Chapter 26: The Buzzing Fly
Chapter 26
Lisa informed Alex, "If we keep going in this direction, we should reach Slave Town soon."
Alex nodded, his thoughts wandering.
He glanced back at Kevin, who was jogging behind him while wearing the weighted vest.
Ahead of him was Stella, riding Luna, the Dire Wolf.
Watching them, Alex turned to Lisa and began speaking.
"You know, I'm curious. Why do you need the Demon Lord's seed anyway?" he asked.
Lisa looked at Alex for a moment before replying, "It's personal."
Alex shrugged, accepting her answer. But then Lisa said, "Can I tell you a story?"
Alex, somewhat confused, replied, "Okay."
Lisa smiled and began.
"Once, there was a cat who liked to know everything. It asked questions, seeking out secrets it shouldn't have known. One day, it met an elf with green hair, who was breathtakingly beautiful."
Alex chuckled softly as Lisa continued. "The cat was stunned by her beauty and decided to follow her.
This cat discovered that the elf carried a peculiar apple in her bag—one that emitted an evil power.
The cat wondered, Why does she have the Blood Fruit? It was red, sparkling like a diamond, a fruit both powerful and ominous.
Curious, the cat wanted to know what she intended to do with it."
It followed her to the ends of the earth, observing her every move.
Finally, it saw what she was about to do and was both shocked and terrified.
As it tried to leave, the woman said, 'Where would you go when the show is about to start?'
"Before it knew what was happening, the cat found itself bound, its blood drained away completely. It died, watching the elf transform into the greatest progenitor the world had ever seen."
Lisa finished her story and asked, "What do you think?"
Alex, wearing a thoughtful expression, responded, "Hmm… You know, I'm now more curious about the cat."
Lisa chuckled. "What about it?"
"I'd like to know what secrets it discovered," Alex joked, then added, "But I also understand why it went crazy trying to find out."
"Why do you think it did?" Lisa asked.
"Beautiful things drive anyone crazy," Alex said, staring into her eyes.
Lisa blushed slightly and turned away, smiling. "And it also teaches us not to pry into others' lives."
"Curiosity killed the cat," Alex quipped. "But I'm an emperor."
Lisa laughed. "If you want to die, so be it. Just don't piss off the wrong person."
"Well, it's my job to piss off people I don't know," Alex said with a smirk.
"What do you mean?" Lisa asked.
"Look at how handsome I am. Any guy who looks at me would feel annoyed," Alex replied confidently.
His looks had indeed become even more striking in the past few days, something Lisa couldn't help but notice.
She blushed a bit more, trying to suppress thoughts she shouldn't entertain.
Changing the topic, Lisa asked, "Anyway, what do you think of slavery?"
Alex, noticing the redness in her face, chuckled before answering, "What about it?"
"How do you feel about it?" Lisa clarified.
"I don't like it, but I'm also not going to fight against it—at least not now," Alex replied.
Pausing, he added, "Maybe when I'm stronger, I'll try to change it."
Lisa fell silent for a moment before speaking.
"I genuinely hate it. Even being in a place like that makes me sick. Weak or not, I'll fight to abolish it and destroy anyone who supports it."
Alex smiled and gently took Lisa's hand, catching her off guard.
Raising her hand slightly, he said, "Life isn't black and white. And remember, the strong make the rules. Don't go making enemies you might regret, okay?"
"Yeah…" Lisa murmured as Alex began channeling his Arcane mana into her meridians.
Lisa felt an immense and pure energy flow through her, causing her mana reserves to grow as they absorbed it.
"But if that's your wish, let me help you," Alex said with a warm smile.
"Thanks," Lisa replied.
"No problem," Alex said, releasing her hand after transferring about 20,000 units of his Arcane mana.
He would have liked to give her more, but too much could have overwhelmed her.
Looking at Alex, Lisa teased, "You care about me, don't you?"
Alex smiled. "Why wouldn't I?" Lisa blushed again as Alex added,
"It's hard not to when the buzzing fly keeps making noise near your ear. At first, it's annoying, but then you realize that life without that annoying thing feels boring."
"Fuck you," Lisa said, storming off toward Stella and Luna. Alex just chuckled.
Lisa climbed onto Luna, closing her eyes to absorb the Arcane mana Alex had given her.
Alex turned his attention to Kevin, who was breathing heavily and looked ready to collapse. "Hey, Kevin! Are you really that weak?"
"NOOO!" Kevin shouted.
"Then why do you look like it? Run over here!" Alex ordered.
"Okay!" Kevin picked up his pace, but it was barely an improvement.
