Chapter 531
Chapter 531: Long Time No See. (2)
No one here could tell how he was cut down.
Yulien didn’t look back. He seemed completely uninterested in the fallen superhuman.
He was still riding forward, spurring his horse.
“Th-this is insane…”
Marquis Aldred’s face turned pale with fear.
To kill a superhuman in a single strike! He had never seen such a skill in his life.
The rebel soldiers were the same. They fell into a state of panic as their only trusted superhuman was eliminated in an instant.
“Stop him! Block that guy!”
With remarkable judgment and decisiveness, Aldred shouted loudly as he retreated.
The soldiers, in sheer confusion, stepped forward without knowing what was going on.
And in the midst of their chaos, Yulien jumped in.
Slash!
He merely entered among the enemies. Yet, the heads of those around him flew off in an instant.
There was no massive explosion or shockwave. It was only a clean swing of his sword, but such a thing happened.
“AAAH! What is happening!”
“F-fall back!”
“It’s magic! It’s magic!”
The rebel soldiers, startled, widened the distance. Yulien expressionlessly swung his sword again.
Fwoosh!
Slash!
The soldiers around him fell, their necks and bodies severed. Even those who were outside the sword’s radius were affected.
“Monster!”
The soldiers screamed. How could they all die without even touching the sword?
Yulien massacred like a lion entering a flock of sheep.
He wasn’t even using any grand techniques.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Every time he swung his sword from atop the horse, the necks of enemies around him flew off.
It was an absurd sight. The nearby soldiers were busy retreating.
“What are you all doing! Surround him! There’s only one enemy! Just smother him with your bodies!”
Aldred shouted with all his strength, but no one dared to step up courageously.
They were already exhausted after fleeing for two days. With the loss of the superhuman they trusted, their fighting spirit was shattered.
Some soldiers tried to gather their wits and attack. But how could they attack if they couldn’t get close?
Slash!
Before they could even approach Yulien, they were dead, making it impossible to strike.
The remaining knights met the same fate as they charged at Yulien; their bodies split apart upon contact.
The equally dazed Marquis Gideon shouted.
“Attack! Help Lord Yulien!”
There must be a reason for Yulien to act like this. It would be right to assist him.
They held that much deep trust in Yulien. If Ghislaine were to see this, it would surely make him ill.
“WAAAAAH!”
The soldiers of Turian rushed out with a roar. Yulien’s performance had already shattered the enemy’s front line.
Boom!
Aldred’s rebel forces were instantly overwhelmed. On the morale front, they couldn’t compete with Turian’s army.
Especially Yulien’s prowess was unparalleled.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The rebels drawn near to Yulien had their heads severed one after the other. Yulien’s body was not stained with a drop of blood.
However, the Turian soldiers engaged in battle remained unharmed. They had been spared from any injuries, as Yulien selectively killed only the rebels.
No one could comprehend how such a thing was possible.
Monster.
To the rebel soldiers, Yulien was the embodiment of a monster.
Aldred, hurriedly retreating, could not hide his panic-stricken expression.
“W-what is happening here!”
Having barely escaped the devilish Ruthania army, he thought if he just kept running and crossed the border, he would be safe, but he encountered a monster and faced annihilation.
“Stop him! Stop him now!”
No matter how much he yelled, the collapsing situation did not revert.
Realizing it was over, Aldred turned his body. He planned to slip away alone while his allies were fighting.
“Yah!”
Just as he tugged on the reins, a chilling sensation ran down his spine.
Shwoop!
“Gack, guh…”
Aldred turned to look back. Yulien had crept up and thrust his sword into his heart.
Fear gripped him. That emotionless face, conducting slaughter without a word, terrified him.
How could a person’s expression be like that? How could one not show any emotions in such a battlefield?
Was it even possible for a human to fight like that?
What the hell is that monster?
Even while dying, Aldred’s mind was flooded with confusion.
“Who… what are you?”
Thud.
Aldred fell off his horse without ever hearing the answer.
Momentarily gazing down at the corpse, Yulien sheathed his sword and turned the horse’s head around.
Clip-clop, clip-clop.
He didn’t kill anyone else. He merely moved slowly back to his original position.
Still, the surrounding enemies could not charge at him. They had lost their wits in the face of such overwhelming power.
Gideon shouted.
“Everyone drop your weapons and surrender! Then we will spare your lives!”
Remaining rebel soldiers quickly threw down their weapons and fell to the ground. They no longer felt like fighting.
Soldiers preparing for battle from the rear, bewildered as to what had happened, instinctively joined in surrendering.
The battle ended that absurdly. The Turian army erupted in cheers.
“Yaaah!”
“Victory again!”
“Indeed, it is Lord Yulien!”
Regardless of who the opponent was, they fought because Yulien stepped up. And they won.
That was enough for them. It was important to them that they stood alongside Yulien.
Gideon quickly approached Yulien and asked.
