Chapter 176 - Divine Cat Mii-chan Helps with the Move

176 Divine Cat Mii-chan Helps with the Move

The next morning, when I tried to take Leti outside, she refused, saying it was too hot. After all that long bath time, you’re telling me you don’t want to go out because it’s hot?! Stand there—I shall punish you!

Just as I was thinking that, the doorbell rang, signaling a visitor.

It was Ilse, Yan’s mother, and Kaya.

I invited Ilse to sit on the sofa and introduced Lu-kun and Lal-kun to Kaya. Lu-kun and Lal-kun enthusiastically launched a “play with us!” attack on Kaya, overwhelming her. I asked Yan’s mother to keep an eye on them while I took Lu-kun and Lal-kun outside.

“Have you made a decision?”

“Yes, I would like to be taken care of by the Divine Cat Trading Company. But, are you sure about the conditions you’ve offered?”

“If you’re concerned, we can formalize the contract with the Commercial Guild.”

“No, I’m not that worried. It’s just about the place to live…”

“Lala, could you show Ilse to the room and explain everything to her?”

“Understood.”

Ilse left the room with Lala. It’s just a short walk away. While waiting, I passed the time by petting Mii-chan and Kai. Yuri-san is resting in the room today. Kai is a quiet one, clinging to Mii-chan so much that Yuri gets jealous at home—what a spoiled one, wiggling around.

“Mii.”

“Mew.”

As I sipped the tea Katia had brewed, Ilse returned, looking a bit excited.

“Are you sure we can use that room?”

“There are three of you, so I think that size is just right. But if you don’t like it, we can prepare another room.”

“No! That room is more than enough!”

Apparently, it’s much larger than where they currently live. I wonder—if the three of them are staying in a room smaller than that one, is it like a cramped guild dorm? In that case, they should move right away.

“But we haven’t started working yet…”

“That’s fine. The stall is already here, so it’s more efficient for you to move and learn the job. Katia, please handle the employment contract and the debt repayment. Let’s plan the move for tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?”

“Yes, tomorrow. Today, just sort out what to take, leave behind, or discard. We’ll handle the transportation.”

“Understood.”

We headed outside, and Mii-chan brought out the Divine Cat’s stall.

“It’s cute.”

“Mom, is this what we’ll use for work?”

“We’ll go to the Commercial Guild later to sign a contract for the stall’s location. Ideally, we’ll get a spot in the central square. Since it’s a bit of a distance, we can have Baro pull the stall there.”

“Baro? Do we have one?”

“Yes, a cute one. Want to see?”

“I want to!”

So, guided by Lu-kun and Lal-kun, we went to the stables and stored the stall in the warehouse.

At the stables, Sumire had taken the horses to the ranch, but the two Baros were quietly nestled together in the stable. They seem to get along well.

“They’re so cute!”

The two Baros came up to us, rubbing their faces against ours. According to old Ben, it’s a sign of affection. Mii-chan, Kai, Lu-kun, and Lal-kun also snuggled up to the Baros. Kaya and I petted them on the head. Kaya seemed to get along well with the Baros, so there should be no issues.

“Mii.”

The next day, I asked Pero and the others to take a break and requested help with the Yan family’s move. Lala and Katia also brought cleaning supplies to assist.

I invited Leti, but she refused. Dang it!

Once everyone was ready, we boarded the carriage. Among the horses Sumire brought, the ones with the lighter illnesses had recovered, and old Ben had finished their training. According to him, they were smart horses, so no real training was necessary. Sumire must’ve considered this when she brought them along.

The Yan family lived on the very edge of the southern district, near the border of the so-called slums, in a row of tenement houses. Yan and Kaya ran out to greet us as soon as we got off the carriage.

I sent Ilse with Katia to the district head to settle the debt and discuss vacating their current home.

I asked Pero and Lu to handle the bulky trash, while Mii-chan and I packed the rest of the belongings. Later, Lala, Yan, and Kaya joined in the cleaning.

When we took the bulky trash outside, people from the slums quickly grabbed it. To them, it must have seemed like treasure. Even the children were carrying things with all their might, so I handed out Mii-chan cookies, which they loved. I also made sure they had a cup of mineral water each. No matter the world, the gap between rich and poor exists. I’d like to do something about it, but there’s not much I can do…

Most of the furniture was provided at the new place, so there wasn’t much to pack.

“Our place was this spacious?”

“Surprising, isn’t it?”

“Mii.”

Well, that’s how it goes once you clear everything out. Time to clean up. Just as we finished most of the cleaning, Ilse and the district head returned. They needed to check the house and return the keys before handing it over.

Everything was in order, and the handover was complete. Ilse also managed to repay the debt and rent without any issues. Katia is really reliable.

After saying their farewells to the neighbors, it was time to head to the new house. The Yan family seemed deeply moved as they left their familiar home behind.

“Mii.”
