The Daily Life of the Demon King

Chapter 393: The Start of Vacation and Arrival in Another World in Search of Delicious Food."

While the girls were packing their things for the long journey ahead — one that was supposed to last an entire week — Alex was entertaining his daughters: Anya, Nyaruko, and Jinx. The little ones eagerly awaited the start of the adventure with their beloved dad and moms.

Alisa, Nobukatsu, Göll, and Valeri were the first to come downstairs — they had packed light. However, Alex immediately noticed Valeri's bag. Knowing his younger sister well, he suspected she might have slipped something inside… not exactly appropriate for a family vacation. Valeri caught his look and quickly hid the bag behind her back, which only confirmed his suspicions.

Alex gently lifted Jinx off his lap, stood up from the couch, and calmly walked over to his sister.

"Vi, let's do this the easy way. Show me what's in the bag. Don't make me do it myself," he said with a soft, almost good-natured smile.

"Big brother, I have no idea what you're talking about. It's just my stuff… and underwear. You're not seriously planning on going through your little sister's underwear, are you?" Valeri asked with feigned innocence.

Laughter from Alisa and Nobukatsu echoed in the background. Valeri shot them a sharp older-sister glare, which only made them giggle more. Alex cleared his throat slightly, bringing Valeri's attention back, and pointed at the bag with his eyes.

Valeri tried to hold her brother's calm and steady gaze, but her confidence faded with each second.

"Fine, take a look..." she muttered sulkily and set the bag down on the coffee table.

"That's better. Or did you really think you're grown enough to pull one over on me? Grow up first, little rascal," Alex said gently, ruffling her hair.

He opened the bag and, just as expected, found more than just clothes. With a sigh, Alex began pulling out the contents: a pair of pistols, several grenades — shock, EMP, incendiary. His expression turned blank, as if mentally asking: what exactly was she planning to blow up during a family vacation?

Valeri just whistled innocently, hands clasped behind her head.

"A shotgun…" Alex mumbled, pulling out yet another item. "…and a compact launcher. Vi, were you going on vacation or into battle?"

"I'll give everything back to you when the vacation's over," Alex said calmly, stashing the weapons into his inventory.

"You're so boring! What if we needed it? Like, if some idiot tries to ruin our trip?"

Alex gave her a small smirk. He knew all too well that with his luck, this vacation likely wouldn't go off without a hitch. But if someone really did try to ruin it — that idiot would end up in orbit, shining like a star. Literally.

"Ah, and I almost forgot about you two. Empty your pockets," Alex said, glancing at Alisa and Nobukatsu.

"We don't have anything," they replied in unison, all innocence.

"Yeah, right. Empty them. Göll, you don't need to — I know you're clean," he said, patting her head.

"Mhm, big brother. I just want our vacation to be peaceful. You've been waiting for this," Göll said with a bright smile.

"Good girl. I'm proud of you. As for you two — everything from your pockets. On the table."

Alisa and Nobukatsu immediately stopped laughing. Valeri smirked knowingly, realizing her siblings probably had something interesting stashed too.

There was no point resisting — Alisa placed a set of shuriken and kunai on the table, while Nobukatsu reluctantly pulled out a pair of brass knuckles. He had been trying more and more to imitate Alex lately, even adopting his fighting style.

"Much better," said Alex, storing the weapons in his inventory.

Just then, Lucina entered the living room with a travel bag slung over her shoulder.

"What's going on here?" she asked, raising a brow.

Even though Lucina, like the rest of the girls, had her own spatial inventory embedded in her ring, they had collectively decided: if they were going on vacation, they'd do it by the book, to fully enjoy the experience.

Alex looked at Lucina with interest and was pleasantly surprised by how stunning she looked in modern clothes. Even back when he lived in Night City, he had always admired her sense of style. And now, her casual yet fashionable outfit made her even more charming. She wore tight denim shorts, a loose white T-shirt, and a light, short jacket. Noticing the way Alex was looking at her, Lucina walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling.

