SWNOVELXO Chapter : Chapter 4
When she finished washing the dishes, Shirley heard someone outside, so she looked out the window and saw someone leaving in a black car. Shirley got in her car and drove after the guy in the van. Shirley followed the guy across town, and he spotted her following him through his side window. The guy tried to lose Shirley, so he drove around the corner, and Shirley followed him. Once Shirley turned the corner, she lost the guy, but then her car got hit, and she felt a bump. Shirley then looked behind her and saw the masked person chasing her. Shirley then drove off the road, and the masked person laughed evilly. Shirley then drove off the road and started to speed out of control, and Shirley started to get worried. Once Shirley got back on the road, she regained control of her car, and the masked person chased after her. Shirley drove to the right and tried to lose the masked guy in a traffic jam. Once the masked guy got to the traffic jam, he saw many cars but couldn't find Shirley. The masked guy drove away, and Shirley quietly followed without the masked person noticing her.
The masked guy drove into a cave, and Shirley followed. Once Shirley got inside, she lost the masked guy. Shirley said, "Where'd he go?" Shirley opened her car door, got out, and looked around. Shirley then stepped on a switch, and it opened a secret door in the wall. Shirley said, "Showtime." Shirley hurried into the secret room and hid behind a wall. Shirley peered out from behind the wall and saw the masked guy. The masked guy started to take off his mask, but the power went out before Shirley saw who he was. Once the power came back on, the masked person was gone. Shirley snapped her fingers and said, "Rats. I was so close to seeing who's behind this." Shirley then looked around and found a few things on a table. Shirley found a few pictures and looked at them. She saw one photo of Mr. Paws, another picture of herself, and another of a diamond. Shirley thought about it and said, "I wonder."
Shirley kept the picture of the diamond and put it in her pocket. She then found a videotape on the table and put that in her backpack to save for later. After getting her clues, Shirley saw a staircase and walked up because she figured the culprit might have gone when the power went out. Once Shirley reached the top, she saw she was at a dead end. Shirley knocked on the wall, and a secret door opened. Shirley said, "A secret door." Shirley walked out of the hidden room and saw she was in somebody's house's library. The bookshelf she walked out of then shut, and Shirley noticed it shut. Shirley then left the library and saw that she was in someone's living room. Shirley looked around and saw that the place looked deserted. Shirley said, "I wonder who lives here or rather lived here."
The person who tried to waste Shirley saw Shirley looking around his house. Then he jumped ahead of her and scared her. Shirley screamed when she saw the masked guy, and he kicked her. The guy then tried to drop a bookshelf on Shirley, but she jumped out of the way, and then Shirley threw a chair at the guy, knocking him to the floor. While he was out, Shirley looked at him and tried to figure out who he was. Shirley said, "Hmmm." The guy then got up and threw a book at Shirley, but she moved out of the way, and he missed. Then Shirley tried running, but she couldn't move her leg because the masked guy had her ankle. Shirley said, "Persistent little creep. Aren't you?"
Shirley shook the guy off until he let go and jumped into the kitchen. Shirley ran into the kitchen after him, and the masked guy threw a frying pan at her, but she hit the deck, and he missed. Shirley then tossed the frying pan the guy threw at her up, and it hit a pot, and the pot landed on the guy's head. Shirley then whacked the pot with the frying pan, and the guy started to hear the noise inside and then fainted. While the guy was out, Shirley hurried back downstairs, and the guy followed her down there. Shirley left through the cave, got in her car, and drove back home. The masked guy then got in his car and drove after her. Shirley looked behind her and saw the masked guy chasing her. Shirley said, "Oh no. Here we go again. Maybe I can outrun him." Shirley hit the gas and drove faster, but the masked guy did. The masked guy shot a rocket at Shirley, but Shirley dodged it, and the missile blew up part of the road. Shirley drove around the hole, and so did the masked guy. The masked guy chased Shirley back to her house, and when she got there, she slammed the door shut and thought she was safe when she locked it. The masked guy left in his car and devised a way to get Shirley to leave him alone.
The next day, Shirley woke up and saw that the place was trashed and her parents were missing. Shirley said, "Mom? Dad?" Shirley saw a note on the front door, grabbed it, and read it. Shirley said, "I know you're onto me. Back off the case, or you'll never see your parents again." Shirley checked her parents' room and saw it had a broken window and was trashed, just like their house. Shirley said, "Now it's personal. Whoever has done this is going to pay big time."
Shirley felt the videotape she found in the hidden room might be helpful, so she put it in the VCR and pushed play. The tape showed Shirley a video of Mr. Knab Relgrub leaving the bank with a sneaky look on his face. It also showed a video of Elizabeth leaving the bank and locking the doors. Then the police came and arrested her since they witnessed her leaving the bank just as Jennifer said, "Hmmm. I would go to the bank, but it's out of business. But Officer Buck Test or Mr. Relgrub might give me some answers.
