The Lost heir of somewhere unknown

Chapter 49: Chapter 49 Picture of Health

It was now 11:30 p.m. Liah had just taken two bottles of coconut water from the fridge and was about to head to Michael's room when the sound of the back door opening stopped her in her tracks. In a swift movement, she grabbed a long knife from the counter as footsteps approached her.

A few seconds later Anthony came into view, when he saw her he rolled his eyes and snorted. "Why the hell are you always creeping around here in the middle of the night with weapons you've no idea how to use?" He asks grabbing the knife from her. "And why are you always creeping in here in the middle of the night?" She snaps back at him. "Michael wanted to talk to the doctor, so I had to choose a time best to travel." He said calling the doctor in. The doctor enters the room with one of Razor's men behind him.

She might not know how to use a knife, but I do. Michael thought, sheathing his knife and moving away from the door. "Where is he?" Anthony asked, and Liah pointed to his room. The three men then headed towards the door. Anthony, being the first to reach it, pushed it open.

"Hey, you wanted the Doctor, well here he is," Anthony said, stepping aside so the doctor could pass. Michael, who was now sitting on the edge of his bed, got up and slowly nodded to the doctor. "Thank you for coming, " he said, gesturing towards a chair for the doctor to sit in. "Hi Jermaine, what brings you here?" He asked.

"Well, you're in quarantine, so I thought I would bring you a little something to pass your time," Jermaine says patting the box in his hands. A smile creases the corner of Michael's mouth as his eyes travel to the door where Liah is standing. With this dark beauty, passing the time wasn't an issue. He thought biting his lips.

"I'll just set it up over here," Jermaine said walking towards a television that Michael realized he hadn't turned on since he had been here. "It's good to see that you've recovered from your bullet wound," Michael said turning towards the doctor. "Ah yes, wasn't my time I guess but what amazes me is how fast you've recovered from your multiple wounds, considering the state you were in when you first arrived here." The doctor says his eyes roaming over Michael.

"You're the picture of health but I'm still going to examine you, just to be sure." The doctor says taking out his equipment. "How's your head?" The doctor asks pressing the spot on Michael's head where they had to shave and cut to relieve the swelling in his brain.

"On a scale of one to ten, how much does it still hurt?" he asks. "Four," Michael replied. "Hmm, wonderful, your hair has also grown back nicely by the way." The doctor adds. "So, I heard you wanted to know about the drug which was found in your system?" The doctor says while taking his vitals.

"Yes, could the drug be what's blocking my memories?" Michael asks. "Well, if that's the only thing it's doing, then you should be grateful." The doctor replied. "Why is that?" "Well, because that drug has an 80% fatality rate, meaning, you should be dead right now. Twice dead, considering the beating you receive after someone injects you with that thing." The doctor says.

"80% fatality rate?" Michael repeated more to himself than to who was in the room. "Yes, and along with the added beating, I still can't find a logical medical explanation as to how you are actually walking around right now much less doing all the things I've heard that you did, including single-handedly taking out the other side, thank you for that by the way." The doctor says and Michael nods.

"Can I draw some blood? I want to see if there's any trace of that drug still in your system." "Proceed," Michael says taking a deep calming breath.

Liah bites her lips as she watches and listens to what is happening in the room. Earlier in the day, she and Zoey had occupied his time teaching him how to play Dominoes and cards, and even though he lost a few times, he quickly caught on and began winning every game, he was indeed a fast learner.

But on the other hand, there was something else bothering her. The fact that he told Jody she was a beautiful woman was really grinding on her nerves. Why exactly did he say that to her? Did it mean that it wasn't that special when he said it to me? Did he think all women were beautiful and did he go around telling them that? Was she special to him at all? She needs to know how he really felt about her and she was planning on asking him as soon as these men leave.

"You young man is in perfect health." The doctor says concluding his examination. "Not even as much as an elevated blood pressure." The doctor chuckles packing away his equipment. "I'll let you know the result as soon as I'm finished running the tests on your blood." "Thank you." Michael nods.

"Hey, if you're finished over there, could you join me over here," Jermaine asks and Michael walk towards him. "Okay, now this is an X-Box, are you familiar with it?" "Not sure." Michael replied his eyes scanning the device. "Alright, let me give you a test run." Jermaine says starting up the device.

Michael wasn't sure how he felt about having this device in this room, the room where he and Liah spend most of their time together, intimately and otherwise. He had a strong feeling that Jermaine was sent over here to install either a listening device or a camera or both, using this device as a cover.

"Get it now?" Jermaine ask a few minutes later. "Got it." Michael nods. "Oh, before I forget, I also brought these shakes for you, and before you asks, the ingredients are written on the bottles." He said handing Michael a bag." "Thank you." Michael nod.

"Jermaine, are we okay?" Michael ask. "In what way?" "You have been anxious around me since that night." "Can you blame me? You sail three knives in my direction and sometimes I get the feeling that you would hurt me to get back at Razor. Am I wrong?" Jermaine ask. "No, that have cross my mind more that once but then I realize that there's something he cares for more than you."

"Which is what?" "His money, So if I want to hit him where it hurts, I'll be going after his money, not you, so you have nothing to fear from me." For a few seconds Jermaine met Michael's gaze but said nothing." "Okay, we are good then." Jermaine says hugging him.

"Oh, and as it turns out the young ladies you rescued from the other side covered for you, they told the cops that they didn't see your face, that you were wearing a ski mask and gloves and they couldn't tell if you were black or white." Jermaine laugh.

"But the men from the other side which the police actually catch, now they had a different story. They said that you were white and Razor's hitman, so needless to say the cops comb through the Boss's base with a fine tooth comb, the cops dog's pick up a little thing here and there but the cops only found a few sticks of weed and they couldn't lock us up for that so they gave up and left. "The curfew is still on and word is that the special force that operates the sting might come back so you'll have to remain here a bit longer than expected." Jermain says. "Okay." Michael nods.

"Alright, take care man." Jermaine says punching Michael's shoulder. With that the three men left.

Liah wait a few minutes after the men left before turning towards Michael's room, she was only a few feet away when Zoey came out of their room rubbing her eyes. "I heard voices, who was here so late?" She asks in a sleepy voice.

"It was Anthony, he brought a doctor to examine Moses, now go back to bed." Liah says in an annoyed tone. "What's wrong with him?" Zoey asks moving quickly towards Michael's room and pushing the door open. "Sweet Jesus." Zoey said breathlessly as her hands flew to her eyes covering them, as Michael stand next to his bed, shirtless.

"That's why you should knock first." Liah scold her. "Sorry, are you alright?" Zoey asks in concern with her eyes still covered. "I'm fine, why?" He ask. "Liah says a doctor was here." "You can remove your hands now." He said softly. "It was just a routine check up." He adds.

Oh, okay," "So you can go back to bed now." Liah suggest. "So should you." Zoey said pushing Liah from the room and closing the door behind her. Michael couldn't help smiling and shaking his head at Zoey's action.

He knew the last thing Liah wanted to do right now was leave his room but maybe it was a wise idea for her to leave. He thought narrowing his eyes at the device Jermaine had just set up.