"I know you love me," she said with a soft smile. "But maybe you could stop freezing up every time you see me? Anyway, what was all that noise about?"

"Nothing major," Alex sighed, glancing off to the side. "Just had to confiscate some dangerous stuff from Vi, Nobukatsu, and Alisa. Honestly felt like they were prepping to rob a millionaire, not go on a family trip."

The trio guiltily looked away, trying to act as if it had nothing to do with them. Lucina couldn't hold back her laughter — the vacation hadn't even started yet, and things were already entertaining.

Alex took Lucina's hand and led her to the couch, where he helped her sit while they waited for the others. Anya immediately settled onto her lap, while Nyaruko and Jinx climbed back onto Alex's knees. Gradually, the rest of the girls began coming downstairs — some with backpacks, others with suitcases. Alex looked them over and was surprised to see that, surprisingly, none of them had packed half the house. Still, he didn't dwell on it too long — something else caught his attention.

The girls who had lived their whole lives in this world were now wearing modern clothing. And they looked amazing.

Freya wore slim-fit jeans and a tucked-in white blouse, her hair tied in a high ponytail. Loki stayed true to herself — short denim shorts and a simple T-shirt. Hephaestus had on fitted jeans that highlighted her figure, along with her usual white shirt — standing next to Gloria, they looked like sisters. Hestia chose a light white dress and a straw hat, giving her an even more innocent appearance.

Ryuu wore a green knee-length skirt, a white T-shirt, and a light green cardigan. Lili, Haruhime, Daphne, Cassandra, and Bella all stuck to their usual styles — just adapted for the modern world. Even the Valkyries had traded their traditional outfits for something more practical for travel.

But Alex's gaze landed on one particular figure — a pale-skinned girl in a black tracksuit with a high collar and a ponytail tied at the top of her head. It was the goddess Nyx.

"Didn't expect you to crawl out of your lair, Nyx," Alex said in surprise.

"I heard you were leaving. Something about food from another world…" she muttered lazily, hands in her pockets. "No way I'm staying in this giant house alone."

"Just admit you want to come with us," Freya said calmly, looking at her. "All that talk about food is just an excuse. You don't want to be left alone."

Nyx gave her a blank look, as if she hadn't heard, but didn't argue either. The truth was, she'd long gotten used to the presence of others in the house. Even if she rarely left her room, being completely alone didn't appeal to her. Alex didn't mind her coming along — even though she'd ended up in their home by accident, he now considered the lazy goddess part of their strange but warm family.

The living room was nearly full now, with the girls sitting wherever they found space. Patience was starting to wear thin. Alex remained calmly seated, still waiting for the final participants to show up — Aria, Ais, Riveria, and Tiona, who were also supposed to join them.

He turned his gaze to GIR, MIMI, and Stitch — they looked like true tourists. GIR and Stitch wore beach shorts, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, hats, and cameras hanging from their necks. Backpacks were slung over their shoulders. MIMI wore a pink floral dress with the same accessories as her companions.

Just as the girls began to lose patience, the front door burst open. Standing at the entrance were Riveria, Ais, Tiona, and Aria — bags in hand.

"Finally! Everyone's here!" Loki exclaimed, leaping toward Alex and tugging on his arm. "That's it, enough wasting daylight! I'm tired of waiting — I want to try food from another world! I didn't even finish my breakfast because of you! Get up and open the portal. NOW!"

The girls all nodded in agreement after Loki's words. Riveria, Tiona, Ais, and Aria looked a bit guilty — they had taken longer because they were packing for the trip. They had no idea where Alex was planning to take them, so they brought everything just in case.

Meanwhile, the rest of the girls could no longer wait and started dragging Alex off the couch. Or more accurately, Loki and Hestia joined forces to pull him to his feet. Chuckling, Alex let them, and followed everyone into the spacious hall to open the portal.

However, there was one last thing to take care of before the journey began. Alex stood in front of everyone and waited for the girls to stop chatting and expressing their frustration over what they thought was him wasting time.

