Chapter 374: Information, And World Shopping
Delta stared at him as if he was an idiot.
"You want a what now?" she asked. "A system? Why would you want to create something ominous like that?"
"You don't know?" Neraxis tilted his head. "Lagus can probably control us all once he regains his power because all our systems are tied to him."
"That's not true," Delta replied flatly. "I understand how you've come to that assumption, but he's only a power source..."
She trailed off, letting out a sigh. "You're learning more and more about Lagus each time I see you. What was it this time? Did you get another memory fragment of his?"
"Hmm... you could say that. But I'm serious about this, Delta. If you know anything, then I need your help," Neraxis stated in a serious tone.
Noticing that she wasn't convinced, he continued. "Look, I expelled Lagus out of my mind earlier, but I did learn a lot. Definitely more than I would have learned if I hadn't approached you first."
He sighed. "So what I'm saying is that I appreciate you acting as my mentor... somewhat."
"Somewhat?" Delta raised a brow. "Is there something bothering you, Neraxis?"
Maybe the fact that you tried to kill me as a child...?
As much as he tried to avoid that thought, it kept echoing inside his mind. The hateful glare he saw right as his vision faded. It really bothered him.
But even so, he simply stared into her eyes and waited for her to answer.
Soon, she did.
"Hmm... to make a system, you must first own a world," Delta said, putting a hand on her chin. "Or, you can simply create your own world, just as I've done here."
His eyes widened as he glanced around, then returned his gaze to her.
"This counts as a world...? Isn't it..."
"Too small?" Delta finished. "It is very small, yes. But the only thing you really need in a world is the core to hold down the gravity and all life, and of course, yourself as a catalyst."
She cleared her throat and continued. "Imagine taking a part of yourself and placing it in a remote location. That's basically what you'd be doing with a chunk of your mana. On the bright side, the chunk of mana you store in your personal world is going to be immensely enhanced."
Delta sighed. "The more mana you store in that chunk, the stronger you'll be. The only downside is that if someone were to destroy that world, all the mana you stored there would go to waste. What I mean is, you'd pretty much lose all your mana."
"I see..." Neraxis muttered. "And is there any way to keep it safe?"
"Obviously. Just don't tell anyone," Delta replied with a chuckle. "Make sure you don't leave behind traces and you should be fine. Though that's only an optimistic answer, I suppose. I highly doubt you can hide your presence as well as I can."
Even though she said that, a conflicted look appeared on her face.
"Though you finding my world was unexpected. I never showed you the outside, and the sun you had seen from inside was fake. So I'm rather curious... how did you find out?" Delta asked in a serious tone. "Does anyone else know?"
Aside from Evangeline, he highly doubted anyone knew about it. Well, except for Lagus.
"Yes. Lagus likely knows about it," Neraxis replied, causing her brows to furrow.
"I see..." she mumbled. "o an attack is expected once he recovers a bit more of his strength. It's unfortunate, but I'm glad you were truthful with me."
Delta turned her back to him and began walking away. Yet just as she was about to enter the castle, she glanced back over her shoulder, flashing him a knowing grin.
"Just a friendly tip, but it's best to take over worlds rather than create them. Of course... that only applies to those who have the balls to go through with it."
"And you think I don't?" Neraxis raised a brow. "I'll have you know, I've done much worse than that."
"And so have I," Delta replied. "But I don't go around bragging about it. Neither should you. We're already beings who have broken the natural laws of all the worlds multiple times, so whenever we finally perish, our souls would likely be disintegrated."
He simply nodded, unsure of how to respond to such a philosophical statement.
Nonetheless, Delta walked inside the castle, and he could hear her ordering Amara and the others around. It seemed like she scattered them out from the castle as each one began to teleport away.
Neraxis seemed puzzled for a few moments until, out of nowhere, the ground shook, causing him to nearly fall over. Yet he didn't, instead, he focused on what Delta was doing.
She was standing still, likely absorbing the mana from the world, as with each passing moment, the world's size began to decrease.
Noticing that, Neraxis didn't stay for long as he focused his mind and teleported.
He wasn't sure where he was going, as he simply wished to appear on any small world.
And after a few moments, he reappeared in a grassy land.
The air was warmer, yet it still seemed like his world, at least in essence.
But as he flew up into the sky and glanced around, his brows furrowed.
The world was small. It was literally the size of the mall he always used to go to.
It was a good thing that it was empty, but even so, this didn't feel right.
He focused, teleporting again.
But like before, he came across the same result. It wasn't satisfying. He knew this was what he was looking for, but at the same time, he knew he could do better.
So like that, Neraxis proceeded to teleport back and forth between the worlds, and each time, he faced no success.
As he teleported one final time, he suddenly felt a ripple in space. But just like that, it vanished, and he reappeared on another unsatisfactory world.
However, that gave him an idea...
What if I don't limit myself to a world...?
