The dragon's harem

Chapter 1326: Harbinger Of Destruction

The first thing that shocked the half-angel maid was that the one who showed first from Arad's void was a maid just like herself. What's more, the maid was human and a weak one at that. Too weak, in fact, that even the weakest half-angel would be at least ten times stronger than her in all aspects.

But the air around her felt heavier than anything else she had ever felt as if the world itself twisted as she moved. It took the half-angel a few seconds of just staring to notice why the weak maid felt so threatening. It was that Arad kept a close eye on her, standing at her side like a bomb that was about to explode in the face of anyone who dared give the maid a wrong look.

Someone else also showed up with the maid, hiding behind her wide skirt. A little girl who could barely get away from her mother. But just like her mother, something was off about the little girl. Her flowing brown hair seemed to glow, almost turning blond. Her golden eyes flashed with holy light, and her whole skin shined with divine magic.

A holy child, a kid bearing a divine bloodline, and not just any bloodline, the bloodline of Chad, the human god. Even at her tender age, the little girl held in her tiny body more divine magic than most clerics could dream of having. Even the half-angel maid only had a quarter of what little Serin had.

Then, another child showed up out of the void, and this one almost made both the half-angel maid and Lucifer shit themselves when they saw her. They couldn't mistake her even if they were dead. The pink hair and eyes, the cheerful smile, the harmless aura, and the curious gaze of a little animal.

While the maid didn't know what to do, Lucifer was already on one knee. "Divine Goddess Kali, what a surprise grace."

The half-angel was only terrified because she was almost blinded when she tried to peak into Kali's divine magic, but now that she heard the little girl's identity, that terror and fear only exploded, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Ah! Forget the formalities. You aren't beholden to the service of the gods as your ancestors once were. I'm just here enjoying the trip with my husband." She jumped up, barely landing on Arad's shoulder.

"Wa-wait. The demon Goddess of Destruction? Her? That doesn't match the scripts or murals at all." The half-angel maid crawled back, trying to get a bit away from Kali. She had never imagined that she would meet a god in her life, let alone one of the higher echelons like Destruction herself.

"I'm also the patron of orphans. This body is my form for that, a harmless one." Kali smiled, "Believe me, the last thing you want to happen is me showing up to your kingdom in my destruction form. That would mean you've drawn my ire so badly that I personally come to wipe you out." Kali giggled and leaned on Arad's head.

Arad looked at Kali, "You don't have angels?"

"I do, but my angels are all-powerful demons in the abyss. You know about the demon lords, right? Those can be called pseudo-angels. Once they grow far stronger, I usually call them Tanari, then Tanari lords, and then they become Harbingers of Destruction, my elite striking force. Most of them are deployed in the abomination war." She waved her foot, "But... Diana, can you hear me?"

Before anyone could notice, a woman with black hair and eyes was already kneeling in front of Arad, her eyes fixated on Kali. She looked perfectly human, but no one could mistake her for once. A horrifying mass of demonic magic swirled inside her, enough to drown the whole world.

"As you'd expect, the Harbingers of Destruction are always spread thin across the frontlines. Destruction is the most valuable resource in war, after all." Kali jumped down and landed in front of Diana.

"Job change. You're my nanny now, and also help Tina with Serin. Got any questions?"

Diana remained silent for a second and then spoke, "What about my post in the frontlines?"

"Got new Harbingers coming soon. They'll manage." Kali replied with a smile, "And besides, you're getting a promotion from just a soldier to one serving beside me. A safe job with a higher pay and many perks."

Diana stood, "One of those perks is getting on with your husband?"

"If you want to."

"Fine, I got it." Diana stood and took a deep breath. She then looked at Arad for a second, "Lord Arad, from today onward, I'll take care of Her divinity Kali when she is in her orphan form. Pleased to work under you."

Kali looked at Arad, "Got any objections?"

"No objections, but..." He shifted his gaze to Diana, "Can you tell me later about the war? How it's going, what are the abominations doing, and how they fight."

"That information is highly restricted, but I'll tell you when we have time." She then turned toward Kali, "Since I'm your babysitter now, I expect you to be at least a bit obedient."

Kali touched Diana with a large smile on her face. "You're IT! Catch me!" and then bolted away, prompting the newly assigned nanny to try to go after her.

Arad sighed and waved his hand, creating a void portal, and Mira walked out of it alongside Aella. The two looked around, and Mira was the first to speak.

"Is this place really all built from marbles and gems?" She gasped.

Lucifer in the back shook his head, trying to push the idea that Kali and a Harbinger of Destruction were running inside his castle. "The main frame is made from steel, and that is then covered with marble using earth magic, a potent one."

He then smiled, "I can give you some schematics if you want. You'll find more in the royal library if you want to read." He then looked at the still-stunned maid. "Call the others and find them a large room. Also, disable all of the security measures around that room. I'm sure Arad would prefer to use his magic instead of ours."

Arad looked at him, "Are you sure about that? The barriers around here are even more complex than what I saw in the Storm Titan kingdom. Recasting them afterward wouldn't be easy."

Lucifer shook his head, "The last thing I want is Her Divinity Kali or the Harbinger to spill some beans into my security system." The information about the war wasn't something that Lucifer wanted to be entangled with. He knew that there was a war, but like all mortals, the details were held back to avoid panic. Diana said that she would tell Arad about the war, and Lucifer knew that it was better not to listen.
