Chapter 130 - Divine Cat Mii-chan Takes Care of the Fairies

130 Divine Cat Mii-chan Takes Care of the Fairies

“Welcome, Nero, Mii-chan. So glad you came, woof!”

Patto-san greeted us with a smile. Mii-chan jumped on Patto-san, licking his face and nibbling on his ears. It seems Mii-chan couldn’t resist the temptation of his ears either, though I’m a bit jealous… I wish she’d let me cuddle her too. Perro, Sera, and Lu-kun are very popular with the kids. Sumire seems happy being taken care of by the adult kobolds.

“I sold the materials from last time, so I bought some stuff with the money.”

“Oh, really! That’s great, woof!”

I began unpacking the items in the central square of the kobold village. Huh? Was there really this much? Mii-chan, is there more?

“Mii~”

“Nero, that’s an incredible amount, woof.”

“I-it’s fine. We can share with the other fairies, no problem.”

“Everyone will be so happy, woof! That’s a wonderful idea!”

Patto-san really is a good person… well, a kobold.

The kobold children cautiously bit into the fruit, grinning widely. I guess it’s a type they can’t get around here. And Perro, why are you eating it? Sera, you stop eating too.

“Nero is so stingy, mii.”

“Mii.”

Mii-chan seems to have finished unpacking and is now playing with the kobold children.

We’ll be staying in this village overnight. Patto-san insisted, so I couldn’t refuse. Apparently, there’s going to be a big feast tonight, with other fairies from nearby joining—rabbits, tanukis, and raccoons, I think? I can’t wait to cuddle them!

During the feast, Patto-san and I discussed future plans, and he agreed to gather materials for me. When I showed the illustration of a rare material, a frog fairy exclaimed, “I’ve seen that, ribbit! I’ve seen that, ribbit!” while dancing. We showed it to others as well, and it turns out some of them recognized it, so it seems like we’ll be able to gather everything.

The other fairies have become quite motivated too, and they’ve even expressed interest in trading with the Divine Cat Trading Company.

“Mii!”

The representative of the Divine Cat Trading Company has declared that we’ll take care of all of them. Yes.

Patto-san will handle the coordination, leaving it to the kobolds. I’ve made a list of all the things we need, so I’ll bring them next time.

The next morning, resisting the temptation of the kobolds’ fluffiness, we head towards the wyvern relay station with Sera leading the way. Fluffy…

Ahead of us, I spotted a simple barricade made of wooden planks.

“Stop! Who goes there?”

A soldier from the watchtower is aiming a bow at us.

“We’re from the Divine Cat Trading Company, here to deliver supplies at the request of Elena from the dragon knight squad.”

“Elena, you say… Wait a moment. We need to confirm.”

After a short wait, the gate opened, and a familiar face, Martin, appeared.

“It’s been a while. Please, come in.”

Inside, ten wyverns were lined up, lying down. What a sight. The sheer presence is overwhelming.

“Mii~”

Mii-chan jumped out of the carrier bag and ran toward the wyverns. Be careful, okay?

“Stop her! Someone, stop her!”

“No need! Let her be!”

The soldiers nearby were startled. Naturally, they were concerned about a kitten running towards the wyverns, only to be told it wasn’t necessary to stop her.

Unfazed, Mii-chan reached the wyverns.

“Mii~”

With one cry, one of the wyverns slowly raised its head. I can’t tell them apart, but maybe it’s Martin’s wyvern. Mii-chan approached it and started rubbing against it affectionately.

“It’s unbelievable, seeing it right in front of my eyes.”

The other soldiers were left standing there with their mouths open. Mii-chan began greeting the other wyverns as well. Isn’t she scared?

“So, what supplies did Elena request?”

“Food and daily necessities.”

“That’s a big help. We’ve been receiving some supplies, but not nearly enough.”

I called Mii-chan back, and we moved on to the next location. First up was the warehouse, where Mii-chan unloaded the goods from her bag. The warehouse manager was so happy he cried.

Next, we moved to what seemed to be the soldiers’ quarters, enjoying tea while I heard about their attack on the goblins’ base.

“We attacked with two squads, eight wyverns, but almost half of the fireballs were blocked by some sort of barrier. The palace suffered no damage at all, and the damage to the residential areas and the walls was minimal.”

“A barrier?”

“Yes, it blocked the wyverns’ fireball attacks.”

Could it be a skill of the Goblin King, or perhaps some kind of supernatural ability? Either way, it’s incredibly troublesome.

“Anything else?”

“Yes, they had something resembling a catapult. It didn’t seem functional, but still.”

“That’s dangerous. It means they have the intelligence to build a catapult, and with time, they could perfect it.”

“Indeed.”

“It seems they are planning to start a war with the Demon King of the West. What do you think about that?”

“Oh? Where did you hear that?”

“From Gaou-san. He said the goblins have allied with the Killer Spider Queen, who opposes them.”

“Mii~”

“I see. The war hasn’t escalated much yet. For now, it’s more of a standoff.”

“Do you think it’ll turn into a full-blown war?”

“It seems likely unless we can stop the goblins’ momentum.”

“Mii…”

This is troubling. But there’s not much we can do about it. When will that peaceful life I dream of ever come…?

“Mii…”
