The Stranger of Eldoria

Chapter 24: Erroneous deductions

I walk aimlessly, without a sword, guided by the delicate light of the piece of ice, torn from the giant icy thorns. With the most uncomfortable silence of my life.

At one point during my exhausting walk, I heard voices. It was a group of students.

"I suppose they are just ordinary students," I thought, as I covered the homemade flashlight with my hands.

Moving behind a moderately large rock, I listened attentively to the conversation.

—Where do you think he/she has gone?

—That idiot, why doesn't he listen?! —The other student responded furiously.

—Let it go, we can't do anything. —Said the third student.

The words were blurry, but it could be understood that there were a total of three.

"From what they mention, they must be looking for someone"

Although the darkness was pure, thanks to the giant ice spikes, I managed to see one of the students. It turned out to be, in fact, "a" student.

Golden, straight hair, medium height. She wore a white coat and the academy uniform skirt, finishing with black tights that covered her legs.

He was facing away, so I couldn't see his face. But his distinctive golden hair reminded me of someone.

"That hair color, where have I seen it..."

At that moment, as if something had caught his attention, he turned around. It was for a fraction of a second, but I could see his eyes. Like bright pearls, her eyes were precious, even though they were different colors.

My position was very convenient; from their perspective, they wouldn't be seeing anything but rocks. Oh, that's what I thought.

At that moment, slowly and elegantly, the dazzling student raised her hand while staring intently. From her shoulder, a small light traveled down her entire arm, and from the tips of her fingers, a bird made of magic shot out at full speed.

"damn!"

(Spiritual summoner) a variant of magic and common summoners. It doesn't use beings of flesh and blood, but elemental spirits that wander the world. They are a force to be reckoned with.

Crack!! — The wind spirit destroyed the rock I was hiding behind, and a cloud of dust rose.

The spirit tried to seek me out, fluttering its wings, attempting to disperse the cloud of dust. But from behind, with a flick of my wrist, I expelled it from the place.

I aimed up at the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. With the icy bullet, I shot and destroyed one that was gigantic.

!!TRACK!! — Falling with a crash. Several rocks from the ceiling collapsed, causing a chain reaction of destruction.

—L-Let's get out of here, this place is going to fall apart!— shouted one of the students.

The giant stalactite struck aggressively, raising dust and blinding everyone.

— "What's happening...?" — thought the golden-haired student, while covering her face with her arms.

Waiting for the impact, I immediately got up and ran through the dust, which they wouldn't be able to see me through.

"I have to get out of here quickly."

With the fall of the stalactite, the dust colored the atmosphere a shade of orange. Enough not to see what lies behind, unless you are close enough.

¡!—¡!

Passing by the golden-haired student, our eyes connected, even though she was covering herself.

"that was strange"

I sped up until I left the place. I didn't have the makeshift flashlight, so I got lost right away when I stopped running. Lost in thought, I walked away from the place.

But while I was walking, hitting and touching the rocky wall as a guide, I heard more noise again, coming from a possible fight.

—This is never-ending.

I said without hesitation, as I got closer and closer to the place of the conflict. When the noise ended, I reached a wall that blocked my way.

"Has the fight already ended?"

I was left thoughtful, observing the height of the rock, this showed me how terribly designed the caves are in this world, like the end of this cave, thinking it was connected to the others.

—perhaps... Will I have to go back?

The idea of going back terrified me, those guys are surely looking for me.

"What could I do now?"

While I was looking for a way to solve this problem, a thin golden line appeared across the wall from one corner to the other, and the next moment the rock exploded into a thousand pieces, raising dust.

The wind from the explosion was so strong that it left my hair a mess and the small stones hit a large part of my body.

—ugh.

The cloud of dust slowly settled, and within it, an image of a person could be seen.

—Noah!?

The person exclaimed, with a doubtful tone. I regained my focus and managed to see that person more clearly.

—Javier?!

I said, surprised. Who would have expected that, among the large number of students, I would run into the protagonist... "Wait, if he's here, then he should also be..."

—What's up, Javier, why are you standing still?

Luna approached, looking past Javier until she saw me. While he stood there perplexed and trembling, then with a sad expression, he spoke desperately.

—L-luna, I almost eliminated Noah… Noah, I'm really sorry! I didn't expect you to be behind the rock.

Grabbing me by the shoulders, Javier was redeeming himself and tearing up. For me, it was something strange and odd, also for Luna who looked at Javier with embarrassment. In response, Luna grabbed Javier by the ear and lifted him with clarity.

—Ay!

Javier, in response, just touched his swollen ear from the squeeze.

—Hey!, why did you do that, it hurts a lot! — said Javier

Luna remained silent, closing her eyes and shaking her head. Javier sighed and spoke to me seriously, even with his swollen ear.

