Chapter 38: Chapter 38: The Powerhouses on Roger’s Ship

"Oden!"

"Oden, sir!"

"Lord Oden!"

The moment Kozuki Oden was sent flying by Garp's devastating punch, Roger couldn't help but turn his head toward the spot where Oden had disappeared, murmuring in worry. His crewmates all gasped in shock. Rayleigh, without hesitation, leapt off the Oro Jackson and raced toward where Oden had fallen.

Meanwhile, the other members of the Oro Jackson, seeing the sheer might of Garp, couldn't help but feel anxious for Roger. One by one, they disembarked from the ship, gathering behind their captain.

"Captain Roger!"

"What about Oden?"

Shanks and the others ran to Roger's side. Shanks called out softly, worry in his voice, but before he could finish, Roger placed a reassuring hand on top of Shanks' head and said:

"Don't worry, Shanks."

"That guy's as tough as they come. He'll be fine. Didn't Rayleigh already go after him?"

Thanks to Roger's Observation Haki, it was easy for him to sense Oden's exact location. By now, Rayleigh had already dived into the sea to retrieve Oden.

At the same time, Roger sensed that Oden was still alive. He hadn't died from Garp's punch, but the force of the blow had left him unable to move. He'd fallen into the ocean and passed out after swallowing water. Of course, if they didn't pull him out quickly, he really would drown.

"That idiot… going off and attacking without my orders."

"He's only in this mess because he brought it on himself."

Roger chuckled as he spoke to the crew behind him, as though completely unconcerned about Oden's fate.

He knew well how powerful Oden's Haki and durability were. The first time Roger had met Oden, Oden had taken a direct hit from his Divine Departure and still bounced back, full of vigor. Garp's strength was on par with Roger's own. There was no way Oden would die from this.

Still, as soon as Roger finished speaking, he turned his gaze back toward Garp.

"Garp… you laid hands on one of my crewmates. Are you prepared for the consequences?"

Roger's tone had turned serious now, shedding the casual air of a reunion between old friends. Yet despite the gravity in his voice, there was still a faint smile on his lips.

"Roger, what the hell are you talking about?!"

"Why do you think I came looking for you? For a chat?!"

Garp barked out his retort, then casually tossed the two swords he'd taken from Oden back toward his dog-headed warship. After that, he reached up and tugged at his suit tie, loosening it. He then unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt and gave Roger a fierce grin.

His meaning was crystal clear.

Before Roger could react, Garp bent his knees slightly, eyes locked onto his opponent. He suddenly pushed off from the ice with explosive force, rocketing forward. In the blink of an eye, he was right in front of Roger, fist barreling toward Roger's chest.

"Clang!"

Roger reacted with lightning speed, raising his sword to block. Even so, the tremendous force of Garp's punch sent him flying backward. As Roger was still airborne, Garp landed, only to launch himself forward once again. His figure blurred and disappeared, catching up with Roger midair. Another devastating punch came crashing down toward Roger's head.

"Clang!"

Roger barely managed to raise his sword again to block, but the massive power behind Garp's blow smashed him straight down into the ice below. Cracks spiderwebbed across the frozen surface as Roger was driven into the ocean.

Garp's speed was utterly terrifying. To the rest of the Roger Pirates watching from afar, it all seemed like a blur of movement. One moment, a flash of light; the next, both Roger and Garp had vanished from sight.

"Boom!"

Moments later, Roger's figure erupted out of the ocean, laughing wildly as he slashed twice at Garp with his sword. Garp blocked both strikes, after which Roger quickly closed the distance between them, engaging Garp in close combat.

From several dozen meters away, the crew could only see two dark figures flickering rapidly across the ice. Violent shockwaves of Haki poured out from the clash, so intense that even from a distance, the crew could feel the sheer power of Roger and Garp's battle.

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

Thunderous booms echoed without pause. Above the spot where Garp and Roger were exchanging blows, the white clouds had long since been torn apart by the raging Haki. The ice beneath them splintered and cracked under the relentless impact of their attacks.

But neither Garp nor Roger paid any mind. Their battle continued unabated, sending waves crashing across the ocean.

"Well, well, that's quite the ruckus you're making."

While the Roger Pirates were fixated on the distant fight, a rather nonchalant voice suddenly sounded near them.

