Chapter 22: A History and A Half.
"Shut up." Diego did not even have to raise his head to know who was talking to him. Just by listening to his voice, he was able to identify who it was. Thaniel just smirked and sat himself down in the long chair. "You are still as temperamental as I remember you to be." Thaniel said shamelessly. "And you are still the same snitch I met years ago." Diego replied without mercy. "I hope you don't get angry with your wife like this, do you?" Thaniel asked with folded arms. "And what is it to you?" Diego asked, finally raising his head up to look at him. "Theodore told me it was a contractual marraige. Hey, if you two do end up going separate ways, then can I.." Thaniel wasn't even given a chance to complete his sentence, before Diego pounced on him like a mad dog, one kneel on his chest and both of his hands on his neck. "Kergh, Diego, what do you think you are doing?" Thaniel choked as he struggled to catch his breath. "You will wake Diane.." "There is absolutely no need for you to worry about her." Diego rudely cut him off. "It is an advanced sleeping spell, so she wouldn't be able to hear anything.. but at least, she will sleep well." Diego said. "Are you seriously going to kill me?" Thaniel asked, trying to pry Diego's hands off his neck. "I thought I made it obvious enough already?" Diego asked as he tightened his grip. "You do know what will happen to me if you kill me right?" Thaniel asked. He had tried to use his magic earlier, but it was to no avail. 'This arrogant bastard.' He cursed in his mind. "Do I look like someone that cares about consequences?" Diego asked. 'Why on earth would I ask somebody that has proven to me countless times that he is completely insane this question? ' Thaniel thought, after recollecting some 'lovely' memories. "Okay, fine, you win! I am sorry, I crossed my boundaries, now please let go of Me, or I might actually die!" Diego did take some time in letting go though. As soon as he did, Thaniel immediately started coughing and gasping, in order to to return the state of his body back to normalcy. "You jerk." He muttered under his breath as he glared at Diego, cursing. "Did you say something?" Diego asked calmly, as he adjusted the cuffs of his shirt. 'This bloody bastard! If you weren't so much stronger ger than me, I would have beaten you to a pulp!' Thaniel cursed again(in his mind, though). "Why did you react like that anyway? It is not like you to protect someone this way. Except for your sister and innate family members of course." Thaniel asked. "I... don't know. My body moved before I realized it." Diego replied, as he momentarily paused what he was doing. "Could it be that you have fallen for her?" Thaniel asked, as he swung his hand over Diego's shoulder, his Hazel eyes glittering. "Please, it's way to early. And besides, I have never gotten attracted to any woman before." Diego said, as he removed Thaniel's arm from his shoulder. "Except for Diane of course." Thaniel muttered. "Aren't you being to cheeky for someone who was being confronted by death five minutes ago?" Diego asked with scowl. "I am sorry, I will leave now!" Thaniel said, as he disappeared in a flash of light. Of course, no sane man would want to experience that again.

Light streamed through the curtains, and a pale but slender arm shielded her eyes to block off the rays of the sun. Her right Hand subconsciously moved towards theft side of the bed, but the space there was empty. She sat up and yawned, blonde hair Falling pleasantly around her shoulders. She rubbed her eyes and looked around, but still there was no sign of Diego. 'Maybe he didn't sleep here last night.' Diane said. 'Was he maybe.. upset with the fight we had yesterday?" She thought. Now she felt guilty. She should have never told him that she hated him. How much of him did she hate, anyway?
After having breakfast, she went to see Morris. Not surprising to her, All three children were chatting away happily in Morris's room. Diane also noticed that Morris was becoming less ill, too. And the best of it all, was the fact that Leonia was slowly opening up to her. "Sister, you will.go with us right?" Morris asked her excitedly, as his green eyes sparkled like stars. "Hey! I was still talking to her! You can't just interrupt like that, it's rude!" Leonia exclaimed, pulling Diane closer to her. "No fair! She was my sister before she became yours, so obviously she has to pay attention to me." Morris said, tugging Diane by the order arm. Before she realized it, she was being drawn to and fro. "She will!" Morris said. "She will not!" Leonia argued. "She must definitely will, sit beside me!" Morris cried out. "No fair! Why should she sit beside you?" Leonia asked. "Ahem." The trio were so indulged in what they were doing that they failed to notice the presence of an uninvited guest. "Can I take Diane of your hands, just for a second?" Natasha asked the children with a small smile.
"Leonia has clearly grown quite fond of you." Natasha said as they sat in the courtyard. "I am really glad about that." Diane said. 'I wish I could grow close to Diego, too.' She thought. "Ah, Diego is taking the children on an outing next week. Did he tell you?" Natasha asked with a bout of realization. "No he didn't. He doesn't tell me anything." Diane said with a frown. "Maybe he forgot to inform you... Oh, mother! What are you doing here?" Natasha asked, as she saw Maria Striding gently towards them. "Ladies." Maria began. "Do you mind If I join?"
