The Journey of Alex (A Pokemon Tale)

Chapter 1: Game to Reality

An old man was dying.

What else is there to say.

In some manners, I can imagine my HP bar falling to 0 and a message popping up to say

Trainer Alex has fainted.

I'm not the most popular person in the world but I'm not disliked either. In fact I am considered a nobody to this world. I have never left any impressions of grandeur nor have I ever wronged anyone. I just lived life having done nothing. If anything my life is that of the background.

I regret that now. I kind of wished I had done something more meaningful with my life.

As I stared at the hospice ceiling, I started to think about how useless I was. I never tried to do anything because of the fear of failure. The thought of the unknown was always terrifying to me.

If I ever have a next time, I will live it differently. I wont hesitate. I wont regret. I will do what I want and I wont hold myself back from doing what's right.

I closed my eyes for what I felt would be my last time as the energy of my body slowly drifted away. In a way I felt my consciousness flow out of my mind as I imagined my life differently.

After a while, I felt my energy coming back a little.

What's going on? I opened my eyes to notice a young woman staring at me while she held onto me.

huh? what's going on, why is this really tall woman holding me like a baby?

I looked around to notice there was a Pokéball symbol above the door.

The woman in question had 2 pink pigtails and was wearing what looks to be a nurses outfit.

Is this a joke? I couldn't believe it. Did God give me another chance?

I looked at my hands to notice they were small and proceeded to look at my small body.

I don't know why but tears started to pool at the rim of my eyes.

I was given another chance.

I really was.

...

2 Years Later

...

Its been 2 years since I arrived. I found out that I was an orphaned child who was left at the doorstep of a Pokémon center. I have absolutely no idea who my mother and father were but apparently I was left there with a letter from my supposed patron informing them that my name was Alex.

There was many things to this world that I had yet to discover first hand but so far, it seems as if my past knowledge has a lot of worth.

First of all, I am in the Unova Region. In my opinion, not the worst start. Ideally, I would have liked the Kanto region for the storyline, but at least my favorite Pokémon can be obtained here.

Second, I have discovered that I came fully equipped with an ability that no one has called the system. The system itself, didn't have a lot to offer yet but it seems to act like a status menu of sorts.

Third, Pokémon effort values DO NOT have a cap and Levels DO NOT exist. In the past games, the Pokémon had 4 traits that affected their stats called Individual Values (IV), Effort Values (EV), Natures, and Levels. Ultimately, This means, that with enough effort, any Pokémon can be competitively strong.

Lastly,

"Hey Alex"

I turned around from my reading to see my aunt Joy behind me.

"Hi Aunty Joy!!"

I got up and hugged her. She has always had a a habit of spoiling me and I treated her as I would a mother.

as she hugged me back, she looked at me with a smile but I could tell there was a bit of a sadness to her smile.

"what's wrong?" I asked

I'm sorry Alex but it looks like I am being transferred.

"Oh really? where are we going?"

Joy looks at me in surprise

"we?"

I smirk at mama joy

" you didn't really think you were gonna leave me here right?"

"But Alex, what about your education? You cant leave here, you have friends that you would have to leave behind."

I look at Mama Joy with a deadpan expression

"Mama Joy, are you serious? "

"huh?"

I heave a heavy sigh as I kept staring at her.

"I'm 2 years old, I can make friends anywhere" I said with a shrug.

"You would still need permission from the director."

"Please, as if that's gonna be hard. I prank the director on a daily basis, if anything, he would love to get rid of me. hahahahaha"

Nurse Joy let out a sweat drop.

If anything, she knew it to be true.

"Okay, mama, I'm gonna go and let the director know!"

As I ran down the hall of the Pokémon Center, I crashed into the Directors Office.

"HEY OLD GRAMPS!!! ACCK!!"

I felt a fist on top of my head.

"YOU STUPID BRAT!!!"

I looked at the imposing man.

The man was tall and was a well known Gym Leader and Mayor that went by the name of Drayden.

The Orphanage was also headed by this white bearded gramps and he was known to be a spartan who loved to toss kids into a ravine in the name of training.

In fact, he tried that with me but ended up with a pocketful of firecrackers instead which in turn ended up with him swimming in the ravine instead.

Since then, every time he tried to train me, I would prank him back. It came to a point where he just chose to give up instead.

"what the hell do you want?"

I looked at gramps and gave him a cute smile

"can I go with Mama Joy when she gets transferred?"

The gramps looks at me with a thoughtful expression as he thinks about it.

"what about your friends? Iris is gonna miss you you know."

"hehe, It'll be fine. Its not like it's gonna be goodbye forever, Ill be back sooner or later."

The gramps had a sweat-drop as he looks at me

"Are you sure your only 2?"

"Yep!!"

He looks at me again while leaning on his table.

"What 2 year old knows how to talk as fluently as you while reading a majority of the books in the library?"

I looked at him thoughtfully as I pointed at myself.

"this one?"

He lets out a heavy sigh

"Well, if your gonna leave I might as well give it to you now."

I had a questioning gaze as Drayden got up and started rummaging through his table.

"Ahh, here it is."

As he says that, he places an incubator with an egg inside, and a letter.

As I took a closer look I noticed a Wax seal on the letter had a dragon-like motif.

"uhm, what are these?"

"Well, the first thing is obviously an incubator with an egg in it. This incubator and letter was left on the doorstep when you arrived as a baby."

I looked carefully at the incubator as I was very curious.

"can I read the letter?"

"sure, I don't even know what it says, can't read a single letter of it."

I opened the letter and got shocked instantly as it was written in English.

The common form of writing has always been in Japanese but the fact that it was written in English is shocking to say the least.

Dear Alex,

As you might have guessed, You are no longer in your original world.

Since you longed for another chance, I have decided to give you a new one.

The Pokémon in the egg was created for you as a gift along with your system.

To be completely clear, I am doing this out of the kindness of my heart.

You have lived a useless life in your previous world but since you showed signs of remorse,

I have decided to give you another chance.

All I ask is that you keep your word and do good.

Don't shy away from your fears anymore and strive to take proper steps.

The fate of this world may have already been set in stone,

but with your influence in this world, that will no longer be true.

I look forward to your adventure.

Love,

Your Father

After reading this letter, I have no idea as to how I should process this information.

I didn't expect to get a letter from my so called father himself.

---------------------------------------------------------

Drayden looks from his table at the most peculiar thing.

The letter he presented to the child was unreadable and yet, this child seems to be reading it earnestly.

The child is way too smart as this letter was written in a dead language.

From his research and from asking around, he has discovered that this was written in a language similar to that of the Unown language.

No one has been able to crack that language and yet here is a child who is able to do just that at a glance.

Drayden closed his eyes as he ponders what may be in store for this child.
