The Lone Dragon of China.

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Wei Shengping’s Schemes

"Why ask? Do you think you have a chance?" Wei Shengping said with some irritation.

Having already lost face, he was in a foul mood and vented his frustration on Qin Fei.

"Exactly, these kinds of credit cards are only given to those who earn at least ten million a year. How could someone like you, living off your wife, possibly have such a black card?" Xia Qing mocked with a laugh.

Qin Fei turned and glanced at him, smiling, "Actually, I do have one."

With that, he reached into his pocket.

Wei Shengping, seeing that Qin Fei didn't appear to be lying, felt a slight confusion.

"Could he really have one?" Xia Qing's eyes narrowed as he focused intently on Qin Fei.

Qin Fei searched through several pockets but couldn't find the black card. A moment of awkwardness followed.

"Tch." Xia Qing reprimanded himself inwardly: A man who lives off his wife—how could he possibly have such a card? I almost believed him; how foolish of me.

"Enough already. You don't need to put on such a front just to save face," Wei Shengping sneered.

Even the receptionist ignored Qin Fei, engrossed in her phone.

"Give me the car keys," Qin Fei said to Su Yu.

Su Yu frowned, asking, "What are you going to do?"

Qin Fei leaned close to her ear, whispering, "Old Master Li gave me a black card, the same kind the guest earlier had. I've kept it in my pocket, but now it's gone. I suspect I left it in the car."

The moment Qin Fei reminded her, Su Yu remembered the card.

It indeed seemed like the very same one the guest had earlier.

Realizing this, she hurriedly handed him the car keys.

"What are you up to?" Wei Shengping couldn't resist sneering, "Are you going to drive back yourself?"

Ignoring him, Qin Fei rushed to the car, rummaging through it for a while. Finally, he found the black card.

"I almost thought it was lost," Qin Fei kissed the card.

"Su Yu, I'm not saying you're wrong, but your husband is pathetic. Not only does he have no money, but he still wants to save face. What's he going to do when he's exposed? Isn't this embarrassing?" Xia Qing crossed his arms, jeering.

"Yeah," Wei Shengping nodded, "She was once the school's top beauty, yet she married a man like this."

Everyone has vanity, and Su Yu was no different.

Frowning, she retorted, "You're the one who brought us to Yiyuan Residence. The room hasn't been booked, and you still have the nerve to mock us?"

Wei Shengping immediately became awkward, his face flushed as he muttered, "This was an unexpected mishap, but it's alright. I can treat you all to a meal at Wanshun Restaurant."

"No need," Qin Fei said as he re-entered the room.

He handed the black card to the receptionist, smiling, "Please book us a room."

The receptionist took the card, examined it thoroughly, and then looked up at Qin Fei in disbelief, as though she couldn't quite believe it.

"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and book the room," Su Yu said, standing up for Qin Fei.

The receptionist's attitude shifted immediately, her face breaking into a professional smile.

"Of course, sir, I'll arrange that right away." She hurriedly processed the booking and returned the receipt and card to Qin Fei.

"Here's your card. Your room is 8888, and someone will escort you there."

Qin Fei took the card, smiling lightly, "Thank you."

"Let's go," he said as he tucked the card into his pocket and casually placed his arm around Su Yu.

Although Su Yu felt somewhat uncomfortable, she didn't pull away, especially in front of so many people.

"Well, well, President Qin, playing the fool to catch the tiger, huh?" Wei Shengping muttered through gritted teeth.

This gathering had been arranged by him, with only one goal in mind—Su Yu.

They say that after a man succeeds, he often remembers the woman he couldn't have, and Wei Shengping was no different.

He had discreetly inquired about Su Yu's situation and learned that she had married a useless man. Immediately, hope sparked in his heart.

But today, faced with Qin Fei, he had gained no advantage.

"This card was also a gift from someone else," Qin Fei said with a casual smile.

This only made Wei Shengping feel more irritated. He scoffed but said nothing.

Led by the receptionist, they arrived at room 8888.

The room was enormous, decorated in a style that blended with nature.

The walls were adorned with master calligraphy and paintings, while the floor was covered with exquisite cobblestones.

Passing through a quiet path, they arrived at a moderately sized stone table surrounded by green bamboo and a pond, making it feel like they were in a scenic nature reserve.

"Wow!" Several classmates couldn't help but exclaim, "This special room is just over the top!"

Qin Fei and Su Yu sat down first, followed by Wei Shengping and the others.

"Sir, may I ask what you would like to order?" A waiter approached with a tablet.

Qin Fei took the tablet, handed it to Su Yu, and smiled, "Pick what you want. Don't hesitate, since Mr. Wei is treating."

Hearing this, Wei Shengping immediately adopted a more generous tone. He cleared his throat and said, "Su Yu, feel free to order anything. Money is no object."

Su Yu glanced casually and then handed the tablet to the others.

"You all decide; I'm fine with anything."

The dishes arrived quickly, within half an hour.

As they ate, the conversation turned to casual chatter.

"I heard that a dragon corpse was found in He Village not long ago. It even made the news," Xia Qing remarked.

"Yeah, I wanted to go see it the next day, but unfortunately, they had already removed it by then," Wei Shengping said with some regret.

"If I could see a real dragon in my lifetime, it would be worth it even if I died," the others said with awe.

Wei Shengping quickly patted his chest, "I know a few people. If I pull a few strings, we might be able to get a glimpse!"

Qin Fei inwardly sneered.

This was the first appearance of a true dragon, and the country had already sealed off all information. No matter how many connections one had, it would be impossible to see it.

After dinner, Wei Shengping dutifully paid the bill.

"Since it's still early, why don't we go sing karaoke?" Wei Shengping suggested, thinking that if he could get Qin Fei drunk later, Su Yu would be easy to get.

With this thought, he smiled broadly.

"I'm not going," Su Yu shook her head.

"Don't be like that," Wei Shengping urged, "We're old classmates, and it's rare we get to meet. Don't be such a buzzkill."

"Yeah, with your husband here, what do you have to worry about?" Xia Qing added.

Seeing she couldn't get out of it, Su Yu reluctantly agreed.

Soon, they arrived at Nightshade KTV.

This KTV was one of the largest in Jiangcheng, and Wei Shengping often brought clients here, so he was familiar with the staff.

"Mr. Wei, back again to take care of business?" a front desk manager greeted with a smile.

Wei Shengping smiled back, "These are my old classmates, make sure to take good care of them."

"No problem, Mr. Wei, all your rooms are 20% off!" the manager replied enthusiastically.

Wei Shengping, feeling smug, said, "I'm here often. The owner and I are good friends. Next time, just mention my name when you come."

"Really? I heard the owner of this place is quite impressive, a major figure in Jiangcheng, both in the legitimate and underground scenes!"

"That's right. His name is Sun Huadong. He rose through sheer force of will and now dominates much of Jiangcheng's logistics," Wei Shengping boasted. "We had a meal together not long ago. If he were here, I'd definitely call him over for a drink!"

After saying this, he slyly glanced at Su Yu.

Unfortunately, there was no reaction from her, which disappointed him slightly.

"You all go ahead, I'll have a quick chat with the manager," Wei Shengping said, sensing Su Yu's lack of interest and scheming something else.

Qin Fei immediately saw through his little plan but said nothing, just offering a casual smile.

After they had gone, Wei Shengping pulled the manager aside and whispered, "Get a few people to join us for drinks, and make sure to slip this inside."

He produced a small white pill, saying it with a sinister tone.