"Ladies, your attention, please. Let's start with the basic rules of our vacation. First: goddesses — no divine powers and no interfering with mortals. Second: no killing, blowing things up, or maiming anyone unless absolutely necessary. If a guy starts bothering you — just tell him to buzz off, or kindly suggest he crawl back to wherever he came from. If he doesn't understand 'no' — the standard protocol applies: groin kick, taser, pepper spray to the eyes. I think that's clear."

"We're not that wild that you have to remind us of this," Revy muttered, rolling her eyes.

"Just a precaution," Alex said with a smile. "Now for those who grew up in this world. If you have any questions, ask me or the girls who are familiar with modern society. As I always say..."

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do," the girls finished in chorus, rolling their eyes again.

"Exactly. And finally — Riveria, Ryuu, Haruhime, Thrúd, and Alcina. You'll need to adjust your appearance — you stand out too much. Sure, people might think you're cosplayers, but let's not take chances. Especially with Alcina's height... although, I actually like it," he added with a wink.

"Get on with it, husband," Alcina said, holding a smoking cigarette holder between her fingers.

Alex nodded and used magic to change their appearances. Riveria's and Ryuu's ears became normal, and Haruhime's fox ears and tail disappeared, leaving her a bit confused. The biggest changes were for Alcina and Thrúd — their height was reduced to match Alex and Kiwi. Alcina felt an unfamiliar lightness — she no longer had to look down while speaking to others. Thrúd looked a bit puzzled too: she used to be the tallest among her sisters, and now she was about the same height as Göndul.

Still, her biker outfit gave her the same intimidating look — as if she was ready to break someone's jaw at any moment.

"Alright, everything's set — time to move out," Alex said with a smile.

"Finally! I thought you'd go on lecturing us for another hour about what we can and can't do. We're grown women, you know," Koko said, looking exasperated. The others nodded in agreement.

Alex just shook his head. But before he could summon Yamato, Anya, Jinx, and Nyaruko immediately clambered onto him, hanging off him like a bunch of grapes. Laughing at his daughters' impatience, Alex unsheathed Yamato and opened a portal with two swift slashes.

He was the first to step through, carrying the trio of little "riders" with him. GIR, MIMI, and Stitch rushed in right after him — they could barely wait to get going. The rest of the girls followed without delay.

They emerged into an alleyway in a bustling city. Alex quickly cast a concealment spell so no one would notice the sudden appearance of such a large group. Those who were in another world for the first time looked around with curiosity, trying to take in as many details as possible.

Alex waited until everyone had stepped out, then finally spoke:

"Why is it always an alleyway? Couldn't you have opened the portal somewhere normal?" Becca asked with an eye-roll.

"Sorry, my love. Of course, I should've opened a portal in the middle of the city center so that passersby could have heart attacks en masse and the local army could swarm us," Alex replied with the exact same expression.

While Alex and Becca were arguing about his choice of portal location, the other girls looked around, trying to figure out where they were. They spotted signs on passing cars and store names. Some began to guess which country they were in — the only question left was which city.

"Alex, you brought us to Japan again? Wasn't last time bad enough?" Rei asked, giving him a tired look.

"To be precise, we're in Tokyo. The license plates say Tokyo," Mari added, giving Alex a suspicious glance. "So, why here again? Last time we were in Tokyo, we had to fight off a zombie horde. That was… not a pleasant adventure."

"We're here for a reason. I told you — first, breakfast. And in this world, in Tokyo, there's a rather interesting school where you can try some insanely delicious food. There's a school festival going on right now. And that means one thing: a flavor celebration awaits us," Alex explained calmly.

"Wait… a school? That's a place for kids. What does that have to do with breakfast?" Ryuu frowned, clearly trying to make sense of what was happening.

"I think I get what Alex is talking about!" Shizuka clapped her hands. "I saw a manga a student was reading back when I was a school nurse. The plot was about a culinary academy where students compete in cooking."

"Wait, is that the manga you told us about? The one where people's clothes fly off after eating something tasty and they end up sitting there naked?" Rika asked suspiciously, looking at Shizuka.

