The protagonist who hates losers is so sweet to me.

Chapter 1 - Transmigration into a book.

“Limited patience. This is the last time I say this. Let go of your hand.”
A voice filled with disgust echoed near Yu Qing’s ear, as if it were directed at him.
Before he could comprehend what was happening, he was shoved forcefully. The impact sent him stumbling several steps before he lost his balance and fell on his backside.
At that moment, his first thought was surprisingly positive: At least I didn’t break any bones. How impressive!
He had osteogenesis imperfecta, a condition that made his bones extremely fragile. Even a minor bump could cause bruises or fractures. He was a living “glass doll.” People with this condition typically don’t live long, but thanks to his family’s meticulous care, he miraculously lived for nearly 18 years. However, on the eve of his birthday, he was caught up in a medical dispute at the hospital and died unexpectedly.
Wait, wasn’t he dead?
He sat on the ground, dazed. He looked up at the man who had pushed him, who was now walking away with a baseball bat. The man’s back was unfamiliar, and Yu Qing couldn’t recall who he was.
A loud car horn brought him back to his surroundings. He realized he was on a busy street with tall buildings and hurried pedestrians, some of whom glanced his way.
Carefully, he stood up, surveying the unfamiliar environment with a puzzled expression.
Where is this?
What happened with the medical dispute? Did his family know he was here? They saw him fall down the stairs—he needed to return quickly to avoid worrying them.
He fixed his gaze on the man still within his sight. Although he didn’t know what was happening, this man was the only person he had interacted with and might have answers.
Without much thought, he hurried to catch up with the man. Unexpectedly, as he got closer, he felt an irresistible force pulling him towards the man.
Instinctively closing his eyes, he braced himself for the impact against a solid body. His mind replayed the familiar sound of breaking bones he had experienced countless times. Yet, pain didn’t come. Opening one eye, he saw his intact arm, and his eyes filled with disbelief.
The next moment, his arm was gripped by a large, powerful hand. Yu Qing immediately tensed, “Easy, easy!”
The man’s face was dark with anger. Seeing Yu Qing’s pained expression, he tightened his grip. “Yu Qing, stop being shameless. Keep pestering me, and I’ll break your hand.”
Breaking bones was as common as eating or drinking for Yu Qing. He wasn’t threatened but rather intrigued by the man’s words. “You know me?”
The man yanked him by the collar, causing him to choke. The euphoria in Yu Qing’s heart faded as he was forced to look into the man’s fierce eyes. “I warned you in Tian Luo Town. Seems you won’t cry until you see the coffin.”
Staring at the man’s fierce face, Yu Qing pieced together some key phrases, forming a tentative conclusion. He ventured, “Song Xinqi?”
Song Xinqi’s eyes were filled with disgust. “What are you up to now?”
Despite repeated warnings, Yu Qing never took them seriously. Song Xinqi suppressed his rising anger. If it weren’t for the fact that the city hadn’t been overrun by zombies yet, he would have killed him already.
Seeing the man not deny it, Yu Qing was almost certain he had transmigrated into a book!
And not just any book, but an apocalyptic novel he had read. The fierce man before him was the protagonist, Song Xinqi. The novel described how the overpowered protagonist awakened the strongest psychic ability during the apocalypse, easily overcoming challenges and establishing the largest safe zone.
Yu Qing could adapt quickly because he had always been stuck in the hospital due to his condition, passing time by reading novels and watching shows. He had a broad knowledge from his reading.
Recognizing the world wasn’t due to strong memory but because the novel had a personal touch: a character with his exact name, Yu Qing, who was a useless pretty boy and a troublemaker.
Recalling the original Yu Qing’s tragic end, he felt a bit anxious but quickly composed himself. There was even a hint of joy—if circumstances were different, he might have laughed.
Yu Qing had lived a simple life, mostly in hospitals, always careful. He had no social experiences, and his understanding of others came from the small hospital ward.
Despite his condition, he learned to appreciate life’s simple pleasures, like blue skies, colorful flowers, and enjoyable novels. He felt fortunate to have lived as long as he did.
In this new life, even though it was an apocalyptic world and he was a doomed character, he saw it as a blessing. As long as he stayed alive, even living one more second was a gain!
Song Xinqi watched his rapidly changing expressions with a mix of emotions. Normally, Yu Qing’s acting was poor, but his eyes suddenly appeared pure and clear, as if he had become a different person.
Suppressing the strange feeling, Song Xinqi didn’t understand or care what happened to Yu Qing. His newly evolved abilities were still unstable, causing severe migraines and irritability. “My patience is limited. Let go.”
Yu Qing obediently let go, and the irresistible pull vanished. He knew it was due to the initial psychic link formed by Song Xinqi’s unstable abilities, but explaining it would only annoy him further.
Song Xinqi’s early abilities were unstable, often affecting friend and foe alike. It improved later, but for now, avoiding his wrath was best.
Now seeing Song Xinqi from a different perspective, Yu Qing recalled the protagonist’s cold, ruthless personality. He had sharp features, a clean-cut look, and a fierce demeanor.
Seeing Yu Qing let go without protest, his innocent-looking eyes seemingly genuine, Song Xinqi snorted coldly and walked away.
Yu Qing wandered alone in the unfamiliar city, his thin figure looking pitiful in the autumn wind.
His striking appearance attracted attention, but unlike the imagined sad backstory, he felt quite joyful. It was his first time out alone, and everything was new. Even walking on the pavement was amusing.
After running and playing for a while, he felt tired but happy, with his face flushed and eyes bright.
Once he calmed down, he began thinking about surviving the apocalypse. He had read up on survival tips, like storing canned food, compressed biscuits, vitamins, medical supplies, water, empty bottles, matches, and knives.
He took out the original Yu Qing’s phone, which had a few thousand yuan—enough for a shopping trip. Lost in thought, he absentmindedly bumped into a street lamp.
With a loud thud, passersby looked at the handsome young man holding his reddened forehead and laughing foolishly, shaking their heads in pity.
Yu Qing, holding his aching head, smiled at the lamp post for a long time. Normally, such an impact would make him vomit or faint, but now he only felt pain.
Realizing he now had a healthy body, tears welled up in his eyes. Looking up at the clear sky, he smiled genuinely.
He vowed to live well. Despite being satisfied with his new body, he knew others still saw him as a useless pretty boy with no survival skills. Carrying supplies would make him a target.
Thinking about Song Xinqi, he knew they were psychically linked, so if he died, Song Xinqi would too, prematurely ending the story and jeopardizing the largest safe zone.
He decided to seek Song Xinqi’s protection, but unlike the original Yu Qing, he planned to approach him gently and respectfully, hoping he would agree… hopefully.
