The Reluctant Hero: Summoned Again and Again

Chapter 16: Ch 16

Alexander approached the outside of the storage room, and before anyone could notice him, he hid behind the tall grass with Arthur in his hand.

Arthur was surprised by the sudden change in his big brother's attitude. Alexander, who had been carefree until now, suddenly became serious.

Alexander looked at Arthur with serious eyes and spoke in a hushed tone, "Listen, Arthur. What I'm about to tell you is the most important thing in the world, and you have to promise to help me fulfill it."

Arthur, looking into his brother's eyes, now filled with fire, couldn't refuse. He gulped and nodded his head.

Alexander, understanding his brother's response, sighed in relief. His brother would help him—unlike his friends.

"You see, Arthur, behind that storage is the supreme nectar of life. If you take just one sip of it, you'll feel like you're rising above the clouds. It's so sweet that even chocolate tastes bland in comparison."

"It's known as 'BUTTER.' If you help me get it, I'll give you half of what I get. So, do we have a deal?"

Listening to his brother's words, Arthur's mouth began to water. Until now, the only thing he had eaten was milk. He also wanted to taste something sweet, and the way his brother described it made it irresistible. He nodded again.

Alexander smiled. "Good."

"Now, I'll go and distract the guard at the storage room. You go in from behind and bring as much butter as you can."

Alexander ran toward the guard to distract him.

Arthur, watching his brother's back, thought, *"At least tell me where the butter is... and how am I supposed to bring it out?"*

Not knowing what to do, Arthur started observing Alexander's interaction with the guards.

---

The two guards saw Alexander approaching and exchanged a knowing look, guessing why he was coming their way.

As Alexander reached the storage gate, the two guards stepped in front of him and blocked his path.

One of the tall guards spoke, "Sorry, young master. The chief has forbidden you from entering the storage house."

"Uncle Jerry, Uncle Ham, why are you guys being so strict? Let me go inside the storage house. I'll bring some extra butter for you, and nobody will ever know. What do you say?" Alexander asked with a sly smile.

The two guards sighed helplessly. They couldn't help but be swayed by their stubborn and adorable young master. They wanted to scold him, but at the same time, they couldn't resist his charm.

The way Alexander spoke always managed to reach people's hearts.

Alexander, sensing he had successfully distracted the guards, could only pray that his little brother would find some extra butter.

But then, it suddenly hit him—*he hadn't told Arthur where the butter was located!*

---

Arthur's POV:

Meanwhile, Arthur, realizing that his brother had finally distracted the guards, slowly entered the storage room through a window. Inside, the storage house was enormous, with several sacks of rice and seeds scattered around.

However, Arthur had a clear goal in mind. He was determined to find the butter at all costs. The best way he could think to do that was by using his special ability:

**"Put the item in inventory,"** (because his inventory had an identification function).

Since his previous battle with the Thousand Arm Giant, half of his inventory had been emptied, leaving him with space to store new items.

Arthur began putting items from the storage house into his inventory.

---

**You put 1 kg of rice into the inventory.**

**You removed 1 kg of rice from the inventory.**

...

**You put 1 kg of beans into the inventory.**

**You removed 1 kg of beans from the inventory.**

---

Using this trial-and-error method, Arthur searched for the butter, and time slowly passed.

---

Meanwhile, outside, Alexander was growing increasingly worried about Arthur.

"Will little bro be able to find the butter? It's already been an hour. I can't keep stalling Uncle Jerry and Uncle Ham much longer—they'll start to suspect something."

And if they find Arthur... not only will I not get the butter, but I'll also get a beating from Father.

"Sigh, Arthur, hurry up!" Alexander thought as he continued to entertain the guards.

---

Inside the storage house, Arthur had already searched the entire room but hadn't found a trace of butter. His frustration was growing. How long had it been since he last ate anything? It felt like centuries.

And the way his big brother had described the butter made his already hungry self long for it even more. But still, he couldn't find it.

Did Father change the storage location because of Big Brother's constant attempts to take it? he wondered, sighing.

"Let's search for a few more minutes. If I still can't find it, I'll give up," Arthur muttered to himself.

He started checking the corners and places he had already searched when suddenly, a small bird flew in through the window he had left open, entering the storage house.

The sound of the bird alerted the guards.

"Hey, Ham, did you hear something just enter the storage house?" Uncle Jerry asked.

Hearing this, all the hairs on Alexander's body stood up in alarm.

"Am I not going to get the butter this time either?" he thought in despair.