Shizuka nodded energetically, confirming her friend's guess. The girls exchanged glances, then looked at Alex. Their eyes all said the same thing: "Did you seriously bring us to a world like that?"

Alex rolled his eyes in response, clearly saying: "That's nonsense. That's not going to happen." His look made it obvious that no one was going to lose their clothes just because they had a good meal. Despite their skepticism, the girls decided to question Shizuka further — she seemed to be the only one even slightly familiar with this absurd world.

While everyone was deep in conversation, Alex silently fiddled with his phone, organizing something. During that time, he discreetly created a clone, which exchanged a brief glance with him before a glowing magic circle lit up beneath it — and the clone vanished.

Anya, Nyaruko, and Jinx — still hanging on Alex — immediately began tugging at his cheeks and clothes, demanding to know what was going on. Alex simply pressed a finger to his lips, signaling that it was a secret for now. The girls nodded knowingly — they knew a surprise was coming.

Besides that, Alex had to keep the trio of adventurers — GIR, MIMI, and Stitch — under control. They were already itching to break free, drawn by the phrase "delicious food." If it weren't for their leashes, they would have already run off looking for new trouble and culinary delights.

At that moment, footsteps echoed in the alley. The girls stopped talking and saw Alex's clone strolling back lazily. They glanced at the original Alex, then back at the clone, trying to figure out what had happened during that time.

"Did you get everything done?" Alex asked.

"Everything was done perfectly. But next time, don't ask me to time travel. That idiot didn't like it," the clone replied with a gloomy look, throwing a glance at his original.

Alex raised an eyebrow in surprise — it was apparently the god of time. Seems the god had tried to interfere and paid the price for it. Alex just shrugged: either way, his collection had gained another "argument."

The clone shrugged again and vanished in a cloud of white smoke.

"Wait," Freya interrupted. "Why did your clone have to time travel?"

"I think I don't need to explain how popular the Totsuki Academy and its festival are. Tickets sell out instantly. So I had to cheat a little to get enough," Alex answered with an innocent look.

"Alright. And who's that 'idiot' he was talking about?" Hestia crossed her arms.

"The god of time. He decided he could stand in my way. The clone… well, let's just say he convinced him not to interfere. But it doesn't matter now. I'll say this: any idiot who tries to stop me from spending my vacation with you girls will instantly get a ticket… either to a black hole or straight to the Red City," Alex said, his eyes flashing with irritation.

The girls even felt a little sorry for that unlucky god of time who dared to mess with Alex's plans. But the pity quickly faded — their attention was fully captured by the upcoming school festival where they could try all sorts of tasty treats.

Only Valery, Alisa, and Nobukatsu looked at Alex with fanatical admiration — after all, he had killed the god of time. And not even personally, but through his clone.

Seeing that the others didn't care at all about this "minor" fact, Alex just shrugged. He took the three little princesses — Anya, Nyaruko, and Jinx — off himself and carefully set them down. Then he lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and headed for the alley exit.

As soon as he stepped out, a tall mountain came into view, crowned by the towering Totsuki Academy. The girls following him saw the academy too, and especially those who were in another world for the first time started whispering to each other in amazement:

"I don't want to ruin the mood, but is this normal? A school for kids—and it takes up an entire mountain? How do they even get there?" Aria asked, unable to hold back.

"I'm wondering the same thing. But what interests me more is how many kids get lost on the way to this academy," Nyx added lazily, hands in pockets.

"Places like that usually have dormitories," Saya explained, adjusting her glasses. "Students study and live right at the school. Even at our old school, it was the same."

The girls from Orario immediately surrounded Saya, bombarding her with questions about a world where schools are entire cities. While Saya explained how modern academies are organized, the large group was already approaching the main entrance.

With every step, their desire to try the local food grew stronger — both Alex and Shizuka had promised that the cuisine at Totsuki Academy was top-notch. Ryu and Syr were even planning to jot down a couple of recipes to later surprise the owner of the tavern, "The Mistress of Fertility."

