Chapter 108 Zeus: Flavorful, No Need for Much Salt!_2
"How, how much?"
Jason was stunned when he heard this and couldn't believe his ears. He turned his head in astonishment to seek confirmation from Prometheus.
"454.2 billion years..." Prometheus reasserted, before adding rather somberly, "Of course, that's assuming you're lucky enough not to repeat any moves."
"454.2 billion years? You've got to be joking!" Jason nearly threw the bronze hexahedron he was holding and his face was filled with disbelief.
Prometheus helplessly shrugged his shoulders and candidly replied, "Unfortunately, according to my calculations, this object has about 43 quintillion states. In order to randomly restore it to a single color on all six sides just by flailing around, it would take at least 454 billion years."
"Hisss~~" Upon hearing this, Jason couldn't help but turn pale and sharply inhaled a breath of cold air, tossing the hot potato back into Prometheus's arms, and said deflatedly, "We don't even have to wait for this thing to be solved; our bones will probably be dust by then, right? What's the point of attacking the Titan Temple?"
"If you know the correct method, it could save some time."
"How long?"
"Done."
As his words fell, Prometheus stopped his movements and opened his hand. The bronze hexahedron was miraculously restored to the same color on all six sides.
Jason's eyes popped out as he looked up at the calm and collected seer before him, his face full of shock.
"How many moves did you make?"
"Twenty," Prometheus truthfully answered, explaining in a serious tone.
"I have explored and calculated for a long time. Twenty moves is basically the limit for the fastest restoration."
"How did you do it? Teach me~!"
Jason's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he instantly pounced, clinging to Prometheus's arm, pleading with a brazen face to be taught.
If he could solve the Space Maze crafted by the hand of Divine King Kronos himself and lead the Argo Heroes to find the way to the Titan Temple, he would certainly become an epic figure in this expedition!
Prometheus was not stingy, either. He directly took out a stack of parchment filled with characters from the Magic Circle Diagram, handing over the restoration techniques he had summarized to the eager Jason.
However, once Jason looked at the manuscript, his hopeful expression collapsed.
The symbols made sense individually, but put together they made him sweat profusely. Even with simple schematic explanations, he still found it completely confusing.
Clearly, this just wasn't for him.
Out of reluctance, Jason had to extinguish his dream of glory and heroism. He turned and handed the bronze hexahedron and manuscript to Chiron, known as the Sage, hoping that this teacher could salvage some dignity for his student.
But after fumbling with it for a while, Chiron ultimately shook his head in frustration and handed the objects back to Prometheus.
"If we had enough time, perhaps I could learn it slowly, but I'm afraid there's no chance right now."
None of them could do it?
If Athena and that lad were here, perhaps there would be a chance.
Prometheus took back the manuscript and the bronze hexahedron, with a flash of imperceptible gloom in his eyes.
Indeed, just as the seer had anticipated.
If Luo En had been present, he would have recognized at a glance that the model of the Space Maze in Prometheus's hands was, in fact, a three-dimensional Rubik's Cube.
And the restoration techniques on those parchments also corresponded in many ways to the future's three-dimensional Rubik's Cube Seven-step Restoration Method.
At this moment, Hercules, who had gathered his composure, stepped forward and looked at the bronze Magic Cube in Prometheus's hands, asking the question that puzzled him.
"Speaking of which, how did the underground world turn into what it is now? I remember the last time I broke in here, there was none of this ghostly stuff."
Prometheus replied helplessly, "Because the space maze surrounding the Titan Temple was only completed two days ago. I've been studying its operation patterns recently, not finding a clue to this thing until now."
On the second day after the cessation of hostilities at the Thessaly front, he had gone to War God Mountain to keep an appointment, making pledges to several there, promising them to lead the way for the Argo Expeditionary Army to jointly destroy the Titan Temple.
For this reason, upon his return to the nest of the Giant Spirit Clan, he took the opportunity to suggest to Kronos, persuading the Titan King to anchor the [Divine Throne] and [Crown] underground in order to hide his own weaknesses.
Although Kronos adopted his strategy, he did not fully trust him and secretly added an extra safeguard to his own [Divine Throne] and [Crown].
By the time he noticed the changes in the underground world, it was too late to warn those on War God Mountain; he could only try to find the answers himself so that when meeting with the Argo Expeditionary Army, he could lead them safely out of here.
Unfortunately, after the Argo Expeditionary Army entered, they had been continuously on the move due to the encirclement and pursuit of the Magic Beasts and giants.
Although Prometheus left markings in each spatial unit and replicated the entire model of the underground maze, finding the path to converge with the Argo Expeditionary Army amidst the chaos was a significant drain on his time.
The Argo Expeditionary Army also suffered many casualties as a result.
After straightening out the sequence of events, Chiron could not help but frown.
"How did Kronos come up with such an ingenious construction of spatial spells?"
As a son of Kronos, Chiron knew to some extent the nature of his old father.
When had that cruel, warlike Titan King ever had such a studious spirit to use his space authority to create a puzzle even he, the Centaur Sage, could not solve?
Prometheus snorted and shook his head:
"Your father, of course, is not that clever; someone secretly provided him with the construction scheme for this space maze."
"Who?"
"Pandora!"
As he uttered the answer, a rare chill flashed through Prometheus's eyes.
Speaking of which, he and that Catastrophe Witch were old nemeses.
Firstly, after Zeus imprisoned him, humanity's creator, he gathered the power of the Olympian Gods to create a rare Divine Artifact called [Pandora's Box] as a gift to the humans of the Golden Age, to ease tensions between gods and men and display his own generosity and benevolence.
On the surface, this thing could absorb the evil desires, pain, disaster, plague, and other negative forces of the mortal world, purifying mankind's body and mind, providing them with a peaceful and beautiful world.
But in reality, the calamities absorbed by [Pandora's Box] did not disappear, but rather accumulated within, breeding a monster destined to destroy human civilization.
Back then, his foolish brother Epimetheus had blindly trusted the goodwill released by Zeus, neglecting his warnings and choosing to accept this fraught gift, resulting in the birth of the Catastrophe Witch Pandora and leading the tribe he earnestly guarded towards annihilation.
Pandora, the one with all the gifts, was meant to be a name full of wonderful implications.
Yet from her birth, although she was blessed by the twelve Olympian Chief Gods, she was continuously nurtured by the evil desires accumulated over thousands of years of humanity, ultimately growing into a humanoid weapon aimed against human civilization.
Catastrophe and death were her nourishment, destruction and slaughter her mission.
Since her descent into the world, civilizations from the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ages had been directly or indirectly destroyed by her hand.
Perhaps due to excessive killing, which displeased The Three Fates, after destroying the Bronze Clan, Zeus sealed her back into the Magic Box and sank it into the deep sea.
However, it now seemed that the Divine King of Olympus, in an effort to suppress the rapidly developing civilization of the surface world, had secretly dredged up this effective pawn from the depths of the sea.
The Giant War, which was escalating and gradually deviating from the path of fate, was likely instigated by the Catastrophe Witch behind the scenes.
And the true puppet master, undoubtedly, was that [just and benevolent] Divine King Zeus.
Under fate, everyone is but a pawn of the Heavenly Destiny Divine King.
