The Sound of a Silent Life

Chapter 80: [81] Memories from More Than a Decade Ago

---

"Knock... knock... knock...!"

"Coming, who is this?" As Yuu's voice came from inside the house, the knocking on the door stopped abruptly.

"Grandma Yuu!" As soon as the door was opened a crack, the sweet voices of Tsuna and Shouko reached her ears.

"Okay, okay." Yuu was naturally happy to see her beloved grandson and future granddaughter-in-law. She rubbed their heads with her hands, then looked up at her son and daughter-in-law with a calm face. "What are you doing here?"

Daisuke caught a glimpse of disgust in his mother's eyes and hurriedly explained with a smile, "Haha, hasn't it been a long time since I came to see you? I brought Tsuna and the others to accompany you."

"Didn't you come here with two big fish more than a month ago?" Yuu rolled her eyes speechlessly, took Tsuna and Shouko's hands, and walked into the house, turning back to say to the two of them, "Remember to close the door."

The three of them walked into the living room, and as soon as they sat down at the coffee table, Shouko handed the blank envelope in her left hand to Yuu and whispered, "Grandma Yuu, this is for you."

"Let grandma guess..." Yuu took the empty piece of letter paper, looked at it, and recalled for a while. Then, she turned her head with a helpless look on her face and looked at the two of them softly, "You're not planning to let grandma write this and bury it in the ground, are you?"

Tsuna instantly caught the question in grandma's words after hearing this and couldn't help but ask out of curiosity, "Also? Grandma, why did you add an 'also' in your words?"

Yuu raised the corner of her mouth and waited for the couple to change their shoes at the entrance and walk into the living room before slowly explaining:

"That's because more than a decade ago, Daisuke and Shizuka also buried this thing in the small courtyard in the front yard the day before they got married." After saying this, Yuu picked up the time capsule that Tsuna had placed on the coffee table and looked at it.

Daisuke sat down next to the coffee table and peeled the orange on it, saying with a puzzled look, "Really? Why don't I have any impression of this at all…"

The peeled orange was snatched away by his mother, who was standing beside him, just as he was about to put it in his mouth. He could only pick up another one and peel it, then said lightly, "I don't have any symptoms of early Alzheimer's disease."

"Yes!" Shizuka exclaimed, and everyone looked at her, wanting to hear her continue. However, Yuu chose to ignore her and continued writing the letter ten years later on the coffee table.

"I said, if it wasn't for mom reminding me, I really forgot. I would dig it out and read it when Tsuna was ten years old. It's all your fault for not reminding me." After saying this, she patted Daisuke's shoulder with resentment and directly snatched the orange he had just peeled.

After listening to her, Shouko asked in surprise, "Auntie, have you buried time capsules before?" She racked her brain and couldn't imagine that her aunt would bury such things.

"Ahem..." Tsuna coughed twice, lowered his voice, and quietly explained to his mother and Shouko, "Shouko, every mother was once an innocent girl, but later she began to change slowly because of life. Except for a few who are wrapped in love, there will not be much change."

After speaking, he secretly glanced at his mother, and then she noticed him through her peripheral vision and glared at him, so he quickly looked away.

After hearing this, Shouko began to imagine what her mother looked like in the past. She could not imagine that her strong-willed mother would have been an innocent girl back then.

"It's done!" Yuu put down the pen in her hand, put the paper into the envelope, and handed it to the chatting Shouko. "Let's go, I'll take you to the place where they buried it before."

Tsuna stood up and asked Yuu curiously, "Grandma, why do you still remember this? Obviously, my parents have forgotten about it." The others were also curious.

At first, Yuu's face was fine until Tsuna asked this question. Her face changed instantly, and she said angrily:

"Every time I turn the soil to plant new vegetables, I dig it out once, then I put it back, waiting for you to dig it up. Have you forgotten it all these years?" After saying this, she raised her hand to pat her son's arm. The good grandson and granddaughter-in-law were not wrong. The daughter-in-law should not be beaten, so she could only beat her son to vent her anger. As for why she didn't ask grandma and why she didn't remind her parents, it was because some things could be known without asking, just like grandma always put it back in place when she dug it out, instead of throwing it away or moving it.

---

"Is that it? Mom, are you sure you remember it correctly?" Everyone walked to the front yard, where Yuu planted some small vegetables, and Daisuke took a hoe and asked curiously.

"I remember it correctly. Hurry up and dig it. You have asked me several times. Are you annoying?" Yuu rolled her eyes speechlessly and wanted to walk up to take the hoe and dig it herself.

Daisuke dodged her hand and said, "Hey, hey, hey, I know. You move aside and I'll dig it."

After a minute or two, Tsuna really saw his father dig out a large capsule about half a meter long, made of iron. It could be seen that his parents had spent a lot of money on it at the time.

Shizuka watched Daisuke put the time capsule with rust on the surface in front of everyone and couldn't help but worry, "I don't know if the things inside are still good."

She couldn't remember what was in it at all. After all, it had been more than ten years. She was a little curious but also a little worried.

"Open it first and take a look. After that, put the one that Shouko put in this and bury it. Otherwise, I'm afraid it will break in a few years." Daisuke squatted down and tried to open it, but after three or four minutes, he couldn't twist it open.

"Uncle, can you..." Shouko was covered by Tsuna before she finished speaking. He knew that Shouko was still young and didn't understand the impact of this sentence on a man.

Tsuna released Shouko's mouth and shook his head at her. After confirming that his father didn't hear him, he laughed and said, "Haha... Dad, keep going. Come on, we believe in you."

In the end, Daisuke relied on the power of a tool to strengthen it. It took about five minutes to fully open it, and everyone gathered around.

Shouko walked to the time capsule, squatted down, picked up a yellowed photo, and looked at it. She stared at the two people inside for a while before she asked in confusion, "Are these aunt and uncle? They don't look alike."

Tsuna was the first to react. He came to Shouko's side and took the photo from her hand. Although the photo was yellowed, the two people inside were still clear.

Shizuka and Daisuke, on the side, also put down their things and came over to check. Tsuna handed the photo to them, wanting them to explain the people in the photo and what they were doing at the time.
