: either Riveria or Yoru could just leave their Familia.

But obviously, neither of them was willing to make that choice.

"Yoru, how much do you know about magic?"

Without wasting time, Riveria quickly began Yoru's magic lesson.

"Magic…?"

Yoru frowned slightly. He had no idea how to answer that question.

"Magic is the manifestation of elemental power in the environment, activated through one's internal mana. Fire, water, for example."

As she spoke, Riveria slipped naturally into the role of a teacher—something she was already accustomed to in the Loki Familia. She raised her hand, conjuring flickers of red and blue in her palm, showing them to Yoru.

"Magic comes in many elemental attributes. The most common ones are the four basics: wind, fire, water, and earth. But building upon these are many more complex and nuanced attributes. For instance, your ice magic is an extension of the water attribute."

"A long time ago, magic was the exclusive domain of elves. But after the gods descended, many other races also gained the potential to use magic."

"Even so, most non-elves only learn simple, single-element spells. Those who can control multiple attributes are incredibly rare."

Riveria spoke with clear pride.

"As for me, I've mastered several types and specialize in lightning, ice, and light magic. You, Yoru—so far you've only shown ice magic, right?"

As she asked, Yoru nodded.

"Well… that might not be absolute. It could be that you've only ever used ice magic because you never learned anything else. That ice magic might be inherited through your bloodline. With your immense mana reserves, learning other attributes shouldn't be difficult."

"But for now, there's no rush to learn new spells. What matters most is learning how to control the mana within your body!"

Saying that, Riveria reached out her hand.

"Give me your hand. I'll guide you through meditation. Meditation is crucial for any mage—it allows you to quickly restore your mana, and it gradually enhances your magical capacity."

Riveria took his hand and sat cross-legged. Yoru mimicked her posture and sat down across from her.

"Close your eyes and focus. You'll see it—that raging, surging force flowing inside you. That is your power—your mana."

Riveria had already sensed Yoru's mana once before. Back when she used healing magic on him, she'd felt an overwhelming current of mana surging from within his body.

Its sheer magnitude, quantity, and pressure had captivated her.

As a mage, that was the kind of thing she had pursued all her life—the pinnacle of magical power.

She knew she herself might never reach the title of the world's strongest mage, but when she looked at Yoru… she saw that potential.

More than any personal feeling, that was Riveria's truest reason for wanting to teach him.

She didn't want to see such terrifying talent go to waste. She wanted him to understand that magic was in no way inferior to strength or swordsmanship.

In fact, magic had its own kind of technique and brilliance—like the precision of mana control, the timing of a spell's release, and the extent of its destructive power.

"Good… I can feel it. The magic flowing through your body. Can you feel it too?"

"Yiii!"

Riveria let out a startled yelp, as if she'd been shocked by lightning, and quickly pulled her hands away, glaring at Yoru with a blush of embarrassment and anger.

"What are you doing!?"

"I didn't do anything?"

Yoru blinked innocently.

"I told you not to do weird things during training! If you really want to touch, wait until we're done—I'll let you touch all you want!"

Riveria blurted it out in frustration, only to realize what she'd just said. She quickly covered her mouth in a panic—but it was too late.

"You said it~ Well then, shall we continue?"

Yoru took her hands again and closed his eyes.

You… are you really the magical star fated for me?

Riveria sighed inwardly. She knew that even if she tried to argue now, Yoru wouldn't listen.

Oh well… It's just… being touched a little. It's not like I'll lose a limb or anything.
