The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 189 - The Trouble Maker?

“Isn’t that the troublemaker from your class? I didn’t expect them to actually cooperate with someone.” On the other side, the usually composed Command Department unexpectedly stirred up a discussion.

“Which majors are those two from?”

“I don’t know about the tall one, but the girl is currently the top student in the military-related major.”

“And the other one…”

At Beska Intermediate Academy, the Command Department is quite a unique major. It’s clearly a popular choice, sought after by countless high-potential awakeners at any school. However, it also has the fewest students.

In the 89983 cohort, there were only three classes. The 89982 cohort had two classes, while the 89981 cohort doesn’t even have enough students for a single class anymore. Therefore, the Command Department really has very few people, with only six class advisors, making it the department with the least number of students in the entire college.

Moreover, unlike other majors, the students’ qualifications in the Command Department are not ranked by class numbers to determine their superiority or inferiority. This makes sense, as each class has fewer students than half of a typical class in other majors, and command requires a certain innate talent. If they were to rank them by ability, they certainly wouldn’t be able to form classes.

However, none of this diminishes the students’ natural pursuit of this profession that sounds so cool and impressive. A significant portion of those applying for military-related majors have considered entering this program. Unfortunately, due to talent limitations, not everyone is accepted, and there’s also a special interview process.

Ironically, despite being such a popular major, the students maintain a low profile in their daily conduct, often training independently and rarely interacting with other majors. Sometimes, by the end of a semester, students from other majors might not even recognize all of them—those few dozen individuals.

Even though the semester has only just begun, this aspect has already started to show.

The Combat Infantry System has a large number of students and classes; the elite classes and regular classes are all mixed together, almost enough to form half a class by themselves.

Moreover, most of the popular participants in this competition are their students, and those who perform exceptionally well could easily fill an entire class.

With so many people, even if each of them holds back, the noise will still be significant. The most lively area in the faculty section is undoubtedly their side.

Next door, the Mecha Department is not to be outdone either. Dressed impeccably, the students engage excitedly in discussions about the people on the screen, as if they are just enjoying a spectacle.

Most students who choose to enter this major come from decent backgrounds and have reasonable mental energy levels, but in terms of combat power, they naturally cannot compare to the strong individuals from the Combat Infantry System. The class advisors in the Mecha Department understand their students’ abilities and don’t intend to compete for top honors with the very best; for them, participation is what matters.

They naturally adopt a position of superiority in their mindset and aren’t particularly concerned about the few mecha prizes. After all, they are mecha engineers by profession, and no matter how skilled they are, they exist to create mechas. Most of their dreams revolve around manufacturing highly sought-after interstellar mechas within their lifetime.

Additionally, some enthusiastic students have secretly started a betting pool within the department to guess who will secure a spot in the top three, which has created quite a lively atmosphere.

As for the other departments such as the Reconnaissance, Navigation, and Logistics Departments, they each have their own excitement.

In contrast, the Command Department remains calm throughout. Even if a student stands out, they tend to observe more critically rather than simply offering praise, because an excellent commander is not solely judged by individual ability.

Unfortunately, so far, very few performances have caught their attention.

Of course, one shouldn’t expect much from a group of students who haven’t even fully grasped mental energy conduction when it comes to commanding a larger situation; it would be good enough if they could demonstrate even a bit of the qualities expected of a commander.

The “troublemaker” mentioned earlier refers to Lieutenant Min Hao from Class 2 of the 89983 Command Department, and that “troublemaker” is currently one of Jiang Hui’s teammates, Huan Xian.

The person speaking with Min Hao is Captain Nordbay, the class advisor of Class 3.

Captain Nordbay is an old soldier nearing retirement. Given his years of service and military rank, he isn’t particularly impressive, but surviving the intense battlefield makes him no ordinary person. He possesses extensive military experience and has led his small team to victory in several battles with significant disparities in strength.

His personality is straightforward; he expresses his emotions freely, whether in laughter or anger. He embodies the typical boldness of a soldier and is the most respected “big brother” in the department.

He treats the students in his class almost equally and naturally appreciates the students from other classes as well.

He has an impression of the little troublemaker in Min Hao’s class. There are so few students in their class that they can’t even fill the classroom, so they see each other often, and despite their different personalities, they can’t escape social interaction. Moreover, since their numbers are so small, any internal divisions would be problematic.

However, among those ten or twenty students, most have distinct personalities. A few are particularly difficult to manage—either they’re hard to control or they’re not easy to approach.

Huan Xian falls into the first category. His abilities and potential are beyond question; he was sent over from the Eighth Legion, and his background seems relatively clean. His performance during training has been outstanding, with only a few in the department being able to compare with him.

However, he is quite peculiar. It wouldn’t be accurate to say he is arrogant; he’s actually quite down-to-earth, even a bit rough around the edges, without the pampering often associated with aristocratic offspring. He is very attentive during training and is an easy student to manage.

But if we say he is approachable, he hardly gets along with anyone in his class. For some reason, his classmates have a strong aversion to him, either isolating themselves to observe or arguing and fighting with him. Just half a month ago, they nearly got into a group fight.

When asked why, he refuses to say anything, and others he is asked about also won’t divulge the details, leaving a group of troublesome students that everyone worries about.

If that’s the case, Min Hao would consider Huan Xian to be rather reclusive. If he doesn’t get along with others, then so be it; the Command Department doesn’t necessarily have to teach him social skills. However, the problem is that, half a month ago during military training, a group of fools who couldn’t even control their mental energy thoughtlessly started using it against each other over trivial personal conflicts.

If Min Hao hadn’t arrived in time, both of the people who were clashing with Huan Xian would have suffered damage to their mental energy.

Experiencing mental damage before the official start of classes is unprecedented for the Command Department, which prides itself on a calm and composed demeanor. Moreover, there has never been an incident where a few students got into a fight while a crowd of others stood by and watched.

In some respects, Min Hao has a quick temper and cannot tolerate these kids continuing to misbehave. It was already rare for him to show such patience by not aggressively interrogating them about the reasons behind the conflict.

Thus, he decided to punish the entire class severely and then pulled out a few of the involved students to get to the bottom of things.

To avoid further escalating the conflict between Huan Xian and the rest of the class, he first approached Huan Xian to ask about the reasons behind his ostracism by the whole class.
