Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The True Rune
Chapter 26: The True Rune
This was a new feature he had exchanged for at the cost of 100,000 reward points.
[Teleportation Rune].
A total of five were embedded into the five game towers.
They could sense any lifeforms within 500 kilometers of the towers and allowed soul teleportation of individual targets for just 5 reward points.
Without the teleportation rune, capturing and transferring a soul into the game to become a player would cost 15 points each.
Now, the cost was significantly reduced.
As the number of players increased, this item had become a necessity.
In addition, Fang Yi had also spent 200,000 reward points to create a [True Rune] and embed it in one of the towers.
It would be put to use shortly.
[Fang Yi]
Reincarnation Structures: Novice Village (Lv.1), Game Towers ×5 (Lv.2), Teleportation Runes ×5 (Lv.2), True Rune ×1 (Lv.1)
World Exploration: Shinobi World (26%), Pirate World Coordinates (0.01%)
Player Count: 1501
Corruption Source: Sealed
Reward Points: 265,020
A faint tremor rippled through the air.
It was the sensation of the world barrier being pried open.
Fang Yi sensed it: the reward points he'd spent to probe the Pirate World had finally taken effect. He could now extend his reach into a new world.
But first, he had to deal with the current batch of players.
"Who are you?!"
"You dare attack Iwagakure shinobi? The Tsuchikage will make you pay!"
"The country gives those damn ninjas a fortune every year, and they can't even protect me? They should all be executed!"
"..."
Fang Yi rubbed his temples, wondering if he should create a memory rune in the future.
Just like in those main god space setups, he could directly transmit information into the brains of new players—
otherwise, there'd always be a few idiots clueless about the situation.
"You may call me the Game Merchant."
Fang Yi raised his hand slightly—no dramatic movement, not even a ripple of energy.
Suddenly, all the players realized their mouths had vanished.
They could no longer speak.
That bizarre method shut them up completely. They quietly listened to the mysterious figure in the sky.
If he could erase mouths, what about hearts?
That thought chilled everyone.
Fang Yi nodded in satisfaction. Silence was exactly what he wanted. He hated repeating himself.
"This is a game that can change your destiny," he said. "Whether it's hunting corrupted monsters or completing quests, you can accumulate reward points. These points can be used to buy anything from me."
Their mouths reappeared, but no one spoke.
Until one young voice broke the silence.
Sasuke's breathing grew heavy. He stared at the merchant in the sky. "Anything?"
He wanted to know—how far did "anything" really go?
The others looked over too. They had the same question but didn't dare speak first.
"Uchiha kid, huh?"
One keen-eyed ninja noticed the Uchiha crest on Sasuke's training uniform. His expression shifted.
The Uchiha Massacre had become known across the shinobi world.
The perpetrator, Uchiha Itachi, had defected and was now an S-rank rogue ninja.
Anyone who could wipe out the Uchiha Clan was a dangerous monster.
The surviving heir had become a prize—
every village dreaming of obtaining the bloodline limit he carried.
"He's Uchiha Itachi's little brother?"
In a corner, a woman in commoner's clothing glanced at Sasuke, then looked back up at the sky.
Her lavender hair was tied into a loose bun, adorned with a white paper flower. Her amber eyes reflected the image of the mysterious merchant.
Her face was grim.
She was one of the original founders of the Akatsuki, codename White Tiger—known as the Angel of the Rain by the people of Amegakure.
Everything from the sudden teleportation to the formation of an energy body unsettled her deeply.
"A being with an aura this powerful… it rivals the Gedo Statue!"
"How could such a powerful ninja suddenly appear in the shinobi world?"
Konan frowned.
She had to contact Pain immediately. The appearance of the merchant could interfere with Akatsuki's plans.
"Shame, the timing's off."
A man dressed like nobility but actually the lord of Hozuki Castle—a shinobi of Kusagakure—looked away.
He paid no mind to the merchant's words.
The man had terrifying space-time ninjutsu, yes.
But he only cared about one thing: the Box of Ultimate Bliss that could grant any wish.
Everything else was meaningless.
Fang Yi watched everyone's reactions. He had already spotted a few interesting players.
The impulsive and brooding Uchiha Sasuke—reincarnation of Indra's chakra.
One half of the destined duo who would one day save the world alongside Uzumaki Naruto.
But his eyes lingered longer on the cold, distant woman—the White Tiger of the Akatsuki.
A person who could disguise six hundred billion explosive tags as an ocean…
Even though duplicating the same item reduced its value in terms of Origin, it was still a massive haul of reward points.
It might even exceed the total funding of all five great ninja villages combined.
Fang Yi hadn't expected much from the random player recruitment.
But this was a pleasant surprise.
"Yes, anything."
He turned to Sasuke, smiling as he extended his right hand. "You're an Uchiha. You should recognize this."
A beautifully detailed eyeball appeared in his palm, hovering midair.
Its crimson hue, swirling tomoe forming a unique black pattern—
"The Mangekyō Sharingan!"
Sasuke's eyes widened in disbelief at the eye's distinctive pattern.
This was the power Itachi spoke of—
an eye awakened only by sacrificing the one you love most.
"An illusion?"
Konan narrowed her eyes.
She was no stranger to the Mangekyō.
It was the eye of Uchiha Itachi, the clan-slayer, and also possessed by the mysterious figure claiming to be Madara.
A cursed eye.
Though not as powerful as Nagato's Rinnegan, it was far stranger and more versatile.
Every Mangekyō bore a unique power.
To her knowledge, only Itachi and "Madara" possessed them.
So this merchant—
he had either sealed their chakra and trapped them all in an illusion no one could break.
Or he was showing a fake, something made to look impressive but ultimately worthless.
"Is it real?"
Even Sasuke's gaze showed doubt. He craved power, but he didn't want to be made a fool.
Fang Yi simply smiled and nodded. "Of course. The real deal."
This was the effect of the True Rune.
It allowed him to simulate any power within the Game Tower's range without spending reward points.
It couldn't be taken outside, though.
And since the rune was only Level 1, it could only simulate powers up to Tier 2.
In the Shinobi World, power was wildly unbalanced.
Even the hard-earned Mangekyō Sharingan was barely at the peak of Tier 1. Most regular ninjas were at low Tier 1.
The Ōtsutsuki Clan, however, had completely skewed the power scale, occupying Tier 2.
In the final battle, all the world's ninja became spectators—only Naruto and Sasuke, the destiny twins, could fight the true enemy.
Thus, the True Rune could recreate anything in the Shinobi World below Six Paths tier.
Including the one thing Sasuke desired most: the Mangekyō Sharingan.
