The Pregnant Mommy Survive on Unlimited Supplies

Chapter 9: 009 The round of Candy Crush isn't over yet

Hua Mi sat on a case of mineral water, her eyes never leaving her Candy Crush game as she kicked out without looking.

She wore a pair of sneakers which were convenient for driving and walking.

Her kick landed on the hand of a man in a leather jacket, pinning his fingers against the metal threshold of the truck bed.

"Ah!!!!"

A scream erupted from the man in the leather jacket.

It was particularly piercing in the early morning.

Hua Mi's eyes were fixed on the screen of her phone, her fingers moving rapidly.

She hadn't finished her game of Candy Crush yet.

The security guard heard the commotion and hurried out with his stun baton.

In the truck bed, Hua Mi's ears twitched at the sound of the security guard's footsteps and finally lifted her foot off the leather jacket man's fingers.

"You fucking bitch!"

The man in the leather jacket retrieved his hand, not even pausing to look at his fingers before angrily charging at the truck bed.

Just as the security guard arrived and saw the scene: a burly man with a ferocious face lunging at their water factory's esteemed female client.

Such a thing couldn't be tolerated—it was as if they were not even treating the security guard as a cop!

The guard could restrain himself no more and struck the man on the back with his electric baton,

"Get down! Do you think this is a place to think with your lower half? You disgrace of a man!"

Back in the day, this guard also had some training!

The man who was hit by the stun baton clutched his head and started fighting with the guard.

Apparently, the once trained security guard... wasn't so effective after all.

Hua Mi finally put down her Candy Crush, jumped down from the truck bed, and pulled out an iron rod from beside her.

She had picked it up randomly; it seemed to be scrap rebar.

As she stared at the man in the leather jacket, the robust man who had first come to buy water drove back.

Without hesitation, hearing the guard incessantly yelling "You fucking thug," he jumped out of his vehicle, ran to Hua Mi, and asked,

"Miss, what's going on here? Is this guy bothering you?"

Hua Mi didn't hesitate to nod, and the muscular man turned around, swung his fist, and joined the guard in beating up the leather jacket man.

Seeing this, the man in the leather jacket, chased by the guard and the kind-hearted robust man, jumped into his vehicle and fled.

Hua Mi casually threw the iron rod she had picked up back into storage.

She then saw the indignant guard pull out his phone to call the police while standing by Hua Mi's side to reassure her,

"Miss, don't be scared. The police will be here soon, and they will definitely catch that thug for you."

The other good-hearted robust man who had come back, rolling up his sleeves, said angrily:

"I'm glad I came back to buy more water. That guy's a beast in human clothing, absolutely vile."

In fact, Hua Mi, who wasn't scared at all, sincerely nodded and deeply appreciated the gallant support from the security guard and the robust kind-hearted man.

She truly hoped that such people, in an apocalyptic survival scenario, would remain as upright and kind-hearted as they were today.

She then turned to the kind-hearted robust man,

"You just took away 1000 bottles of water, why do you need more?"

Huo Jing looked embarrassed,

"Heh, I just drove back, and my wife complained in the family group chat that I bought so much water. Little did I know, every relative in our family group started asking me to share some of our water with them, so you tell me if that's enough."

"Definitely not enough."

Hua Mi shook her head. If the earthquakes kept coming incessantly, how could 1,000 bottles of water be enough?

Moreover, she saw that this robust and kind-hearted man seemed to have a particularly good heart, as he had even given his own water to relatives and then ran back here to buy more.

Hua Mi couldn't help but look at Huo Jing worriedly. After thinking it over, she still left him the supermarket address,

"My water supply here is still sufficient for now. If you run out of water, you can come to this place to find me."

"Isn't there a phone number or something?"

Huo Jing scratched his head; it would be more convenient for him if Hua Mi could leave a phone number.

Hua Mi chuckled,

"You better remember the address."

Because she was unsure, given the ongoing earthquakes, when the signal towers might collapse and phones would lose signal.

Thus, everyone needed to start getting used to life without mobile phones.

Huo Jing thought Hua Mi didn't want to have any deeper contact with him, not even willing to add him on WeChat. He didn't take it to heart, though, since it was not wrong for a young girl to be more cautious.

So, he bought all 3,000 bottles of mineral water from Hua Mi in one go.

Thinking of so much water, he felt confident that even with many family members arriving, they should be able to last until water prices stabilized.

After Huo Jing left with the water, Hua Mi waited with the security guard for the police to arrive.

But the police didn't show up the entire morning.

Even after thirty thousand newly produced bottles of mineral water had been loaded onto trucks, there was still no sign of the police.

The security guard made several phone calls to inquire about the reason, then frowned and looked at Hua Mi,

"Beauty, there has been another earthquake. The police are all pulled in to maintain order, and might not be able to come here today."

Three more residential areas had collapsed in Xiang City.

The entire rescue team of Xiang City was overwhelmingly busy. The local rescue team wasn't enough, and they had even begun to recruit civilian survivors, everyone straining their utmost to dig people out from the collapsed ruins.

Both the military garrison outside the city and the local police were dispatched to help rescue people. Hua Mi's minor case of attempted theft was being ignored.

It was chaotic, increasingly visibly chaotic.

Hua Mi emotionlessly said to the security guard,

"I see that this water plant is located in the newer part of Xiang City and is somewhat isolated. You should bring your family here to stay during this time; it's closer to the water plant."

After she finished speaking, she received a call from Gong Yi.

Gong Yi had been performing rescues in the suburbs and hadn't yet finished rescuing survivors from a privately built house when he suddenly felt the ground shake violently.

He immediately knew another quake had started, so he called Hua Mi right away.

As soon as the call connected, Gong Yi's first words were,

"How much mineral water do you still have? The rescue teams need all of it."

In all of Xiang City, only Hua Mi had mineral water bottles. Therefore, the Factory Director could only prioritize selling the mineral water to Hua Mi.

Gong Yi didn't know where Hua Mi was getting such a supply of water bottles, but he had a strong sense of crisis, feeling that this disaster wouldn't calm down anytime soon.

So, without notifying his superiors, Gong Yi directly called Hua Mi to buy all the water she had.

"Mmm—quite a lot."

Hua Mi looked back at the water plant behind her. Currently, her truck was loaded with 30,000 bottles of mineral water, but she had previously ordered 100,000 bottles.

"Alright, send it to the relief center. I'll send someone to coordinate with you."

This time, Gong Yi didn't waste words with Hua Mi. He hung up after finishing the matter at hand.

He was too busy, really having no leisure to entertain any notions of romance with Hua Mi.

When human lives were at stake, his head was on the verge of exploding, and anyone with a sense of responsibility had no time for love or affection.
