Chapter 546: Of Unadministered Oaths
[SICARIO]
"Agreed. It's impossible and doesn't make any sense," Theo said like he was scared of the truth that was staring at them in the face.
Denial was something they had struggled to live through but damn the fates for making their lives a tad bit complicated that they didn't even have the time to deal with whatever mess was there for the lot of them.
"Well, it is the truth. The only team that scares even the moon goddess is this one. The Savasci knights. And all the protectors know that which is why they have never made it to the entrance of Sicario.
"They know they aren't welcome here after the last time. Besides, if there are two rogues fucking up the queen's day, then I'm willing to bet my life on the two missing links in the team other than Ruru," Malika explained and they sighed in pride, excitement, and worry at the same time.
They were proud that even though it had been three hundred years, they still managed to have the same spirit that caused trouble everywhere.
They were excited because there was a chance that they would be whole again, and they were worried because if the queen set out to seek them, then they must have done things that the devil himself was scared of picking out.
Deep down, they were all happy that their normal was back, but at what cost, right?
"Well, if we can scare the moon goddess, the scaring that damned queen who makes us suffer shouldn't be as hard. I say we go to Olyana and turn the damn palace upside down and come back.
"Leave her a warning and tell her that we won't do the stupid work she keeps giving us like we are her servants. I have never met a scornful person like that queen, oh the day I meet her, I will wring her neck and make her feel what we are feeling…
"...of course, I'll apologize to her later," Adolf ranted about the queen as usual.
His spite for the woman was nothing new to them so they wanted for him to finish because if they interrupted his cursing session for the queen, they would be forced to listen to him in the mind links which was not the safest palace.
The mind links couldn't be shut momentarily because only Hawi had access to shut or open them, and the entire team would suffer for that.
"I fear you might not be able to do that. The queen has so much security and protectors too. Even if you bribe us with enough food to make the terrible decision, we might be bested, either by the forces of the palace or by a familiar face," Hudhayfah said.
The Savasci knights were getting confused with each word that came out of Hudhayfah's mouth.
You would think that Adolf was the confusing one seeing as he was always confused and raging most of the time, but the healer was slowly starting to not make sense to them.
They had all the resources and could easily take out that queen if they put their mind to it.
"How did you know I would bribe you with food?" Adolf asked and they all burst out laughing at the question. They had been together for years and years and that was the most basic thing that they could sell their souls for to each other.
Anyone would think that the knights were always starved or that they didn't have the magic to conjure food and make their lives easier.
However, at the end of the day, away from their world and the personalities that scared people, they were just a bunch of misfits who loved each other and were normal too… in their own way.
"Anyway, the bottom line is, if the queen went to the human lands, then we have to try and reach Kadiam or Dumi. They are part of the queen's guard and they will be there with her in case of anything," Malika said, reminding them of the annoying protectors from the past.
"And here I thought their souls burned in hell for the way they took Ruru from us," Elodie said softly and the room was filled with soft whimpers.
Time had passed, but the pain from that loss was one that they would never let go. It was the worst of all time and they hoped that they would be able to get through it someday.
"Well, we can go after them and see what the queen is doing there. And that will give us a chance if the two rogues they talked about are our misfits or just random rogues," Hudhayfah said and this time they looked at each other excitedly.
This team was insane and it wasn't news for them. They had so many things together and if this was their chance to get outside the realm without making the queen feel like she was a terrible master of time, then sure they would do it.
Besides, the woman went into the human realm and there was nothing that would stop them.
"I volunteer," Elodie said.
"I'll go with her," Zane added.
The two of them were not that bad a match, but then at the same time, them being out of the realm would point more fingers than they intended to have on them. They had endured a lot to fuck it up this time.
"Elodie has a direct link to Hawi. And you, Zaniel, have a direct link to Mbali. If the both of you leave the room suddenly anyone with a brain would know that you left for the most important people in your lives, so that's a no," Hudhayfah said and they grumbled.
The excitement had started showing and the longer they thought of the possibilities, the more they realized that the fact that they were Savasci knights was already putting them out of the game.
The Savasci knights were ruthless even if they were kind, so it wasn't going to be hard for them to stand out in the middle of that many people anyway.
"Trey and I won't stand out. No one other than you lot knows that my princess is my mate or even that Perihan is Trey's mate. And even if they come to figure that out, they won't try shit, not even the queen.
"My brother and I are the Russels, and no matter what good or bad we do, the realm will forever stay scared of us. Use that to your advantage because that new queen is not a match for us, and she won't even try to question us.
"The protectors of Olyana won't fight us to the death because they don't want to owe Hawi lives. Our lives can only be taken by Awuor Hawi and she has granted us freedom for this long.
"It's only best that we be the ones out there. And before you start talking about us killing Hawi and my princess, keep in mind that they are one and the same in this group, other than the fact that they are immortal like you lot.
"If I try to kill Hawi, my princess will never talk to me, and that is just a risk that I cannot afford. And I can't kill my princess which means my brother won't do shit. Trey won't kill Hawi because his Perihan swore his life to the servitude of the wild girl, and he can't kill my princess…"
