THE SECRET PACT

THE APPRENTICE MAFIOSO drove back to his house. The radio was playing Crazy, crazy nights and Tommy turned up the volume, as if he were in a teenage frenzy. Not that the loud rock music kept him awake, but it made the journey more interesting.

Two fried eggs, bacon and bottled orange juice were his meal as soon as he got home; it was the most he knew how to do in the kitchen. Once he was free of hunger, he would sleep better and for longer and the tiredness would finally leave him.

With the curtains tightly closed, the room became cozy again and he could go back to sleep as he wished.
