Chapter 190 - Divine Cat Mii-chan Observes the Mock Battle with the Hero

190 Divine Cat Mii-chan Observes the Mock Battle with the Hero

It’s just past seven o’clock according to the clock. In this world, the air is so clean that even the light from the stars and moon makes it feel bright enough.

The first to fight is the guy who looks like a delinquent. Jin-san will be facing him.

“Ugh! My opponent’s an old man?”
“Try to make it a little fun for me, kid.”

Jin-san draws his favored greatsword from its sheath. It’s black and gleaming, the kind of weapon that even an amateur can tell is a masterpiece. As for the delinquent guy, his sword is shiny and golden… Well, I guess it suits him in its own way.

The delinquent guy makes the first move. Naturally, I thought he would attack with his sword, but he surprises everyone by starting with a kick, like a street brawl. Jin-san dodges it easily.

“Hah… You idiot. That move would’ve killed you once already.”

To be fair, I have to acknowledge his courage in closing the distance like that. It was a surprising attack. But still, that’s a way to fight weaker opponents. If Jin-san had been serious, he would’ve cut him down in one strike.

“Shut up! An old man like you is easy enough to handle!”

This time, he attacks with his sword, mixing in kicks and punches between his strikes. It’s an unorthodox style. Jin-san is smiling wryly as he receives the attacks.

The delinquent guy tries to land a backhand blow after his sword strike, but Jin-san catches it with the flat of his greatsword.

“Hey, you should know, I could’ve cut your wrist off there.”
“Tch!”

“This isn’t going well… Fine, I’ll use a bit more strength, so be ready to take it!”

Jin-san raises his greatsword high and brings it down on the delinquent guy. Surprised by the speed and sharpness, the delinquent manages to block it with his sword, but the force sends him flying.

“What? I didn’t even put much power into that swing.”

“D-damn it!”

The delinquent guy continues to attack recklessly, but at this point, it’s not even swordsmanship anymore. He’s just swinging his sword wildly. Jin-san easily disarms him, pressing the blade of his greatsword against the delinquent’s neck.

“You’ve got strength, but you’re too stupid. You’re not even a match for these little kitties.”

The delinquent guy starts crying. Snot’s running down his face. Gross…

Mii-chan walks over to Jin-san, waving her paws. What’s she up to?

“What is it, little kitty?”

Mii-chan happily pats Jin-san’s hand with her paws. Is she congratulating him?

“Oh, uh, thanks.”
“Mii~”

Next up is Mukata’s younger brother versus Glenhart-san. Mukata is wielding a spear, and his stance looks solid.

“Hmm. That’s quite a stance. This should be enjoyable.”
“Please go easy on me. I’ve already agreed to Nero-san’s proposal.”

“Oh? Then I’ll hold back a little.”

Mukata uses the spear’s reach to repeatedly attack, but Glenhart-san effortlessly parries each strike with a calm expression.

“Y-you’re really strong…”
“Understanding that means you have potential. But I can tell you’ve got a hidden move you haven’t used yet. Are you going to show it?”

“Well, it’s still a work in progress…”
“Nothing beats learning from real combat.”

“You won’t blame me if something happens?”
“Should I be looking forward to it?”
“Who knows?”

Their conversation is quite laid-back, despite the fight. Even so, Mukata’s expression turns serious as he crouches into a proper stance, preparing to charge.

Gathering all his strength in his legs, Mukata dashes forward with a powerful thrust aimed straight at Glenhart-san’s chest. With a loud clang and a burst of sparks, something goes flying.

“Well, I thought it was a good hit…”
“That was a nice twist you added. It even cracked my sword. Quite the impressive strike.”

“Oh… the spearhead broke off. Well, whatever.”

That was oddly anticlimactic. But still, it was a great fight. I feel like I just saw a glimpse of a hero’s strength.

Glenhart-san looks over at us. What now?

“Aren’t you going to congratulate me, little kitten?”

Mii-chan snaps to attention and waves her paws again. This time, she pats Glenhart-san’s hand. He seems even happier than Mii-chan does.

“Alright then… I’ll wrap this up beautifully for my master.”

Letty-san removes her robe, revealing a tight-fitting outfit that shows off her curvaceous figure. I already saw her great figure at the bath, but still, wow… Rosalinde’s icy stare is painful, though.

Her opponent is Okumura-san, who’s holding a sword and shield. His previously unsure expression is now replaced with determination. Could he be the type to change during battle?

“Let’s have a good match.”
“A match? Don’t get it twisted. My job is to eliminate anyone who poses a threat to my young master.”
“So, am I an enemy, then?”
“I’d like to know that too. Do you plan to side with us?”
“To be honest, I’m confused. That’s why I need to calm down first.”
“Will fighting help you do that?”
“When I focus on something, I find a sense of calm, not just in battle.”
“Then let’s see you get calm!”

Letty-san throws her dagger. It’s an Artifact (AF) dagger, apparently. Okumura tries to block it with his kite shield and move forward, but Letty-san keeps throwing more, preventing him from advancing.

“How many do you have?!”
“Hm? I only have one.”
“Stop lying!”
“This is an AF dagger. No matter how many times I throw it, it returns to my hand.”
“I don’t care if it’s an AF or whatever, this is unfair!”
“Hurry up and calm down, young lady.”
“Y-young lady…”
“There’s no such thing as fair or unfair in a fight.”
“…”

“Alright, I’ll stop using it. This is a special exception, just for you.”

Letty-san puts the dagger away and draws a small sword instead, casually approaching Okumura.

“Thank you for holding back, but don’t blame me if I use this to my advantage.”

With that, Okumura swings his sword at Letty-san. So, it was all an act? That’s a bit too clever, isn’t it? I had him pegged as a goody-two-shoes, but he’s showing a ruthless side in his pursuit of victory.

“Why won’t my attacks land?!”

Even though he’s finally managed to close the distance, Okumura’s sword keeps missing. It doesn’t look like Letty-san is dodging. Why?

“What’s wrong? I’m right here in front of you.”
“Why…? Is this some kind of skill?”
“Who knows? Shall we call it a day?”

Letty-san moves next to Okumura, placing her small sword against his neck. Okumura’s face pales as he drops his sword.

“No… I couldn’t do anything?”

Letty-san’s victory is clear. The fight ended so fast, I barely understood what happened.

Mii-chan is now waving her paws toward Letty-san to properly show her respect.

Mii-chan, did you understand what just happened?
“Mii?”
