Shen Lian stood frozen as if struck by lightning, his body trembling uncontrollably. The scene he just witnessed shattered every belief he had ever held—his understanding, education, and worldview crumbled in an instant.
Had he ever seen a monstrous bird flatten a mountain with a single sweep of its wings? A golden crocodile stir up a tsunami with just a flip of its body? Or a terrifying giant ape with eight arms capable of tearing apart mountains and seas?
Shen Lian stood dumbfounded, completely stunned.
Meanwhile, countless powerhouses from across the heavens and myriad worlds who were watching the All-Heavens Gold List laughed heartily.
"Hahahaha! I never thought I'd see the day when His Majesty Liandi would be frightened by a few low-level demonic beasts!" Xuan Ba clutched his beard and roared with laughter.
He looked at Shen Lian on the screen, stunned and speechless, and felt oddly relieved. In Xuan Ba's eyes, Shen Lian had always been a lofty figure—an emperor among emperors, as unreachable as a star in the night sky. But this moment showed him that even the man who once dominated the heavens, even the universe's first emperor, had once been afraid.
This made Shen Lian seem more real, more human, and more relatable.
"Headache…" Shen Lian muttered as he looked at Di Ji, Yuan Ye, and the others who were chuckling softly at his past self. He couldn't help but raise a hand to his forehead in slight embarrassment. Losing face like this was such a heavy blow.
Meanwhile, the video continued playing.
Shen Lian had taken refuge deep within the 100,000 Mountains of the Middle East. Hunting large beasts during the day and surviving on scraps of cooked meat by night, he clung to life. Luckily, he was small and agile. As long as he learned the beasts' patterns and acted cautiously, many terrifying monsters ignored his presence and allowed him to pass by unharmed.
Using the sky as his quilt and the earth as his bed, he drank morning dew from mountain springs and gnawed on the flesh of beasts by night. He endured and survived like a weed in a storm, tenacious and unyielding.
Every time despair crept in and he wanted to give up, he would take out the wrinkled admission letter tucked in the inner fold of his shirt. Just one glance at it reignited his willpower.
He couldn't give up.
He had to return home.
His father, mother, and little sister must be heartbroken by his disappearance.
And so, Shen Lian persisted day and night. While searching for food, he also scouted the area, looking for the cave that had brought him into this world. A whole month passed this way.
One night, deep in a valley surrounded by cliffs, Shen Lian spotted a small black-haired monkey trapped in a crevice in the rock wall. A thick vine coiled around its middle, completely immobilizing it.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
As Shen Lian approached with a stone knife, the little monkey shrieked in terror, its fur standing on end in alarm.
Crack!
Shen Lian swung the stone knife down.
The monkey flinched and covered its eyes, bracing for the worst.
But the blade didn't touch it. Instead, Shen Lian severed the vines, freeing the monkey from its trap.
The black-haired monkey flipped out of the crevice, stared wide-eyed at Shen Lian, scratching its ears in confusion.
"Looking at me like that? You're lucky I found you first. If it had been someone else, you might not have been so fortunate."
Shen Lian shook his head, tucked the stone knife into his belt, and turned to leave.
The monkey followed him for a few steps.
Shen Lian stopped. So did the monkey.
"You little guy... you trying to follow me?"
He turned around, kicked the monkey lightly on its rump, and scolded playfully, "Get lost! I can barely feed myself. Don't think I'm your meal ticket."
With that, he walked into a nearby cave.
The monkey scratched its head, hesitated, then looked back at Shen Lian. After a moment, it turned and darted away into the forest.
Shen Lian, who had been watching out of the corner of his eye, smiled.
"Go home, little guy. Your parents are waiting."
Murmuring to himself, a shadow passed over his expression.
He looked up at the starry sky and sighed.
A month had passed since his disappearance. What were his parents and sister going through?
In the Comment Area of the All-Heavens and Myriad Worlds:
"So it turns out, at the beginning, His Majesty Liandi had such a tough time!" – [Do You Think of Dancing]
"Compared to His Majesty, we really have no complaints. No matter how bad our talent is, at least we had a home." – [Han Paopao]
"I get how he felt. Being thrown into an alien world, alone and helpless—it's terrifying." – [Demon Emperor Pang Bo]
"Wait! Did anyone notice that the little monkey looks like the eight-armed giant ape we saw earlier?" – [Lu Zu Lu Dongxuan]
"Huh? Now that you say it, that actually makes sense!" – [Badi Li Baye]
"Damn! That means His Majesty's great fortune may have started right then!" – [King Xu Bing of the Exploding Sky Gang]
Experts from all worlds were instantly alert, holding their breath and staring at the video. They sensed that Shen Lian's destiny had changed the moment he saved that little monkey.
The Next Morning
Shen Lian, asleep in a cave nestled in a cliff face, was roused by a gust of foul wind.
His honed instincts kicked in. In a flash, he gripped the stone knife behind him and glanced up warily.
In the very next second, a wave of icy dread surged from his spine to the top of his head.
A massive eye, glowing red like a lantern, stared at him with emotionless intensity from outside the cave.
"Eight-armed ape?!"
Shen Lian instantly recognized it.
It was one of the top dominators of the 100,000 Mountains—the eight-armed giant ape.
Shen Lian's heart tightened. Still, he gripped the knife tighter.
A moment passed.
The giant ape stepped back, revealing a battered face with claw marks and bruises.
"What do you want?" Shen Lian said coldly, already prepared to fight to the death.
Suddenly, a small black-haired monkey popped out from behind the giant ape's neck. It grinned and waved at Shen Lian excitedly.
"You... little monkey? Is that you?"
Shen Lian stared in disbelief.
"Haw~~!!"
The monkey pointed at itself, then at the giant ape beside it. Then, puffing up its chest proudly, it beat its chest with both hands and let out a proud howl.
"You mean... this is your father?"
Shen Lian blinked in amazement.
"Haw!!"
The little monkey nodded vigorously, bouncing up and down joyfully on the shoulder of the towering eight-armed giant ape.