A tall, lean man materialized from the icy surface itself.

Dressed in a pristine white suit, hands tucked into his pockets, Aokiji suddenly appeared behind the members of the Roger Pirates, frost curling from his breath as he spoke.

"Huh?!"

Shanks and the others let out startled gasps and simultaneously turned to look.

"Ice Time!"

In the instant the crew turned around, Aokiji spoke softly. He lifted his hands, and two pillars of ice shot forth, launching directly toward the Roger Pirates' crew.

Ellio and Yamon, two of the crew's fighters, couldn't dodge in time. Aokiji's Devil Fruit power enveloped them, instantly freezing them into statues of ice. Both men carried bounties exceeding 100 million berries each. By any measure, they were notorious pirates across all four seas. Yet in the blink of an eye, they'd been incapacitated by Aokiji.

"Ellio!"

"Yamon!"

Buggy let out a horrified cry as he saw his two veteran crewmates lose their ability to fight in a single instant.

And at that very moment, Aokiji used Soru to flash step right up to Buggy. Staring up at the towering figure of Aokiji, Buggy swiftly drew a short dagger from his waist and slashed at the Marine.

Despite being only twelve years old, Buggy showed not the slightest trace of fear facing a monster like Aokiji. Instead, he lunged in, determined to strike back and avenge his friends.

"Oy oy~"

Aokiji couldn't help murmuring softly, surprised that Buggy wasn't surrendering but instead counterattacking. A chilling surge of frost began to spill from Aokiji's body, ready to freeze Buggy where he stood. But just as he was about to unleash his power, his Observation Haki suddenly sensed a presence hurtling toward him at incredible speed.

"Oraaaaaa!"

A massive, heavily muscled figure nearly four meters tall appeared beside Aokiji in a blur of motion. His fist, cloaked in Haki, smashed toward Aokiji's face with tremendous force.

Douglas Bullet.

At just seventeen years old, he was known as the "Heir of the Devil."

Though still young, Douglas Bullet had already awakened Conqueror's Haki. Moreover, he was a user of the Paramecia-type Clank-Clank Fruit, which granted him the power to fuse his body with inorganic materials, reshaping his form and enabling him to merge objects together to create weapons.

His strength was so formidable that he could fight the vice-captain, Rayleigh, on equal terms.

The moment Bullet's attack came barreling in, Aokiji's body instantly transformed into a cloud of icy mist. Before Bullet's fist could land, Aokiji completed his elemental transformation and vanished from sight.

Bullet's punch struck nothing but air. His eyes narrowed, his expression flashing with a trace of surprise.

Then, the icy mist swirling in the air suddenly coalesced around Bullet. In the next second, Aokiji's figure solidified behind him. He placed a hand lightly on Bullet's broad shoulder and murmured, "Ice Ball."

Instantly, Bullet was encased in a sphere of solid ice. Through the transparent block, Shanks and the others could still see Bullet's face, frozen in a look of faint astonishment.

Frozen solid the man who could fight Rayleigh to a standstill, Douglas Bullet, had been subdued in a single move by Aokiji.

The terrifying power of a Logia Devil Fruit user cast a shadow over the hearts of the remaining Roger Pirates.

"So… who's next?"

Aokiji's cold gaze swept over the remaining members of the Roger Pirates as he prepared to make his next move. But just then, he noticed something strange: the icy sphere around Bullet suddenly began to crack.

Despite having been frozen solid moments ago, Bullet was somehow breaking free from Aokiji's ice.

"!"

Bullet's Haki-coated hand shot toward Aokiji's face with blinding speed. That he could escape so quickly clearly caught Aokiji by surprise. In that fleeting instant, Aokiji didn't even have time to react or dodge.

But just as Bullet was about to seize Aokiji with his Haki-infused grip, a blaze of crimson flames erupted beside Bullet.

Within the flames flashed a fiery red blade, swinging with lethal precision toward Bullet's neck.

Hinokami Kagura Second Form Rising Scorching Sun!

Flame-clad blade, Haki, and the art of the Sun Breathing style.

At that instant, the red-haired youth who appeared beside Bullet held nothing back. He unleashed the strongest slash he was currently capable of performing.

His intent was simple: to sever Bullet's head in a single, decisive blow.

"At last… you've arrived, Yoriichi!"
