Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Is the Big Boss Just Her Underling?
Gideon Smith looked up impatiently and glanced at Henry Doyle, "Why are you so talkative? Is my business something you can inquire about?"
Director Smith is right, it was my fault for being talkative, my fault indeed," Henry Doyle chuckled dryly and quickly shut his mouth.
Once again, the atmosphere in the office became tense.
It was only then that Gideon Smith looked up and surveyed the seated figures in the office, "All the shareholders of Doyle Corporation are here?"
"Yes, yes, everyone is here. Whatever you need, just say the word. I will do everything within my power to help!" Though he said these words, Henry Doyle didn't believe his third-rate group could be of any help to Director Smith.
Having spoken quickly, Henry Doyle's back was already sweating. He chuckled awkwardly and changed the subject, "Director Smith, perhaps you're thirsty? Let me pour you some tea!"
The tea leaves had been purchased at a high price from an auction house earlier in the afternoon, in a hurried effort after learning of Gideon Smith's visit. A figure of his stature was not easily approached by a small company's boss like himself.
Today, if he managed to serve Director Smith well, perhaps his fortunes would soar sky-high.
Henry Doyle carefully poured out the Da Hong Pao tea, worth tens of thousands, for Director Smith, "Please have a taste, Director Smith. If you like it, I'll immediately have some sent to your residence!"
Seeing how eagerly Henry Doyle was trying to brown-nose, Gideon Smith's expression softened a bit. He reluctantly took the teacup and was about to have a sip.
Bringing it to his nose,
The scent of the inferior tea made Gideon Smith's brow furrow, and he coldly set the cup back down.
Had he not been unclear about what the boss really had in mind, Gideon Smith would have already lost his temper with Henry Doyle.
Seeing that Gideon Smith was unwilling to grace him with drinking his tea,
Henry Doyle wore an embarrassed expression and immediately had someone replace it with mineral water, which was brought directly to Director Smith.
Then,
Henry Doyle's assistant received a message and promptly whispered to him, "President Doyle, they say outside that Miss Ellie Doyle has returned and is currently at the door."
"Ellie Doyle?" Henry Doyle's brows furrowed, and his expression immediately darkened, "Have someone drive her away immediately. Don't let her disturb my honored guest!"
"Yes!"
The assistant had just been about to go and relay the order.
Immediately after,
Chaotic sounds started coming from the hallway.
"You can't go in. President Doyle is discussing business with a valued guest. You can't go in!"
"Security! Call security!"
The raucous voices quickly penetrated into the office.
Henry Doyle's face grew even darker, and he turned to Gideon Smith with a stiff smile, "My apologies, Director Smith. I'll go and take care of this personally, and I'll return promptly!"
He turned and addressed his subordinate, "Vice-President, take good care of Director Smith."
The Vice-President responded, "Understood, President Doyle, you can count on me!"
Henry Doyle nodded and strode towards the conference room door.
At this, even Gideon Smith became a little restless. He frowned and stood up, "Wait, I'll come with you."
He thought he might have heard the boss's voice just now.
Though it wasn't clear,
Gideon Smith felt that the boss had probably arrived.
Seeing Gideon Smith stand up, Henry Doyle looked a bit uncomfortable, "Director Smith, this, this might not be appropriate?"
After all, one shouldn't air dirty laundry in public.
Henry Doyle wasn't eager to look like a villain in front of Gideon Smith.
Gideon Smith didn't pay him any attention and was already striding towards the exit of the conference room.
Seeing this,
Henry Doyle could only follow awkwardly.
As soon as they left the conference room,
Inside the room,
The other few shareholders immediately became agitated.
"Director Smith actually came to our company. What do you think brings him here today?"
"Yes, with Director Smith's status, even the slightest favor could double the profits for our company. But, I have a feeling that his visit doesn't bode well."
"Trouble comes knocking? Haha, how could that be possible? If Director Smith wanted trouble, he could wipe out our entire corporation with just a flick of his finger, no need for him to show up in person."
"That's true..."
"Enough, let's not talk about this anymore." The deputy general manager took a deep breath, his expression similarly complex, and stood up, "Come on, let's go meet with Henry!"
In the corridor.
Gideon Smith hurried out of the meeting room, and upon seeing Ellie Doyle, his expression immediately turned excited.
Just as he was about to approach and identify himself as her supporter, Ellie gave him a light shake of her head.
Gideon felt a bit frustrated.
But whatever the boss did, there must be a reason behind it.
So, Gideon obediently pretended not to know Ellie and stopped.
At this moment.
Henry had also seen Ellie.
With so many people around at the time, Henry couldn't say anything too harsh, but he just glared coldly at Ellie, "We've already severed our father-daughter relationship, what are you doing here?"
"Just in time, all the shareholders have arrived, right?" Ellie's gaze swept indifferently across the group following Henry and she spoke lightly, "The documents for the transfer of the company have been prepared by my lawyer, and as of today, the responsibilities of the Doyle Clan rest formally in my hands. If there are no objections, from now on, you may begin calling me Director Doyle."
Henry: "?"
The group of shareholders behind Henry: "?"
Seeing everyone silent, Ellie pursed her lips, "Since there are no objections, then let's start the meeting."
Then, in front of everyone's eyes, Ellie walked straight towards the meeting room.
A smirk spread across Gideon's face as he quickly followed Ellie's steps.
Seeing the others still in shock, Gideon didn't forget to turn his head and glance at them, "What are you standing around for? Let's go."
Everyone: "???"
They couldn't shake the feeling.
Was this high-ranking Director Smith acting like Ellie's little follower?
But soon, everyone pushed aside this unrealistic thought and turned their heads in unison to look at Henry.
Feeling everyone's gaze.
Henry's face turned an alternating shade of pale and flushed.
He followed Ellie into the meeting room without a word, his face cold.
He really wanted to see what she was up to!
In the meeting room.
Ellie had naturally taken the main seat.
Not long ago.
This seat was where Gideon sat.
Seeing that his boss had taken his place, Gideon happily sat down next to Ellie.
Henry had already entered the office, his face cold as he stared at Ellie's position, "This is Director Smith's seat; he is a valued guest of our company. You're being far too disrespectful. Stand up right now and give the seat back to Director Smith."
Gideon's face instantly turned white.
This Henry, how dare he talk to his boss in that tone? Did he have a death wish?
Immediately, Gideon gestured to Ellie, "No need, no need, you just sit!"
Ellie didn't move, she had no intention of yielding her seat.
She looked up at Henry and the other shareholders behind him, "Didn't I say we have a meeting? Come in and take a seat."
Gideon chimed in instantly, "Didn't you hear her? Come in and sit down!"
Everyone exchanged glances, none daring to go against Gideon's wish, and hurriedly walked into the meeting room.
Henry still stood at the door. Seeing that everyone was seated, he fixated his gaze on Ellie, his voice finally sounding impatient, "Whatever it is, wait until I've finished the meeting to discuss it. You leave now, this isn't the place for you."
"Henry, do you think I'm joking with you?" A hint of sarcasm finally surfaced on Ellie's calm face, but it was so faint it could almost be ignored. She stared at Henry, then placed a contract on the table, "This is the agreement for the transfer of company control. Sign it."
"I don't want this to get ugly. It's still a good time for a graceful exit."
After Ellie's words fell.
Gideon eagerly added, "Exactly, Henry, you're not getting any younger. Look at how long you've been the boss; it's just a third-rate company, isn't it? Why cling to this measly position? Better step down now."
