The fight for supremacy

Chapter 5: 4 years later

A year later...

In Gyan's bedroom, a figure is seen lying in a pool of blood while Gyan was seen seated in his bed as he stared at the figure with a cold expression. A lady dressed in black robes entered the room and stared at the dead figure with a shocked expression. "Your highness,am sorry for arriving late. Are you alright?" The figure asked. The lady was Gyan's swordholder and one of the few people he trusted. Well,it could be said that she was the only person that he trusted as apart from his parents Gyan does not trust anyone else in the palace." Nothing much just another assassination attempt. It seems those guys are beginning to lose their patience. It seems they are becoming bolder nowadays," Gyan said in a cold tone as he stared at the dead body of the assassin." Dispose the body," Gyan said as he closed his eyes and went back to sleep. Gyan's swordholder did as he ordered making sure to leave no traces. Meanwhile in a secret room ,two figures are seen pacing about in the room." Mr Shaw, this is the twentieth assassin that we have sent yet there is no results even after waiting for so long. His majesty just started cultivating recently yet even the top assassins that we have hired can't do anything to him," one of the ministers said." Be patient Qi Yan. She is said to have a five percent failure rate. Very few people have survived her assassination and all of them are extraordinary. I don't think a mere Gyan who just started cultivation recently can defeat her," the man called Mr Shaw replied.

The man stared at Mr Shaw for a while before he nodded his head choosing to believe him but even then he still felt unsettled. He had an ominous feeling about this but he didn't dare to voice it out. They ended up staying up all night while waiting for an assassin that was already dead and probably buried somewhere unknown. Gyan might only be around 12 years old but his ruthless and cold personality was known all over. He was too ruthless for someone his age. Even those old monsters could not compare to him. Being forced to live with his life under threat from those close to him made him who he is today; a ruthless killer who will not bat an eye at murdering someone. Even the ministers who have tried killing him or plotting him are either dead and very few of them are alive and even those who are alive fear him as they know that once given the chance he won't hesitate to kill them.

At daybreak the ministers were finally tired of waiting and decided to go back to their respective compounds to prepare for the morning court with his majesty. Not many people knew of Gyan's cultivation due to a treasure from his parents that could hide his aura. Moreover whenever he was in the palace he was undefeatable.

"Long live your majesty." The voices of the ministers echoed throughout the hall as Gyan entered the hall with his usual black robes that had a dragon outline giving him look noble presence and aura that complimented his handsome face." Welcome his majesty," a eunuch announced as Gyan sat on his throne." Arise all."" Thank you your majesty," the ministers stood up joyfully. Gyan stared at the officials before him. Gyan's officials were both militant and scholars each were treated equally and without discrimination." My loyal ministers what do you have for me today?" Gyan asked calmly with a nonchalant expression on his face." Your majesty, the barbarians from Valla city have sent forth their envoys for a peaceful negotiation with us," one of the ministers, minister Tom reported with a slight bow." What is your take on this?" Gyan said as he stared at the officials before him. He did not even spare a glance at ministe Tom." Long live your majesty. Majesty, the barbarians are at a strategic location so if we can ally with them then it will be to our advantage. We can use this chance to strengthen our army and at the same time we will have a natural defence at the north so we are killing two birds with one stone," one of the ministers ,minister Jeff said. Gyan showed no reaction to this. Although Gyan might seem to be only twelve years old no one would dare to mistake him to be a kid as the officials knew better than to underestimate him. Since his mother's departure he has managed to keep the empire intact ever since his parents left. Moreover ever since they left he has managed to bring a period of peace in the empire and could be counted as the youngest emperor in the history of all empires in the mortal realm.

"Your majesty, the barbarians are known for their beastlike nature,I don't think it is a good idea to ally with such people. I think this is just a plot set up by them," another minister said." Since they want to ally with us then it is best for us to accept this alliance. We are already surrounded by many enemies and I don't feel like adding more enemies unless I am sure we can deal with them and although I can deal with the barbarians I don't want to waste precious time with dealing with such brutes so it is better to ally with them. What do you think of it,Duke of Chu," Gyan asked as he stared at an official who had his eyes closed while seated in a throne just beneath the emperor.

"Since your majesty has already made a decision then you don't need my opinion," the man replied with his eyes still closed." That's that then. Yesterday, someone tried to assassinate me. It seems someone is getting impatient and I won't mind getting rid of them. My patience is limited so I hope such situations should stop as my swordholder rarely has the time to sleep," Gyan said." You are all dismissed," Gyan said.

4 years later.....

Gyan has finally reached the fragmented realm with his qi cultivation while his body had also reached the fragmented realm.
