The Texas Lab Anomaly

Chapter 3: The Doomsday

Previously:-

In June 1985, a boy with special powers tries to escape from a secret lab in Texas. Scientists chase him, but when he gets angry, he shouts, the lights flicker, and a portal opens. The boy disappears through the portal. A month earlier, in May 1985, four friends—Mikk, Jessy, Hazel, and Justin—are playing games and talking about rumors of secret experiments on people. At school, Mikk and Jessy get in trouble and are sent outside the classroom. Suddenly, a strong wind blows, a bright light flashes, and a portal appears. The boy from the lab, named Ivan, comes out of the portal and runs away. The principal catches Ivan and tries to question him, but Ivan escapes again. Mikk, Jessy, Hazel, and Justin chase him. Ivan screams and opens another portal in the middle of the road. Hazel grabs Ivan's shirt, and both of them disappear into the portal. Hazel's friends are shocked and worried about her lost friend .

Scene: Portal Site –

The police sirens cried through the air, their sharp sound bouncing off every wall and window. Red and blue lights lit up the cloudy evening, painting the faces of everyone around. Mikk, Jessy, Justin, and Ivan stood near the street, hearts racing like they might burst out of their chests. The air smelled like dust and distant rain.

Mikk stared at his friends, then at the swirling spot where the portal had disappeared.

"Listen," Mikk whispered, glancing at the police cars coming fast, "we can't tell Mr. Keery that Hazel is missing. We'll say that she went home early because she had stuff to do. Don't say anything else."

Justin chewed his lip and looked worried. "But what about Ivan? What if Mr. Keery asks about him?"

Mikk's hands were shaking as he tried to act cool. "We'll just say he fucking escaped through the portal."

Jessy nodded quickly, her own voice small. "Yeah. We'll stick with that."

Episode 3 :- The Doomsday

Police jeeps screeched to a stop on the gravel. Doors slammed. Mr. Keery, the tall police officer whose mustache seemed to bristle with suspicion, came straight over. His face looked tired but serious.

He squinted at them. "What are you kids doing here? You shouldn't be out right now, especially after what happened in school."

Jessy tried to stay calm, but her voice shook. "We were just following that boy—the one from the portal."

Mr. Keery folded his arms, frowning. "Why were you following him?"

Mikk tried to sound brave. "We were in the principal's office when he ran away, so we tried to follow him outside. But he disappeared. He…he escaped through the portal again. We couldn't do anything."

Mr. Keery's eyes grew sharp. "And where is Hazel?"

Mikk took a breath, his voice trembling. "It's Hazel, sir. She, um, remembered she had work at home, so she left early. She's not here."

Mr. Keery looked at them closely. "Was Hazel following that boy with you?"

Justin blurted out too quickly, "Yes!"

Mikk jumped in at the same time, "No! I mean, she wanted to, but she really had to go. She left before anything happened."

Mr. Keery sighed and rubbed his head. "All right. Listen—you all need to come to the police station and explain what happened. Once we've heard you out, you can go home. Got it?"

Jessy argued, her eyes wide with worry. "But we told you everything! Can we please go home? Our parents are going to freak out."

Mr. Keery softened a little, but shook his head. "Everyone in the jeep. We'll get you home soon. Your bikes can stay here for now."

Their shoulders dropped as they dragged their feet toward the police jeep. Mr. Keery waved an officer named Ted over. "Ted, drive these kids to the station. Be quick, there's a storm coming."

They all squeezed into the back of the jeep. The seats smelled like old coffee and rain-soaked jackets.

Scene: Police Station

The police station was cold and bright, with grey walls and a shiny floor. The air felt heavy—almost too heavy to breathe. Mr. Keery stood in front of them, notebook ready.

"Okay, kids. I want you to tell me everything you saw, one by one. No messing around."

They nodded slowly, not saying a word.

Mr. Keery looked first at Mikk. "Start, please."

Mikk tried not to fidget. "Me and Jessy were both outside the class because of a homework thing. Then, we saw something crazy. The lights in the school started to blink, and a portal opened up right in the wall."

Jessy continued softly, "It was really bright, like a camera flash right in your face. It made us blind for a bit. Then a boy walked out of it."

Justin spoke next, "I was in my class, so I didn't see the portal open. But I heard people shouting and saw everyone running toward the hallway."

Mr. Keery tapped his pen, looking up. "So you're telling me…a boy literally appeared out of your school wall? Does that sound real to you?"

Mikk's cheeks turned red. "It sounds crazy, but that's what happened. I guess you don't believe us."

Jessy tried not to cry. "It's true. We all saw it. Then Ivan ran away. We tried to follow him, but he screamed, and another portal appeared out in the street. There was a strong wind, and when our vision came back, he was gone—just gone, like he'd never been there."

Mr. Keery raised his eyebrows and closed his notebook. He laughed a little, maybe trying to hide how nervous he truly was. "Kids, you know how wild that sounds? Are you sure you're not making up a story?"