—Where is your team? It seems like you got separated from them.

Even with his serious tone, I could tell he was still upset that I didn't join their group. Well, I can't blame them, it was my fault for not telling them that I was an assistant to Professor Selene... although I didn't know I would get into this whole hunter thing either.

Agg, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit annoyed with Professor Selene for not telling me about this topic. Luna noticed my annoyance, playfully approached me, and touched my hair, combing the mess on my head with her fingers.

—Thanks?

I didn't expect that, but I couldn't say anything with that smile he was showing; after all, I like seeing people smile. Javier, who was watching this, stepped between us, coughed a little, and continued speaking.

—I'll repeat it, where is your team? As a hunter, the last thing you would do is separate from your team, right? Besides, where is your sword?

—well... I separated and things happened... in the end, I ended up like this, although I'm perfectly fine.

I responded naturally, recounting what happened to me after I got separated from my group. It wasn't a long story, but the moment was suffocating, trying not to worry them. But their faces didn't see it that way, showing signs of concern.

—Back to the last thing, I think I know who the golden-haired woman you mentioned is, you said she had eyes of different colors, right?

Javier said, analyzing what I had told, while Luna was doing the same, but a second later, Luna meticulously mentioned his name.

—Miral Drakar.

(Miral Drakar) according to Luna, not much is known about her, only that she is the daughter of Lucian's father, but not of his mother. Maybe that's why her eyes are unusual; something like that isn't normal. But that's all... she comes to the academy normally, doesn't stand out much among the others, and from what is said, she doesn't live with her father, but with her mother.

If that's the case, then you should keep your distance from Lucian's father; that's normal with illegitimate children in high-ranking families.

"Perhaps it is a canonical event to find out about her, a corrupt family, or one tied to evil?" There are several variations if we talk about nobles. But whatever it is, it won't end well.

If the protagonist was nearby, they are supposed to meet to start this event in the story, and since I was the one who found them first, I shouldn't block the story. If they are just a few small changes, nothing will happen!

—cough, cough, Changing the subject, they were other hunters, why don't you go and defeat one of them? I could also accompany them.

With a fake cough, I pointed with my finger to the place I came from.

—It doesn't seem like a good idea to me, it's very reckless.

—Of course!, let's go!

The words of Luna were cut short by Javier's raised voice. Who, with emotion, walked without looking back. Maybe he wanted to spend time with his best friends, but... there were better ways to respond.

"I don't know if he's very brave or very stupid."

I thought, as I watched Luna approach him with a monstrous face. Javier realizing, startled, ran away, while Luna kept pace with him.

"Yes, they are a perfect match."

With a calm expression, I followed them, walking with tranquility. Seeing how they fought, those I consider good friends.

The laughter, the jokes, made it seem like not much time had passed, arriving faster than I thought. When we came across the pile of rocks, which I knocked down, there wasn't a soul in sight; the place was desolate.

—Did they already leave?

I said, while looking from side to side. I could believe they had already left, but no one would leave their things. Backpacks, swords, and others.

"Did something attack them?"

But it was foolish to think about that, there was no trace of any, besides that team looked formidable. At that moment, I heard Javier calling my name.

—Noah, I found something.

—What is it?

I responded when I was following Javier, taking me to one of the rocks where a fist mark was visible.

Can something like this even be done? Observing the insane strength of the one who made that mark made my skin stiffen, hoping not to encounter someone with the same strength. But to Javier's eyes, it didn't seem to surprise him.

"What can be done, as the protagonist, he must be several levels above"

—I suppose they had a fight.

Said Luna, while also looking at the fist mark. But Javier, placing his hand on his jaw and narrowing his eyes, drew another conclusion.

—No, he did this before being eliminated.

—What do you mean?

Luna replied, looking at Javier, but he continued to observe the footprint.

"Did he do it in an annoying way before leaving the event?"

—How do you know? —I said.

Javier closed his eyes and spoke in a timid manner, what he believed or what had happened.

—I think they were with Lucian, because Miral Drakar was with them.

Even though he said they were shining, it didn't bother me at all, but what did he have to do with all this? Maybe they are from the same team, but I didn't see him at any moment.

—Let's assume that's the case, but it can't be known for sure.

He spoke while I was leaving, in the end, the canonical event hadn't happened, but why? Isn't Miral Drakar a character of relevance? While I doubted my assumptions, Javier spoke again with sharpness.

—I'm referring to why they're no longer here, because just a moment ago I eliminated Lucian right before meeting you.

—Ah-

I stood still after hearing his response, the canonical event didn't happen, but was it because he got involved in another? Or they were only indirectly connected and would meet on another occasion, this being just a mention.

"It seems that I will have to think much more to know what the author of this story thinks"