“What’s… what happened? Why did you suddenly attack…?”
“Rebels.”
“…”
Yulien dropped that one word and did not provide any further explanation. Gideon was flustered but took a moment to think calmly.
Surely there were no other armies fleeing this way. If there were rebels chased by the Ruthania army, it must be those soldiers.
Just to confirm, he called over a few of the surrendered soldiers and asked, and indeed, they were the rebels.
‘Huh, making such a decisive judgment and acting boldly in that brief moment.’
It was indeed Lord Yulien. Everything he did was right. There was no way not to believe it.
It was a belief that would surely cause Ghislaine considerable discomfort if he learned of it.
With the prisoners in tow, the Turian army moved forward with light steps. Thanks to Yulien’s victories, they felt no fear.
Flap.
Amidst them, a crow suddenly flew in from somewhere.
“Hey! Yulien! You caught the rebels! Good job! Our lord is coming this way!”
“…”
Yulien recognized Dark. He had exchanged messages with Ghislaine several times through Dark.
Gideon grimaced at the cheeky Dark.
‘Ah, that audacious little crow. If he weren’t the spirit of Duke Penris, I would have slapped him silly by now.’
As Ghislaine’s fame grew, Dark became even more brazen. With the previously troublesome Amelia and the cat gone, there was nothing left to fear.
Following Dark’s lead, the Turian army soon encountered the Ruthania army led by Ghislaine.
The moment they laid eyes on them, the Turian soldiers unconsciously gripped their weapons tightly.
The pride they had nurtured until now shattered in an instant.
Boom!
The entire army of the Ruthania approached. The aura they radiated was at a level that the Turian soldiers had never experienced before.
The Turian army realized that those approaching were fundamentally different from them.
The aura emanating from the Ruthania army was so intense it felt suffocating. Some Turian soldiers took deep breaths.
‘This, this is that devil’s army.’
‘Was the Ruthania army this formidable?’
‘Just how strong are those gathered here…?’
The Turian army, emboldened by Yulien, no longer felt fear. With him, they feared no army, confident that they would win regardless of the opponent.
But now they were overwhelmed to the point where they couldn’t even consider thinking of fighting.
If they fought, they would die.
That alone filled their minds.
Gideon, leading the Turian army, was no exception. He found himself cowed by the aura of the opposition and couldn’t even open his mouth.
Only one person.
Yulien strode forward lightly, approaching Ghislaine.
“I am Yulien of the Kingdom of Turian.”
“I am Ghislaine, Duke of Ruthania.”
Ghislaine smiled faintly as he looked at Yulien’s face.
‘Still the same, that cold expression. It’s been a long time.’
He thought it was fascinating back in his previous life.
He appeared to have no emotions at all. As if the feelings of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure had been erased from him.
In reality, Yulien felt no enjoyment from anything.
‘Right, he never enjoyed anything.’
He ate very little, didn’t drink, didn’t gamble, and didn’t meet women.
That didn’t mean he was passionately engaged in anything either. He didn’t dabble in politics.
He merely fought to save people and occasionally read books quietly. That was all.
He could be described as living a colorless existence, disinterested in everything.
Yet, that made him all the more trustworthy. Even the seven great powers of the continent would yield to Yulien’s opinions.
Seeing a somewhat joyful expression on Ghislaine’s face, Yulien fell into slight contemplation.
‘He seems to know me.’
He, too, knew about Duke Penris. He had encountered plenty of information and rumors about him.
However, that expression was not merely that. It felt like he was gladly greeting an old friend.
What was even stranger was that Yulien felt a similar sentiment. Since the day he first heard about Duke Penris, he felt an inexplicable longing.
This brought slight confusion to Yulien. This was something foreign to him, a person disinterested in others.
‘I’ve never met this man before. So why do I feel this way?’
Having lived his entire life trapped in a tower, he couldn’t have possibly met Duke Penris. Yet, he longed for him and felt glad to meet him.
Feeling a first-time emotion in his life, Yulien frowned slightly. It was very perplexing.
Seeing that expression, Ghislaine looked at him with curiosity.
‘Hmm? What’s this?’
It was the first time he had ever seen Yulien make such a face. How could someone who never blink get like this even after a whole day of teasing?
‘Does he smell bad since he hasn’t wiped off the blood?’
Thinking back, Yulien surprisingly had a clean aspect about him. Even now, he was completely clean without a drop of blood on him.
He was a truly ostentatious guy all on his own. Ugh, how annoying.
As Ghislaine reached that conclusion and looked around at himself, Yulien finally spoke.
“First, let’s…”
“Hmm? What is it?”
Before Yulien could finish his sentence, Ghislaine looked down at his chest. Yulien also stopped talking and stared at Ghislaine’s chest.
There, on Ghislaine’s chest, was the necklace he had taken from Berhem, called a sacred relic by the Salvation Society.
Fwoosh!
Bright light began to radiate forth.
