Chapter 39: Chapter 39 – Blackwind Ascends
The sky was dark.
Kaiser walked alone beneath storm clouds that churned above the forest canopy, every step dampened by mud and the heavy patter of rain. His breathing was calm, but inside—he felt uneasy. Like something had gone wrong before it even began.
"Just in case, I took two crystals with me. I don't know if they're still alive… probably not. They were the ones who distracted the wolf. Not me. I didn't save anyone—hell, I ran the second I felt that aura."
He clicked his tongue bitterly. The scene replayed in his mind—the way those fools raised rifles and fired modern weapons at the Lightning Wolf. As if that would work.
They weren't trying to save him. The beast had invaded their shelter, and he just happened to be there.
"Thanks for pissing it off, I guess," he muttered, half-sarcastic.
Kaiser's steps slowed. Why had he gone to that shelter again?
"Right… Aldric. I was looking for Aldric.""That bastard. I got into this mess because of him. Suspicious from the start."
The wind picked up.Rain poured harder. Then—
CRACK!A bolt of lightning screamed from the sky.Kaiser leapt back just in time.
"Damn! Is it that bastard again?!"
Lightning struck again—closer. The trees exploded into splinters.
"I haven't even left my territory yet!""Run. Run. If I live, I can kill him later. I should've stayed in the damn cave."
The world lit up in white-blue flashes. Trees evaporated. Soil turned to glass. The Lightning Wolf had arrived.
And it was clearing the forest.
BOOM.
Another strike nearly grazed him. Kaiser retaliated—slashing out with a wind-infused cleave. It connected. The beast skidded back, a long scar torn down its flank.
For a moment, Kaiser smirked.
Until the wolf's flesh mended instantly, faster than the eye could track.
"No way..."
The beast growled low and began to charge its devastating lightning blast—the one Kaiser had seen before.
"You think I'll just let you do that again?"
He aimed his palm. A series of Black Cleaves cut through the rain, disrupting the wolf's charging energy.
The beast screeched, eyes blood-red, straining to stabilize its power—but it was too late.
"Now!"
Kaiser surged forward, prepared to strike. But the wolf, realizing the danger, dispersed all its energy in a defensive detonation.
BOOM.
Kaiser flew back, propelled by Blackwind to avoid the worst of it, but the ground was vaporized. Trees vanished.
"Close combat… no good. It's stronger than me. I can't fight head-on."
He ascended, using wind pressure to fly, to gain distance. But the wolf's retaliation was swift—a lightning bolt cracked the sky, forcing Kaiser to dodge.
Then—
Pain.Lightning hit him from behind.
He crashed through tree branches, bones screaming. Before he could rise, the beast charged, fangs bared.
"Too fast!"
He released it:Black Storm.
Dark winds exploded around him. The wolf was blasted back, its form whirling through the air.
Blood poured from Kaiser's mouth, ears, and nose.
"Doesn't matter. I'll suffocate this thing. I'll end it."
He clutched the beast midair, draining oxygen with Vacuum Pressure. The wolf shrieked, unleashing a barrage of lightning bolts in panic. The pain was unbearable, but he didn't let go.
"Die."
Suddenly, from deep within the wolf—a massive discharge.
KA-BOOOOM.
The forest floor shattered.Kaiser was thrown like a ragdoll, bleeding, gasping. His left arm was numb. His bones cracked. But he stood.
And so did the wolf.
It was injured—badly. But alive.
"So be it."
Kaiser launched forward and activated Black Storm again. The impact sent the wolf flying through trees, breaking trunks like matchsticks.
But the wolf left an afterimage—then struck from the side.A new barrage of lightning fell like rain.
Kaiser roared, transformed into his beast form, and tanked the storm head-on.
"Your lightning's getting weaker."
He charged. The two monsters collided again.
Claws tore. Fangs ripped. The battle had turned to endurance.Kaiser was pushing it back. Slowly. Painfully.
But then—a burst of electricity caught him off guard.
The wolf slashed his chest, biting deep into his arm.Kaiser howled and retaliated—biting its neck.
Blood and sparks. It was a deadlock.
Then the rain stopped.
And for the first time—Sunlight pierced the clouds.
"Heaven's watching, huh?"
The wolf gathered its remaining lightning and fired a bolt. Kaiser dodged and slashed its neck with a wind blade.
It barely dodged.
They gave up on regenerating—this was now a fight to the death.
The wolf tackled him. Kaiser cleaved it off. It ripped off his arm, but he tore off its leg in return.
They were mangled. Bleeding. Exhausted. But neither stopped.
"You're not the only one with powers."
Kaiser activated his Black Wind Vacuum Storm, compressing all his remaining energy. The wolf lunged—biting his neck.
He clenched its throat with inhuman strength.
"Die—DIE!"
Bones shattered. The wolf flailed—lightning wrapping its body, forcing a rapid recovery.
Kaiser untransformed, slipping from its grip. He launched a spear of Blackwind straight into its right eye.
The beast howled—then discharged pure energy. A bolt pierced his abdomen.
Kaiser broke it off. Blood flooded his mouth.
He aimed for its left eye—missed.
The wolf slapped him through the air.He crashed into trees.
Breathing ragged, on the verge of unconsciousness, Kaiser ate the transparent crystal.
And transformed.
His body healed.Power surged.
"You think I'm winning, huh? No. You've dominated this fight from the beginning. But now—"
He charged, wind swirling violently.
Claws ripped.Fangs tore.He wouldn't let it move. Not this time.
The wolf tried to summon one final bolt—Kaiser struck its head, interrupting it.
His claw plunged through its throat.
"Die!"
The wolf caught his paw.
And released one final, unimaginable burst of lightning—
Far stronger than anything before.
