Chapter 8: COWARDICE
Mr Antonio's POV
"I don't think I can do it sir," Luis said to me. This kid wasn't giving in so, I had to figure out another way to make him accept my offer.
I sat upright on my chair and looked at him seriously. "Luis, I practically raised you like my own son and I'm telling you to do this because I am looking out for both my son and you," I said to him calmly. At some point,I needed to convince him.
"I know that sir but I still can't do it because the Cruz family is not planning anything against us at least for now and besides,we are family," Luis replied with disagreement . This kid was beginning to annoy me.
"Alright,I didn't want to say this but I guess I have to," told Luis, having figured out a way to accept it. "Who do you think is the mastermind behind the attack in Diego yesterday?" The moment I said that, Luis' eyes widened and I couldn't help but smirk secretly.
"How did you find out sir?" Luis questioned shockingly. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect Diego from getting hurt.
I could see the guilt in Luis' eyes when he apologised to me but it didn't matter to me; rather it gave me a chance to make him accept my offer.
"It's alright,it wasn't your fault," I said in a convincing way. "That's why I instructed you to keep an eye on them and every of their dealings." Luis wanted to say something but I stopped him in his tracks.
"I can't tell you anything I know for now, but when I'm sure I will tell you," I concluded.
"Alright sir,I will do as you say," Luis finally agreed. He bid me goodbye then got up and left. I was filled with satisfaction and accomplishment that I didn't have to do any dirty work myself.
Diego's POV
The threat I received made me more eager to find out who wanted me dead. I reached for my phone that was in my back pant's pocket and dialed Rodrigo's number.
"Hello boss," Rodrigo greeted at the other end of the call.
"What have you found out?" I asked sharply. There was a brief silence at the other end before Rodrigo spoke up.
"We didn't find out much sir but we are close to getting reasonable information," Rodrigo said. This shit was driving me crazy and the last thing I needed was for some idiot to make me feel crazy while chasing after them.
"I'll be right there," I told Rodrigo and ended the call. I instructed the driver to take me to where Rodrigo was and he immediately obeyed.
About 30 minutes later, we reached the location and I got down from the car and headed inside the building where he was.
"Good to see you boss," Ignacio said when he saw me. "I have an update concerning the situation." I liked the way he went straight to the point.
"Tell me quickly," I instructed him. The sooner I find the person threatening me,the faster all of this could end. I also didn't want to deal with the same problem another day.
"Well, the man called Mr Javier and asked to meet him. It was the first time they met and their discussion was related to the Castillo syndicate," he explained.
"And?" I asked for more explanation.
"That's the problem sir, I could only find out that the topic of their meeting that day was about your syndicate and the rest of the information was discrete and is stored in their online database which is highly encrypted," Luis explained leaving me disappointed.
"What am I paying you for or why do you think I chose you as my personal hacker?" I asked Ignacio. "You are one of the highest profilers I know, so you should be able to crack the encryption and enter into their database.
Ignacio stared at me like I was going to punish him any moment from now. "Yes boss,I will do that as soon as I can and give you a positive update," he assured me.
"As soon as possible," I said to Ignacio before turning to speak with Rodrigo.
"Where is Luis?" I asked Rodrigo knowing fully well that Luis is always with me anywhere I go and always told me where he goes.
"I don't know where he is boss, I haven't seen him all day even at the office," Rodrigo replied to me.
"Alright then, tell me when there's an update," I said and left the building. As I entered the car, I dialed Luis' number but he didn't pick up.
"Take me home," I instructed the driver as the car left the building. I didn't want to go back to my office till the situation was fully under control.
Immediately I got home, I went up the stairs and was about to go to my bedroom when I heard voices coming from Adriana's room. I went closer and noticed that she was speaking casually to someone.
"Who could she be speaking with?" I asked myself.
