Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Two brothers fought for one girl

Rosette Young POV'

....

I got ready for school the next day, my face devoid of any emotions as I set off. The crisp morning air filled my lungs as I walked to school something I desperately needed to clear my mind, the scent of freshly cut grass wafting through the air. This would mark the first time I was going to school after being arrested. At first, I was trembling with fear about what people would think of me, but later the thoughts of getting good grades fueled me with the confidence I needed. The sound of my shoes clicking on the pavement was a steady beat that accompanied my thoughts.

Arriving at school, the lobby was completely silent when I walked in. The once mocking and taunting students were too scared to look me in the eyes, cowering away from me. The fluorescent lights overhead cast an eerie glow, making the atmosphere feel even more tense. I was suspicious at first, but after that humiliating incident, I didn't think twice about it. I picked up my book from my locker and was ready to head to class when I heard some girls murmuring about me in some small corner of a classroom.

"Did you hear .." the first girl said softly, her voice barely audible over the sound of rustling papers. "The Yves brother fought at the bar."

"Yes, I heard it. It is all over social media, apparently they fought about some girl, I didn't know who." The girls' voices were hushed, but the malice in their tone was palpable.

"Well, you are in luck, my cousin told me that girl went by the name Rosette, the pauper the triple eight preferred bullying. She was asked to strip and dance and that shameless bitch actually did it. I don't see what is so great about her that Caleb likes." The girl's words were like venom, each syllable dripping with disdain.

"Really, she is just an ugly duckling with low status and nerd brains."

"She stinks, just looking at her makes my eyes feel like burning."

"And the fact that she was caught the Yves brother's attention after that night, proves she is more than a shameless slut." The words cut deep, but my expression remained neutral, my eyes fixed on some point ahead.

"Rumors says she got arrested months ago, and she was recently released."

"I knew she was just a bad nut among us elite students."

"Just talking about her gives me goosebumps." The girls' voices trailed off as I walked away, the sound of my footsteps echoing through the hallway.

I didn't care about the other information, what piqued my interest was the fact that Caleb and Taylor fought. I didn't know if I should feel frightened or rejoice over Taylor's misery. Of course, I would approach Caleb to thank him, and at night rejoice over Taylor's downfall. But first, I had one thing to do and that was go for my classes.

The first lesson I had was astronomy, which went well until the teacher started pairing students for a homework assignment. At first, everyone was reluctant to have me as a group mate until a boy raised his hands.

Everyone gasped when they saw who it was.

When I saw the familiar face, my heart sank. I would have preferred being alone rather than having Josef as a partner.

"Are you sure Josef, do you want to join that bitch's team."

"Yes, she is so ugly she doesn't deserve you."

"Exactly."

"Do I look like your son to advice me about what is good and not good for me." Josef reprimanded the students, before he approached me with a half smile. I couldn't tell what he was thinking when he offered to be my partner, but one thing was certain he wasn't true about it

"I want to see what nerd got." He whispered in my ears, before going back to his seat. I eyes rolled back with disgust, the sound of his breath against my ear made my skin crawl.
