The Divine Throne of Shipgirls

Chapter 111: Chapter 111 – Abyssal Shock

Akagi didn't respond. Those black birds were flying at 3,500 km/h and at an altitude of 25,000 meters. The fact that Ryuujou hadn't lost them already was impressive enough.

Kaga tapped her now-empty sake flask. "So where do we go next? West? North? South?"

Taihou dipped her hand into the aquamarine sea and swirled it gently. "Definitely not west—there's no supply out that way."

Even Abyssal shipgirls required supply. They typically fed directly on the "ink" of the Ink Sea.

But with four million Abyssal shipgirls gathering in the East China Sea, the ink color within hundreds of kilometers around Okinawa had nearly faded—pushing the Ink Sea to its absolute limit.

Further west lay the Blue Sea zone—entering that would mean fighting without any logistical support. A move only a fool would make.

It was like warfare in ancient times. You often saw armies splitting into multiple divisions rather than deploying five hundred thousand or a million troops all at once. The limiting factor behind that was always supply.

Tens of thousands of soldiers passing through a region could completely collapse the local ecosystem, and it would take years to recover. The Abyssal army was no different in principle.

"Wiping out humanity has never been our goal. This is far enough for the East China Sea." Abyssal Akagi ran a hand through her hair lazily, but the words that left her mouth were chilling. "Split the forces. March south and north. Destroy the Southern Ocean Fleet and bomb Edo."

Taihou looked south thoughtfully. "Maybe we won't even need to make a move. Barbarossa might've already shattered the Southern Fleet. She's insane—always acting like no one else matters."

Kaga sneered. "She's just thick-skinned and durable. One-on-one, she's not as good as you."

This Taihou was one of the elite among her kind. With 450 durability and nearly 200 aircraft in her hangars, she could go toe-to-toe with Abyssal Barbarossa without being outmatched.

"Why would I ever fight her solo? I'm not like her—I'm not stupid."

Taihou grinned as she dissed Barbarossa, but then her expression suddenly changed. She turned her gaze southward.

She opened her palm, and a spectral tombstone appeared in midair.

The tombstone shattered—and from the fragments, a black eagle burst forth with a piercing screech.

Taihou tilted her head, listening. Her frown deepened.

Akagi recognized it. "That's X.Fliegerkorps… something happened in the south?"

Even if reinforcements came from other continents, they should've supported the more critical East China Sea front first. There was no logical reason for trouble to occur down south.

Taihou crushed the spectral vision in her hand and, after a moment of contemplation, said calmly: "Barbarossa has sunk."

Crack!

Startled, Kaga crushed her sake flask in her hand. But she didn't have time to mourn it—she blurted out, "How is that possible!?"

"You'll find it even more impossible once you hear the details," Taihou said. "One Tirpitz—just one—tanked Barbarossa's elite escort, fought while surrounded by hundreds of thousands of enemy units, and still beat all of them without so much as a scratch."

Akagi's eyes went wide. "Are you writing fiction?"

"X.Fliegerkorps wouldn't lie about something like this. She fought alongside Barbarossa, remember?"

Her aircraft capacity was 400, more than any shipgirl aircraft carrier, but Airfield Princesses had terrible speed and evasion, so they were generally stationed deep in the Abyssal core zones as defense forces.

X.Fliegerkorps had been assigned as Barbarossa's rear support. According to the plan, after the occupation of Qiongzhou Island, she was supposed to land and set up a new Abyssal base.

Kaga began picking up the fragments of her shattered flask. "I've never heard of anything like this. Could it be she was tricked by an illusion?"

But even she didn't believe her own words. A fully maxed-out Airfield Princess, bunkered in a core base, falling for an illusion?

Honestly though, compared to one Tirpitz defeating hundreds of thousands alone, it still sounded more plausible.

Akagi licked her lips. "It's been years since we met such an interesting shipgirl. Why don't we go challenge her ourselves?"

This time it was Taihou's turn to scold her. "Don't forget our mission!"

Akagi clicked her tongue, clearly annoyed. She narrowed her eyes and muttered, "Then how about a surprise attack on Shanghai or Beijing?"

Taihou thought for a moment—then shook her head.
