Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Wraith General Is Defeated

Chapter 21: The Wraith General Is Defeated

"If none of you are going to act, then I suppose the Kirigakure Alliance will have no choice but to give up the hunt."

Terumi Mei's smile was calm and composed. Even under the pressure of the monster's presence, she remained poised and dignified.

But her tone was resolute.

She had indeed underestimated the strength of the Wraith General and failed to take it down swiftly, which had allowed the "hyenas" from Kumo and Konoha to sense that something was wrong.

Of course, there was no way she would actually abandon the hunt.

Too many resources had already been poured into this operation. If there were no spoils of war, not even her status as Mizukage would protect her from being impeached by the senior advisors.

And with two rival factions present, she fully intended to spread the pressure.

But the others were quick to catch on.

Asuma chuckled lightly. "Apologies, Lady Mizukage. We of the Hidden Leaf are far too weak and won't be participating in this hunt."

Mabui, representing Kumogakure, said nothing.

She was clearly content to sit back and watch.

"Hmph..."

Terumi Mei had expected as much. She smiled, "In that case, don't blame me."

A scroll she had prepared in advance suddenly exploded in a flash.

A transparent black net enveloped everyone present, including the Wraith General, then vanished.

Hate Scroll.

A one-time-use item that massively increases a monster's aggro toward all nearby players, greatly boosting its aggression.

The Wraith General was highly intelligent, but after being wounded by traps and repeatedly ambushed, his rationality was already at its lowest.

This scroll was the final spark that ignited him.

His icy blue eyes, full of malice, locked onto all the players in the room.

Wraith Breath.

The monster opened its mouth, releasing a thick stream of spectral essence.

Within the flowing wraith water, countless claws and faces twisted and struggled—ghastly and terrifying.

Like a river bursting its dam, the flood instantly swallowed half the castle.

"Move—get clear!"

Players were shocked. They hadn't expected the monster to unleash such a devastating AoE attack.

They scrambled to higher ground to avoid the sweeping torrent of ghostly essence.

Two players from the Kumogakure Alliance reacted a second too late and were engulfed.

Within the current, countless spectral arms reached out, dragging them under.

"Kabuto-senpai!"

Naruto reached out and grabbed Kabuto just before he was swept away.

Kabuto regained his balance and smiled gently. "As expected of you, Naruto. You're definitely going to become a great ninja."

"Oh, it's nothing!"

Naruto scratched the back of his head, beaming. Being acknowledged like that felt great.

After becoming a player, the person he felt closest to in the game was Kabuto.

Not only was he kind and gentle, but he never mocked Naruto's dream of becoming Hokage—he encouraged it.

Kabuto adjusted his glasses, smiling as always.

Lord Orochimaru had assigned him a new mission: abduct Naruto without him realizing it.

A high-difficulty mission.

But the Chūnin Exams were about to begin, and once Orochimaru's Konoha Collapse Plan was triggered, the village would descend into chaos.

He only needed to spirit Naruto away in the confusion.

Mabui's face darkened. "Lady Mizukage, you're acting with such blatant aggression—are you trying to start a war?"

"Oh?"

Terumi Mei wasn't backing down. "Is the Hidden Cloud planning to drag in real-world grudges into the Reincarnation Game?"

"Enough."

"If we keep bickering, we'll all walk away empty-handed. Group stealth items aren't cheap. Do you all really want to return with nothing?"

"Let's take down the boss first. Then we can settle scores back in the Novice Village."

The Wraith General was still a very real threat. One wrong move and any of them could die.

The castle's halls were flooded with wraith essence. Anyone who touched it would be bound and slowly drained by spectral claws.

With the terrain so restrictive, player deaths skyrocketed—and reward points kept pouring into Fang Yi's coffers.

What began as a Kirigakure-only operation had now turned into the Reincarnation Game's first major joint boss raid by elite players.

Naruto and Neji, being of the younger generation, didn't think much of it.

But veterans like Terumi Mei, Asuma, and Samui found the battle deeply awkward.

They had all lived through the Shinobi Wars. The Five Great Villages had always fought as enemies. Never had they imagined one day they'd fight side by side.

Behind the screen,

The silver-haired loli asked, "Master, with the shop's level-based item restrictions, aren't you slowing down player progression?"

She was referring to the busty blonde Tsunade.

She had plenty of reward points, but because of her low level, she couldn't buy high-tier gear or items.

If the restrictions were lifted, Tsunade's strength would skyrocket—and Fang Yi would make a fortune in reward points.

A win-win.

"Don't put the cart before the horse."

Fang Yi poked her forehead gently, staring at the flat-chested loli who gorged on high-calorie food daily without gaining a curve.

"Collecting reward points is a means to an end. Defeating the Corruption Source is the goal."

"The ninja world has weak productivity and low purchasing power. That's why most of the Origin is stored in the shinobi themselves.

If we lifted shop restrictions now, sure, we'd create a batch of super-powerful players in the short term."

"But we need to think long term. Once the Wraith General is slain, we'll have enough points to unlock a new world."

Fang Yi had already planned ahead. With 10,000 reward points, he could access a new world's coordinates.

A vast realm full of islands and sea routes.

Exotic treasures, legendary blades and swordsmanship, and fruits that granted strange powers when consumed…

Navies and pirates. World Government and revolutionary armies.

A world utterly different from the Shinobi one—where treasure didn't equal power to fight Corruption.

Take the Celestial Dragons.

If item restrictions were lifted, they'd become top-tier pay-to-win players overnight.

Sure, they'd have the money—but they wouldn't even use one-tenth of their gear's power.

These whales were just for short-term funding—useless in real battles.

Back in the castle—

After a fierce onslaught by the elite players, and a flood of reward point expenditures, the massive form of the Wraith General finally fell.

"Lady Sarina...!"

In his final breath, the monster roared in fury as his body disintegrated.

A pile of glowing loot appeared—shimmering in blue and purple light.
