He groaned out for the hundredth time. He knew exactly who was by the door. He had no choice but to let her in.

" Come in," he said and the door opened. His mother walked into the room as if she owned it. She raised her chin up as she took in the surroundings "Why are you always in here son? I've told you you need a life. This isn't a life. You are only tying yourself down "

He rolled his eyes "Mom I'm not complaining and you know that there are a lot of things going on in the pack that need to be tackled. You of all people should know that by now "

She shrugged "That doesn't stop you from sending flowers to Miss Akela. She is going to be your bride soon and you don't even attempt to woo her "

He cocked brows " I thought you are already doing the wooing. Remember you gave me a bride that I didn't ask for "

She glared at him hating when he talked rudely at her "Shut up your mouth Asher. She is your soon-to-be bride and I want that to stick to your thick skull "

He scoffed hating the way she was talking rudely at him. Yes she is his mother but he is the alpha here and he deserves some respect even if that person eas his mother " I hate it when you talk to me in such many mother " 

She was as hot-headed as he was. She wasn't going to back down easily " You either accept that fact, Asher. Remember there is going to be a party today and you will be meeting Miss Akela there. Make sure you take some flowers along with you" 

He mentally rolled his eyes. How does she expect him to fall for someone he doesn't want, he thought to himself. He hates it when something like this happens. It's sad to say his future has been planned but his parents even before he was born. Asher doesn't have the right to look for his mate not that he needs one.

Akela is a beautiful lady yes he is aware of that and she is also a fashion designer, he knew that fact so well too. The fact that he didn't choose her himself is what triggers him. She is a choice made by his parents and he can't go against them cos it's a promise forever between his father and Akela's father. 

Asher stared at his mother who was glaring at him " Is that why you came ?"

She felt like spanking him right now. He is the only son of hers that gives her a tough time. He is just like his father "Please don't take this for granted. This would mean a lot for our family. She is strong and highly respected too. That is the kind of daughter-in-law I want "

He rolled his eyes " I've heard you"

" don't roll your eyes at me !" She scolded 

He dropped whatever he was doing and gave her his full attention" What else do you want me to say, Mom? I've told you already that I've heard you and I promise to hold flowers, isn't that enough already ?"

She glared at him "Just make sure you do as you said " With that being said she made her way out of the room and he let out a sigh of relief. She always gets on his nerves. He might be the strongest alpha but his mother is on another level.

Just when he thought he could continue his work, his phone rang beside him at the desk. Asher picked it up and saw the caller ID, it turned out to be his closest friend, Mitome. He rolled his eyes and picked it up immediately.

" what do you want ?" Asher's voice boomed in the room

Mitome was already used to Asher's rudeness towards him so he said " Did anyone make you angry before I called?" 

Asher felt like hitting him right now. He has loads of work to do and he is still questioning him ?" I see you don't have anything important to say. I'm hanging up now "

" Wait up!-–

Asher paused to hear what he had to say " I'm giving you just a few minutes to talk. I don't want you to waste my time "

" Yes boss" Mitome teased and Asher growled out 

" ok fine sorry. I just called to remind you about the party tonight. Make sure you come. I know you always avoid parties like this. Who knows you might find your mate " he said and that got Asher angry 

"I don't need a mate. I already have a fiancée so what are you talking about ?"

Mitome was quiet for a second "Are you sure you can leave with someone you don't love in the first place ?"

" Did I ever tell you that I need a woman to love ?" Asher shot back and Mitome knew he was getting angry already so he didn't want to rile him up anymore.

" I'm sorry. I just thought this might help you find your mate. Remember when we were young, we always talked about what our mate should look like and stuff "

Asher felt bad for yelling at him but Mitome needs to mind his damn business too, he thought to himself "Is that all you want to say ?"

Mitome let out a sigh " Yeah, Lucia is saying hi "

Lucia is Mitome's mate and she is Asher's cousin. Those two met in college and moved in together immediately. Mitome loves her so much that he always wishes for his friend Asher a good mate too. 

" Tel her I said Hi too. I need to go now " Asher said and ended the call instantly. He dropped his phone on the table and all of a sudden felt weak in his body system. A mate? He thought to himself " I don't need one "

He picked up his pen and continued to write.

It was time for the party and Asher was fully dressed. As his mum instructed he made sure he got a flower for Akela. She would be there after all. He knows how flowers are so precious to ladies. He is not trying to win her or anything cos he knows Akela likes him already. They've met before. 

His ride was already waiting outside. He got into the car and then drove him down to the venue. They were headed to the blue moon pack. It's a small neighboring back right beside his. He hates attention functions organized but tiny packs like that but his mother won't let him rest so he has to honor this one cos Akela will be there, said his mother.

He rolled his eyes at the thought. He didn't know they were there already not until the chauffeur informed him "We are here sir "

Asher nodded and got out of the car. The invitees must be aware that he was coming cos the moment he stepped out of the car all eyes turned on him. He hates this so much. This pup gets on his nerves, so he thought to himself. He stridden down to the entrance and was welcomed but a man who looked familiar.

" welcome alpha " the man greeted out of respect and Asher nodded his head.

" Please forgive my rudeness, I'm Alpha Ethan, the alpha of the Blue Moon pack "

Asher sized him up and nodded his head "Oh I see "

Alpha Ethan couldn't continue his joy cos this was the first time he was speaking to the strongest alpha this close . " it's such a great honor you came. "

"Shall I go inside now ?" Asher cut him off rudely and Ethan made a gesture with his hand and said " Sure "

Asher made his way inside the hall. He was sure this was going to be a long night for him cos it's been a long he went to a function like this one. He was greeted by other alphas too. He didn't want to be rude to all of them so he took his time to converse with them too.

Mitome saw Asher from afar he dragged Lucia with him and said " Come, let greet Asher " 

Lucia's face beams at the mention of Asher. He is her favorite cousin. He might look like an ass on the outside but he has a heart of gold, she always tells people that but they don't believe her cos of a lot of things they've heard about him. Lucia was tired of defending him all the time so she let it. They can say what they like about him, as far as she knew the real him, she thought to herself.

" Asher !" Mitome called out his name when they got closer. Asher turned and saw Mitome walking down to him, he raised a brow" So you came ?"

Mitome huffed " I thought I called to inform you . I should be the one asking that instead," he said to his friend who smirked 

Asher raised a brow at Lucia " You also followed him ?"

Lucia smiled " he is my life, I need to be by his side all the time "
