Chapter 136 - Teaching Tools
Jiang Hui ended her first day back in training in a slightly awkward manner. This was the last day of their physical training, and at the end, Instructor Stark informed them that they would have approximately one week of specialized shooting training next.
To provide them with a training experience closer to military standards, this specialized shooting training would not be taught by their respective class instructors. Instead, a military sergeant would be dispatched by the army to teach the shooting classes.
After all, Stark and the others had been on the battlefield for many years and had long since moved on from the basic military courses. Even though the situations they would later face were actually more dangerous and challenging, for the students, the instructors’ experiences were much more removed from the foundational level. It would be difficult for them to absorb the finer details of basic courses if taught by instructors at such a high level.
Thus, when Jiang Hui and the others arrived at the training ground the next morning, they saw a military sergeant they had never seen before, in addition to Instructor Stark. The sergeant’s uniform was different from the military attire Stark and the others usually wore; it resembled more of a training uniform.
Stark briefly introduced this sergeant, who was temporarily teaching the shooting classes, and informed the students that they would need to follow the arrangements going forward.
It was evident that their new instructor was not one for many words, but his appearance matched people’s expectations of a soldier. He had dark skin and a stern expression, with bright, determined eyes—an archetypal military image. His strong presence was so pronounced that it seemed to overshadow his originally handsome features.
He introduced himself to everyone as Nie Erqi and said he would be responsible for leading them in shooting practice.
Before long, a military sergeant responsible for delivering the equipment arrived, bringing two large boxes. Stark and Nie Erqi opened them in front of everyone.
Since everyone was still lined up in military formation, those in the front row could see clearly, but most of the people in the back were blocked from view. Furthermore, since Stark hadn’t dismissed their formation, no one dared to move out of line to get a better look. They could only tense their muscles, straining to peek over each other’s shoulders. Whether or not they could see depended entirely on the angle.
Even among the girls in her class, Jiang Hui was not particularly tall, but she stood near the front and managed to catch a glimpse of a corner of one of the boxes.
It was easy to guess what was inside; they were about to start shooting classes, so it was highly likely that the items being brought in were firearms or similar equipment.
From Jiang Hui’s angle, she could see a corner of the box, and it was obvious that what lay within was a metal rod-like object, presumably a long gun or something of that sort. This was likely the teaching tool they would be using in the upcoming classes.
Although the two instructors seemed focused on checking the contents of the boxes, their attention was also partially drawn to the group of young trainees behind them.
They had been marching for many years; although their ranks and experiences differed, they all came from basic training. They certainly understood what qualities a soldier needed: natural abilities, along with a certain level of training and professional competence.
Moreover, there was the need for obedience and rational thinking. However, such qualities are not innate because there are no born followers in this world; every person exists with independent thoughts, and naturally, everyone has their own opinions.
But when one decides to become a guardian of the nation, to be one of the pillars safeguarding the empire’s security, and to be a shield for all citizens… the first thing one must learn is to temper their personal ambitions, even to prune their own thoughts and ideas, and to strive to integrate into the strength of the collective and the masses.
Of course, once you possess a power that transcends the group and reach a certain height to establish rules, everything naturally becomes less restrained.
This is a very realistic and cruel truth. The military needs such loyalty the most; only such individuals can unleash the greatest fighting power of their unit. Therefore, if one cannot understand or accept this point, it is better to abandon this path early on. In the military, where the struggle between individual and collective interests is so brutal, it is the individual who inevitably faces destruction first.
Thus, whether in preparation or formal training, whether in schools or the military, the strategy for cultivating such students is generally similar. In one word: endure, just like training a hawk, allowing it to be tamed by the collective so it can better serve the group.
Fortunately, after less than a month of training, these young ones have developed a basic awareness. They have learned from their lessons and now understand the importance of obeying their superiors’ orders.
If it were more than half a month ago, they might have thought that the instructor was not paying attention to their words and actions, allowing them to act freely. Or they could have felt a false sense of relaxation in such an environment and atmosphere.
Once they confirmed that everyone’s hands and legs were firmly in place and that no one had moved, only then were the two truly satisfied. They then diverted their attention to check the condition of the teaching tools.
Don’t think that just because the items were prepared by them, there wouldn’t be any issues. They thought the same way during their earlier training, but unexpectedly, a batch of star beasts had appeared out of nowhere, and even now, they still hadn’t figured out what had happened afterward.
Because of the incident that occurred during their recent training, the school had now elevated its safety control measures for new students to a certain level, fearing that any problems might arise again.
Although these items looked realistic, they were essentially harmless laser-targeting javelins. However, after the previous incident where they couldn’t identify the situation, who knew whether a real assault rifle might be mixed in with the laser javelins? If that happened and it went off, it could lead to serious trouble.
Perhaps out of pity for the group who were curiously stretching their necks to get a better look, Stark ordered everyone to line up so they could approach and observe the tools they would need for their upcoming shooting practice up close.
Without any visual obstructions and no need to worry about the restrictions of military posture, Jiang Hui finally got a clear view of the true nature of the items in the box.
The main color was a deep black, and the connecting part in the middle resembled a material like high-grade steel. The entire assault rifle was about a meter long, with a long, slender barrel at the front, which then thickened toward the middle, and at the back, there was what seemed to be a counterweight feature. The overall lines were smooth, and even without touching it, one could feel a cold, weapon-specific aura emanating from it.
Is this the real deal?!
Having never observed such real objects up close, Jiang Hui instinctively felt a slight chill in her heart. It wasn’t that she was cowardly; rather, in her past life, she had genuinely never come into contact with such dangerous items, and there was no way for her to access them.
The TB series assault rifle has a total length of 97 centimeters, making it one of the smallest in both standard and power among assault rifles. However, its advantages lie in its flexibility and relatively light weight, making it the most suitable type of gun for beginners.
