Chapter 6: The Written exam (6)
Seijuro made his way inside the classroom—it was pretty tidy. He went toward his seat, somewhere in front, 'cause why not?
He waited for everyone else to get in. Took a while. He could tell this wasn't the only exam center—there were like five more, with each class having roughly 40 students in them. Maybe 50. Depends, really.
Anyway, that was none of his business.
It took roughly ten minutes for every student to take their seats. The teacher—probably a Chunin... no, he was a Chunin.
Somewhere in the middle, so like, mid-tier Chunin. Hm. He'd ask his Nanny later about what to expect from a Chunin. They were, after all, the middle man—between being truly weak and somewhere in the middle.
Seijuro needed to get his strength to Chunin level before he graduated, and get to Jonin in even less time. Hm. He could manage—especially with his insane potential. It was just a matter of learning. And if he was being fair, he was doing just fine.
The Chunin walked around the room, placing the test papers face down... hm, double-paged. That could prove a bit problematic.
No. He could do the math. He wasn't stupid.
He'd do well enough.
Once the papers were handed out, the man walked in front of the room.
"This is a test conducted in order to find where you stand academically.
You will have 90 minutes to complete it. There are 45 questions on the test.
Make sure you do them all. If you cannot do a question, move to the next one.
Remember, you only have 2 minutes per question."
"If you need to use the bathroom, now is as good a time as any.
The bathroom will be closed while the test is happening,
so if you feel like you want to pee mid-test,
you better finish it first before going."
"This test will, in conjunction with the physical test you will undergo later, determine which class you will enter.
Thus, you should try your hardest."
The man paused, as if to make sure everyone heard him.
His eyes scanned the classroom. Then he raised his voice.
"Any questions?"
The classroom was very quiet. Hm, guess no one had any questions.
"Good. You may now flip the paper and begin."
The sound of 40 or so papers being flipped echoed across the room. The man walked toward what seemed to be a timer.
There, he turned it on... for 90 minutes.
Hm... he could mess with that.
Hehhe.
He looked at the paper.
Name: Seijuro Kurama
Question 1: What is the Will of Fire?
He looked at the question. It seemed like a test. Oh well, he'd play along.
He decided to answer like a Hokage would want to see.
{The Will of Fire is the belief that one should protect their village. While the leaves may burn, their ash serves as fuel to help the tree grow. The Will of Fire is—to me—the ideal of placing the village's needs above one's own. As long as the village lives and grows, you know your family is safe, and you can always count on your comrades to have your back. The Will of Fire is the reason Konoha still stands to this day.}
Hm. That should be good enough.
Question 2: What will you do if, while fighting two Iwa Shinobi—both proficient in Earth Style—you need to escape with your teammates?
He sighed a bit.
The logical answer was to abandon his teammates, save himself, since he could report back with the intel.
However... he didn't think that's what the Hokage wanted to see.
Sighing again, he answered:
{Assuming I am a Chunin or Jonin, the best choice would be to lure them into a trap.
This, however, wouldn't be that simple.
The ideal way would be to use Henge no Jutsu on some explosive tags, turning them into clumps of earth or loose soil.
Jump away, engage them using a long-range attack.
The Iwa-nin are highly likely to use Doton: Doryūheki (Earth-Style Wall).
There's a good chance that they will use the wall to block—right where the tags are.
From midair, use a jutsu that mimics the sizzling sound of a burning tag.
Launch it at them.
As they react, detonate the tags.
They won't see it coming.
While they're injured or distracted, create two clones—one with your appearance, one with your teammate's.
Make them look like they're escaping.
Meanwhile, use Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu (Headhunter Jutsu) to go underground with your real teammate.
While the enemies chase the clones, you take this chance to retreat and report.}
Question 13: Explain the chakra control principle behind tree-walking. Why is it important?
{Tree-walking utilizes the precise control of chakra flow through the feet to stick to surfaces.
Too little chakra and you fall. Too much and you push yourself off.
It trains constant, low-level chakra regulation, which is the foundation for advanced techniques.
It's also essential for mobility during missions in rough terrain.
It helps build the instincts necessary for techniques that require sustained chakra output.
If you can't master this, you'll waste chakra in real combat.}
Question 26: If you are fighting two Cloud Shinobi using Lightning Style, and you have 1/4 of your chakra left, with 20 kunai, 5 explosive kunai, and 3 military pills, what is the best course of action?
Hm. All these questions being about jumping someone one way or another.
In this case:
{First, toss 2 explosive kunai between them—not to harm, but to force them to Shunshin away.
Immediately after, Shunshin 30 feet back.
Swallow one military pill on the move to sustain a bit of stamina.
Head into the trees—Cloud Shinobi prefer direct combat, so terrain gives you an edge.
Feign fatigue and toss another explosive kunai, making it look like a desperate act.
Use Henge no Jutsu on two rocks, turning them into camouflaged explosive kunai.
Place them subtly in your fallback zone.
Next time they attack, act sloppy—drop one kunai deliberately.
When they ignore it, thinking you're panicking, detonate all charges at once.
Use the resulting chaos to either finish them or escape.
If escape is impossible, use the rest of your kunai to slow pursuit.}
Question 39: You are outnumbered 4-to-1, surrounded, with no backup. You've been poisoned by an enemy blade and only have one antidote dose left. You know one of your teammates was also struck. What do you do?
{First, analyze the type of poison—if the onset is slow-acting and your teammate shows symptoms before you, administer the antidote to them.
You are likely more experienced and can delay symptoms with chakra control.
While your teammate regains function, instruct them to focus on mobility jutsu—Substitution, Body Flicker, anything that lets them move fast.
You create a distraction: use your limited chakra to trigger a defensive maneuver like a clone detonation or smoke bomb.
As the enemies attack you, your teammate should escape and call for reinforcements.
If neither of you escape, the antidote goes to the one with higher mission priority.
The goal is not personal survival—it's mission survival.
That's the shinobi way.}
Question 45 (Final): You and your team of three are trapped in enemy territory after a failed infiltration mission. You have one injured teammate, a stolen scroll of high-level jutsu that must not fall into enemy hands, and are being hunted by sensory-nin with tracking dogs. You are currently low on chakra, injured, and only one route leads to a potential escape—but it's through an enemy checkpoint. What is your plan?
He smirked a little. A real scenario at last.
{First, assess the terrain—natural choke points, wind direction (important for dogs), and elevation.
Assign roles immediately—one teammate carries the injured, one plays decoy, I stay behind for tactical execution.
Use a mix of Henge and clone trickery—Bunshin no Jutsu or Oboro Bunshin—to simulate movement.
Make the scroll a decoy by wrapping a similar item, cover it in your chakra, and attach it to a clone.
Let the clone go visible and loud, drawing attention.
Meanwhile, use the terrain to mask your scent—cover in mud, mask heartbeat with chakra suppression.
Use a low-powered Fire Style or Wind Style jutsu to create a controlled burn in nearby forest—smoke disables visibility and scent.
Move during the chaos.
If forced to engage at the checkpoint, feign surrender to get in close range.
Use Kawarimi with a tagged item inside your cloak to switch and detonate, buying time.
You only get one real shot.
The goal is simple: ensure the scroll reaches Konoha.
Even if no one else does.}
He sighed... strategy was quite fun.
