The Eight Empresses Betrayed Me, Only to Deeply Regret It After Being Reborn

Chapter 35:

Chapter 35: Feng Wuxie:

“Sky Centipede, I have no quarrel with you. Why are you so determined to kill me?”

Feng Wuxie, drenched in blood, roared in frustration.

He truly couldn’t understand. They were both part of the beast race, and this was the Ancient Battlefield of Prodigies. Why wasn’t the Sky Centipede targeting humans or demons? Why kill his own kind?

Was this some kind of sickness?

“Do I need a reason to kill you?”

“Weaklings are prey to the strong, survival of the fittest. If I had to explain every time I killed garbage like you, wouldn’t my entire life be wasted explaining?”

“Face me in a one-on-one fight if you dare!”

Fresh wounds appeared on Feng Wuxie’s body.

If it were a fair duel, he wouldn’t fear the Sky Centipede. With his noble phoenix bloodline, even if his cultivation was slightly weaker, he could still hold his ground!

“A one-on-one? Hahaha…”

“So, what? Should I tuck away my hundreds of legs just to make it ‘fair’ for you?” the Sky Centipede sneered.

Though Feng Wuxie’s regenerative abilities were exceptional, the relentless attacks left him increasingly battered.

At this rate, it was clear he couldn’t last much longer.

Other races wouldn’t step in to save him. They wouldn’t even hesitate to kick him while he was down.

Gritting his teeth, Feng Wuxie cursed internally.

Damn it!

This Sky Centipede was insane. When he grew stronger, he’d wipe out this disgusting species!

Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed ahead.

A new disturbance?

Feng Wuxie’s eyes caught a glimpse of a figure in red. As the figure drew closer, he was struck by her beauty.

What a stunning woman!

But as mesmerizing as she was, she was being chased by a horde of demonic cultivators. A black cloud of demonic energy surged behind her, intent on taking her life.

The two paths converged.

Yue Hongling spotted the boy who had haunted her dreams for countless lifetimes. His body was soaked in blood, but his bright eyes radiated resilience.

Her eyes reddened with emotion.

For far too long, Feng Wuxie had lived in her heart after his death.

Finally, she was seeing him again.

Without exchanging a single word, the two instinctively fled in the same direction.

The beasts and demons behind them grew wary of each other, for their races were not known for peaceful cooperation.

“We beasts have no intention of clashing with you demons. Shall we work together to kill these two?” the Sky Centipede shouted.

The demons relaxed slightly.

“Agreed!”

The beasts and demons, though uneasy allies, began their joint pursuit of Yue Hongling and Feng Wuxie.

“What did you do to provoke such a horde of demons?” Feng Wuxie asked, glancing at the human woman beside him. She was breathtaking.

“And what did you do to anger so many beasts?”

Feng Wuxie smirked. “I suspect these ugly creatures are jealous of my handsome face.”

Yue Hongling blinked, momentarily stunned.

It wasn’t that his words were wrong, but his confidence and self-praise reminded her so much of Lu Ye.

Lu Ye often boasted about his looks, claiming to have names like Lu Yanzu and Lu Panan.

She knew from Lu Ye’s stories that Yanzu and Panan were legendary handsome men from his homeland.

Seeing Yue Hongling’s dazed expression, even while running, Feng Wuxie couldn’t help but marvel.

Ah, his irresistible charm!

Such a beautiful human woman had fallen for him at first sight.

But this wasn’t the time for romance.

“Do you have a plan to shake them off?” Feng Wuxie asked.

“No.”

Yue Hongling snapped out of her reverie, feeling a pang of guilt.

How could she be thinking about Lu Ye while with Feng Wuxie?

Was she truly such a wretched woman? Thinking about one man while with another?

No!

Her heart had always belonged to Feng Wuxie.

Lu Ye’s presence in her life had simply been too long, too pervasive. He had etched himself into every corner of her existence, both physically and spiritually.

But this would fade with time.

“If we don’t find a way, we’re doomed. One pursuer is bad enough, but with two groups chasing us…”

“We won’t die. My senior brother will save us. When he arrives, this group will crumble like dry twigs.”

“Your senior brother is that strong?”

“Of course. My senior brother is unrivaled among his peers!”

“That’s fantastic! Where is he?”

“This way!”

They changed direction, deflecting the long-range attacks hurled their way.

“So… what’s your senior brother’s stance on beastkind? I mean, good beasts, ones that don’t eat humans and have no interest in doing so.”

“Don’t worry. My senior brother never kills the innocent!”

Yue Hongling’s gaze flitted to Feng Wuxie. In terms of appearance, he was flawless. Even in his disheveled state, there was an alluring fragility to him.

But the relentless attacks were slowing them down, and the gap between them and their pursuers was closing.

“We’re doomed!”

Feng Wuxie’s voice was filled with despair.

It seemed his end was near.

Suddenly, Yue Hongling’s hands formed seals, conjuring a spell that manifested as a long spear of energy above her head.

The spear hurtled toward the pursuing beasts and demons, piercing through one of them.

But the spell was slow to cast, and the sheer number of enemies made it ineffective.

“Single-target attacks won’t work. We need something that hits a wide area!” Feng Wuxie shouted.

“I don’t have any wide-range spells!”

Feng Wuxie gritted his teeth. “I do, but if I use it, you’ll need to carry me. I won’t have the strength to run.”

He didn’t fully trust Yue Hongling, but he had no other choice.

“Deal!”

A clear phoenix cry echoed as Feng Wuxie burned all his energy. A magnificent flaming phoenix materialized above him.

He was clearly pushing himself, and the strain left him weak.

“Go!”

The phoenix soared toward the horde of pursuers, leaving a blazing tail in its wake.

Yue Hongling grabbed Feng Wuxie by his clothing. She was about to sling him over her shoulder but stopped herself at the last moment.

“Boom!”

The flaming phoenix exploded, creating a rain of fire that momentarily halted their enemies.

The gap between them widened again.

A faint smile played on Yue Hongling’s lips.

The beasts and demons broke through the fiery rain and resumed their chase.

“Where is your senior brother?” Feng Wuxie asked weakly.

“Ah, um… I think I got lost.”

Feng Wuxie: ???