Justin stood up, voice shaking. "No! If you were there, you'd know! We're not lying."

Mr. Keery sighed, putting away the notebook. "Okay, okay. Look, for now I'll drop you where you left your bikes. But you need to tell the truth next time, all right?"

Ted appeared again, and the kids left with him, feeling tired and scared. None of them spoke on the way back.

Scene: Unknown Place –

Hazel woke up lying on wet grass. Her head hurt and her arms ached from the fall. When she sat up and opened her eyes, everything seemed strange—the sky was orange and the air tasted like metal. Giant grey trees hung overhead, their leaves fluttering like silent ghosts. She heard Ivan nearby, hunched and shaking.

Hazel whispered, voice full of panic, "Where the fuck are we? What is this place?"

Ivan hugged his knees, his face pale. "I…I don't know. This isn't where I thought we'd end up."

Hazel felt her fear turn to anger. "Don't give me that crap! This is your fault. You opened that portal! If you hadn't done it, I wouldn't be here."

Ivan's face scrunched up. "You grabbed onto me! I told you not to. It's not all on me. You wanted answers, right? This is where it gets you."

Hazel glared. "Why the hell were you running? How did you even make those portals?"

Ivan's voice was quiet, almost lost in the wind. "I…can't tell you everything. Not yet. First, we need to stay alive. That's all that matters."

He froze and looked over his shoulder. Hazel noticed the fear on his face.

"What is it?" she asked.

Ivan held up a finger, telling her to be silent. "Shh. Someone's near. Listen."

Through the trees, Hazel heard men talking quietly. Their voices sounded sharp and urgent.

"Keep your goddamn mouths shut," Ivan whispered again, "or we're as good as dead."

Hidden in a bush, Hazel and Ivan listened as footsteps came closer. The voices of the soldiers grew clearer:

"Make it quick," one said. "Dr. William will skin us alive if we lose the boy again."

Another replied, "Check every bush. Don't forget—after those experiments, there's no telling what Ivan can do."

Hazel's eyes went wide, and she mouthed, "They're looking for you?"

Ivan nodded, fear plain on his face.

Suddenly, a soldier called out, "Hey! I heard something over here!"

Hazel held her breath, heart pounding as heavy boots stomped nearby. Just as one soldier pushed aside a bush, an alarm blared out from a building nearby—a loud, wild sound. The soldiers swore and ran toward the noise.

Hazel and Ivan looked at each other—relieved, but still trapped.

Scene: Mikk's House

It was almost dark when Mikk, Jessy, and Justin walked into Mikk's house. Their clothes were muddy, and they looked like they hadn't slept for days.

Mikk's mom, Jasmine, was setting the table for dinner. She smiled when she saw them, but her smile faded as she counted the kids.

"Where's Hazel?" she asked.

Mikk quickly said, "She went home early, Mom. She had homework to finish."

Sharon, Mikk's older sister, sat on the couch reading a magazine. She looked up and smirked. "Wow, what a day. Hazel ditches, and you three come home looking like you've been dragged through a swamp. What's the story?"

Mikk glared. "Shut up, Sharon."

Jasmine frowned, watching the kids wipe mud from their shoes. "What are you planning now, Mikk?"

"I'm just making a call, Mom."

Mikk grabbed the phone and dialed Hazel's mom, Lisa. "Hi, Lisa Aunty. Just wanted to say Hazel's at my place. We're working on a school project, so don't worry."

Lisa sounded puzzled but replied, "Okay, thanks, Mikk." After she hung up, Lisa muttered, "That boy is always in a hurry..."

Scene: Back in the Unknown Place

After a while, the forest was silent. Ivan let out a sigh. "We can hide for now," he whispered. "But getting out won't be easy. If we're in the Texas lab's field, we're basically doomed."

Hazel pressed her fists into her thighs, determined not to cry. "We're going to find a way back, Ivan—I'm not dying out here."

Ivan gave a weak smile, but his eyes shone with worry. "If there's a way, we'll find it," he said, though he didn't sound sure.

Scene: Mikk's House

The Operation Search :- Mikk gathered everyone in the playroom. The room was scattered with board games and old comic books, but tonight it felt like a war room.

"We can't just sit around," Mikk said, his voice shaking but determined. "We each should check a different place in town. If we split up, maybe we'll find some sign of Hazel or Ivan before it gets too late."

Jessy nodded. "I'm scared, but we have to try."

As if on cue, Sharon pushed the door open. She folded her arms and glared. "Why are you lying to Mom and Ms. Lisa? I heard you on the phone. What's really going on?"

Mikk sighed. "Sharon, please, not now. It's…complicated."

The three friends looked at each other, fear bubbling underneath.

None of them knew what tomorrow would bring, but they all knew they weren't giving up—not on Hazel, not until the very end.
