The Strongest Curse Master

Chapter 398: The Foolish And Ignorant

"Ace, what is it?" Lyra called her baby bro in concern, seeing him lost in thought for a while.

"Huh?" I uttered, having finally digested Emi's revelation. The more I learned about my sister's innate curse abilities, the more appreciative I was of my innate curse abilities. I did not have to worry about their memories, nor them confusing their identities because of their memories. I was beginning to understand the true greatness of my Cursed Toybox.

"You have been spaced out for a while now. I was beginning to get worried," Lyra said, while the little Lilith looked up at me and nodded.

"It's nothing, don't worry about it," I decided to save the talk for later when we were truly alone and looking down to meet Lilith's eyes, I asked, "Would you like to have some pancakes and honey butter?"

I had no idea how to calm her down, so I decided to distract her with food. I couldn't think of a kid who would say no to pancakes.

Lilith nodded even though she had a heavy breakfast not long ago. Having lived years not knowing when the next meal would be given, she had developed a habit of never rejecting any meal when offered. She would always find a room for it in her tiny little stomach.

Lately, with Elinor being busy with her practice, Lilith was beginning to worry if she would have to go back to her old life. Despite being an eight-year-old child, she was mature enough to know that the only reason she got to live her current life was because of Elinor. Therefore, she could not tolerate even the thought of later being dead and attacked Lyra relentlessly.

This wasn't out of love or anything—Lilith was just being loyal. It was the same as the beast's loyalty to its keeper, who groomed it, fed it, and cleaned after it. It was heartbreaking, but that was the reality. Hopefully, Elinor can successfully tame this beast into a human.

As I led Lilith inside, Lyra couldn't help but ask, "You do know that getting on the good side of this little psycho will not increase your chances with Dame Wasp?"

Lyra couldn't help but think this, seeing her baby bro repeatedly throw her under the bus and take the side of the little psycho today. Besides, he was at that age. Not to mention, he had a big crush on Dame Wasp since she first rented that movie for him.

"Get your mind out of the gutter, sis. And her name is Lilith. She is Elinor's ward. Besides, I don't need to trick a child to get some, even if it's the real-life Dame Wasp," I confidently said as I led Lilith into the kitchen to find my mom refilling Dee3's plate with pancakes while the latter was discussing the lease with Mandy.

"Mom, I invited Lilith over for breakfast," I informed, pulling a chair for Lilith at the dining table, hoping these pancakes would be enough to make Lilith forget Lyra.

Mary nodded and ordered her daughter, "Lyra, don't just stand there and serve the guests."

"Mom, why can't Ace do it? I haven't had breakfast yet. I'm hungry," Lyra argued, thinking she was safe as they had company. Only to find her mother stop frying pancakes and stare daggers at her, sternly answering, "Because I asked you to do it. And you can have breakfast with me and Pam later."

Listening to my mom, I immediately knew my mother had begun her good mother training for her eldest daughter, looking out for her grandbabies that were yet to be born. My mother had warned Lyra, when she had moved out of the house, that her grandbabies shouldn't grow up eating frozen food. So, unless she wanted her to move in with her, she better learn to cook.

Now that I think of it, my parents did not seem to have high hopes for my sister. With Lyra's track record, I don't blame them. Well, it worked in her favor as they let her do anything she wanted except for owning a car. As far as my mother was concerned, that was the same as catching us with tonnes of drugs. That was why Lyra got into trouble for a lot of things, but never joyriding. Even if she did, she made sure they called our dad and not our mom or the house number.

"Fine, but I will eat after I fix a plate for the little psycho," Lyra compromised, though she still held a grudge against Lilith. That needs to stop right now.

"Mom, let me borrow Lyra for a second." Having said that, I did not wait for my mother's approval and dragged Lyra to the hall.

"Aw, stop, you are hurting me," Lyra complained as I finally let go of her wrist and, locking eyes with her, sternly asked, "What were you thinking rushing home for help? Do you know how worse things could have gotten if Lilith hadn't held back or if our father and Uncle Dan were home?"

"I am sorry I wasn't thinking. I was too scared, being chased by those dead snakes and frogs," Lyra apologized, understanding the gravity of the situation. But it wasn't her fault. She was making conversation, how could she know what words would trigger the little psycho?

Even though it wasn't the first time Lyra's big mouth had gotten me and our family in trouble, I forgave her, knowing she wasn't to blame. However, she quickly needed to let go of her old mindset and adapt to the 'World of Curses.'

"Forget about it, but you need to stop picking fights with Lilith. I wasn't kidding when I said she could fight a void-tier. She was raised a killer, despite her age, her body count is in four digits minimum," I advised, hoping this was enough to convince Lyra to lay off Lilith.

"So what? That doesn't mean she could just kill whoever she wants. Doesn't the government lock up psychos like her?" Lyra said, wondering when her brother had stopped speaking up and started cowering before the strong.
