The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 160 - Counting Supplies

Back to Jiang Hui’s side.
After completing her first round of shooting upon entering the arena and retrieving the first wave of supplies from the unfortunate trio, Jiang Hui hid in another, more concealed corner she had discovered during her shooting intervals.

Although given the current situation, she couldn’t achieve absolute concealment; being a lone player like this meant she would eventually be spotted like a lone sheep. Either that, or she’d be stuck here until the competition ended… But what fun would that be? It would be better to do something more exciting since there wasn’t any real danger to her life.

As for the ship that came to pick up those three unfortunate souls, she naturally noticed it and appreciated the school’s efficiency, which was different from previous experiences. It seemed the earlier issues with the surveillance cameras had taught the school a lesson, making them aware of the importance of being foolproof. The immediate improvements in safety awareness were evident.

It was great that the eliminated participants were out in less than three minutes, which ensured safety.

This also made Jiang Hui feel a bit more at ease; after all, she didn’t know when she might end up as collateral damage. If she found herself immobilized for eight or ten hours, she’d truly lose her mind.

She quickly glanced at that direction but didn’t linger, focusing instead on sorting through the items she had taken from the three participants to confirm her current inventory.

In truth, there wasn’t much. Although she had robbed three people, their earlier carefree behavior made it clear they weren’t experienced; the quality of their supplies was quite low.

As for the supplies… that story goes back about half an hour.

After the search was completed, the supervising instructor announced the rules and organized the teams. Then the school unleashed a major event.

Just as Jiang Hui was thinking it wouldn’t be something like an air raid, the next moment, sharp warning signals rang out from the sky, accompanied by a long rumbling sound.

“Now distributing various types of supplies. Students, please follow the broadcast instructions to go to the designated drop zones to collect materials for the orienteering competition. During the collection of supplies, please take items in an orderly manner, and fighting or roughhousing is strictly prohibited. During the competition, please use the supplies safely and do not harm others… Those who violate these rules will be immediately expelled from the competition, and the school reserves the right to pursue further action for serious offenses.”

“The first batch of supplies is now ready for distribution and will be completed within five minutes…”

“Firearms—” “Medicines—” “Tents—” …The entire training ground was filled with this mechanized noise, creating a chaotic atmosphere.

Dozens of small helicopter-like airships hovered above, dropping items wrapped in foam packaging with loud thuds. Large and small, long and short, various shapes and sizes—some were necessary supplies, while others were random odds and ends that seemed to have no apparent use. Each airship dropped different items.

Due to the drastic changes in the situation, everyone present took a moment to react; by the time they did, some people were already leaping up to grab the supplies.

Jiang Hui was neither in a hurry nor too slow. By the time she got her bearings, there were already crowds around her, some standing and some crouching, all focused on grabbing items from various circles. Others were darting from one spot to another, frantically snatching supplies, creating a scene of chaos.

Being relatively slender and not very tall, she found herself pushed around in the crowd. With limited time and supplies, she decided it was better to observe for now and thus focused on picking up items from a few nearby small circles.

Jiang Hui’s luck was relatively good; she managed to stumble upon a simple nano military backpack. Although it couldn’t hold much, at least it provided a “place to store” the things she collected. Otherwise, she couldn’t imagine herself with a pair of scissors clipped to one side of her belt and a piece of rope hanging off the other.

There were also a few vials that she couldn’t tell were nutritional solutions or stamina supplements; she hoped they were the latter. The rest were a hodgepodge of items like straps, ropes, scissors, covers, and even needles. She wasn’t sure how to use any of these or what purpose they might serve, but she picked them up along with others. They might come in handy… hopefully?

Then, she managed to “acquire” a service pistol from a guy whose supplies were all over the place. Just as she was feeling lucky about that, she was abruptly transported to this location.

Unfortunately, she hadn’t gotten any ammunition… but to salvage a few miscellaneous supplies in the chaos of people acting like locusts was still a stroke of luck. She noticed that some people were even less fortunate than she was and ended up with nothing at all.

Jiang Hui casually rummaged through the supplies taken from the three “kind-hearted” individuals and found that while their items were of poor quality, they had actually managed to grab some useful stuff.

One person had even managed to snag two rows of spare ammunition. Although one row was for handguns, and she didn’t have a gun that used that type of ammo yet, neither did those three guys. But just because she didn’t have any use for it now didn’t mean she couldn’t take it; if she kept searching, she’d eventually find something compatible, so she gladly accepted it.

In addition, Jiang Hui managed to retrieve all three of their guns. Two of them were service pistols, the same type as the one she had acquired, which seemed to come from the same drop zone, and neither had been fired. The third one was a different model from the service pistol she had, and it looked slightly different as well. Given her current level of knowledge, she couldn’t really distinguish between the two. She decided to keep it for now; um… it should work similarly, right?

Finally, she found an entire row of twelve vials of nutritional solution. Since this row was intact, it still had an unpeeled label on it, and the packaging was the same as the few vials she had picked up earlier. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a stamina supplement; it was that kind of nutritional solution that had a slight stamina-enhancing component, primarily meant to fill the stomach, with the stamina-boosting effect being a mere side benefit.

However, if she wanted to regain some stamina, it seemed that drinking seven or eight vials of this would barely be enough for one round.

Jiang Hui knew it was unrealistic to expect to be that lucky; finding twelve stamina supplements would be ridiculous. Still, being able to grab some supplies, whether stamina supplements or nutritional solutions, was better than nothing. This way, she wouldn’t have to go hungry during the orienteering competition, which was quite useful.

Although she didn’t have many supplies, the few that were usable were jumbled together, making them impossible to carry away. Jiang Hui couldn’t help but feel grateful that she had managed to get a nano field pack right from the start. However, even though the pack had a storage capacity that might not even be half a cubic meter, it was already nearly full, and soon even the smaller items would be pushed out.

After quickly checking the items in her pack, Jiang Hui decided not to dwell on it and waited there for a while longer.

The three individuals had already been taken away, and the area was cleaned up thoroughly, as if no one had ever been there.

Now, it was her turn to decide what to do next. Should she stay and wait for another wave of unsuspecting victims, or… Jiang Hui’s gaze fell on the fork in the path where the three had just entered, her expression uncertain.