As the group of girls led by Alex walked through the streets, they attracted quite a bit of attention from passersby. Their attractiveness, especially that of the goddesses, was immediately noticeable. And Freya, as usual, stood out the most — it wasn't for nothing that she was considered the most beautiful goddess.

But Freya didn't care about the admiring looks — her dream had come true: she had finally left Orario and was walking beside the man she loved with all her heart. Freya and Göndul held Alex's arms, looking like true twin sisters.

"Damn it, Freya, do something about your face already. I'm sick of these stares," Loki grumbled, shooting irritated looks at everyone.

"It's not my fault I'm this beautiful. Mortals can only look and envy," Freya replied coolly without even glancing at those around her.

"Such narcissism... Although, what else would you expect from the goddess of beauty?" Ada snickered.

"You're right, sis. Being the goddess of beauty is not only a blessing but also a constant inconvenience. All these stares, for example... But I'm sure my husband can handle it," Freya added with a light laugh, covering her lips with her hand.

Hearing her words, Alex nodded and shot a cold glare at the men who were staring a little too openly at his companions. The men immediately flinched and lowered their heads as if on cue.

The female passersby also didn't go unnoticed: Freya and Göndul responded to the admiring looks from the women with icy gazes, empty as black holes. That was enough — everyone looked away, breaking out in a cold sweat.

The other girls couldn't help but shake their heads watching this. But in the end, they all came to the same conclusion: Alex, Freya, and Göndul had just solved a small but pesky problem.

Reaching the academy gates, Alex took out his phone again, quickly typed something, and immediately the girls' phones chimed with incoming messages.

"Did you send us a map of the academy? Do you think we might get lost?" Chikita asked with a smirk.

"Not quite. Ladies, I know this is a family trip. But as a caring husband, I also understand that you need space to spend time with your friends. So there's no need to stick together all the time — split into groups, explore, have fun. After all, that's what we came here for," Alex said with a kind smile.

"I'd say you just want a break from all this crowd," Claire smirked, slipping her phone into her pocket. "But you can't argue with logic. This way, we'll get to what we want to try faster."

The other girls were also fine with the idea of splitting into groups and almost immediately did so. Girls of roughly the same age — like Nobuna, Nagahide, Katsuie, Lily, Haruhime, Bella, Daphne, Cassandra, Rei, Saeko, Saya, Miu, Renka, Syr, Tiona, Ais, Zero Two, and Lucy — formed one group.

Namiyo, Kiriko, Gloria, Hephaestus, and Aria gathered into another group. The Valkyries quickly organized their own separate team, except for Göndul, who unexpectedly joined Freya. The food lovers — Becca, Loki, Hestia, Moira, Rika, Shizuka, Revy, Beatrix, Juri, Shigure, and Rory — also formed a gastronomic squad.

Alcina and Yuriko joined Göndul and Freya. Another group was formed by Chikita, Valmet, Cammy, Chun-Li, Coco, Ada, Shino, Mari, Jill, Claire, Lucina, Kiwi, Ryu, Riveria, Nyx, Rekka, and Sherry. Alex barely had time to react before the girls instantly organized themselves and rushed to storm Totsuki Academy in search of delicious food.

Anya, Nyaruko, and Jinx had already started celebrating a small victory — all their "mommies" had left, which meant it was time to spend with daddy! But their joy was short-lived. Of course, the girls had no intention of leaving the kids with Alex alone, fully aware that he could drag them into some dubious adventure.

(Guys, if I accidentally forgot any girl, please remind me. My headache doesn't help me remember, and my trouble with names has been driving me crazy since childhood. If I didn't forget anyone, good job; if I did, I apologize.)

"Nooo! Let me go, Mama Valmet! I want to go with Daddy!" Nyaruko shouted, wriggling in Valmet's arms.

"I want to walk with Daddy too! Mom, let me go!" Jinx chimed in, trying to break free from Becca's grip.

"And I want to go with Daddy!" added Anya, struggling unsuccessfully against Gloria.

The women exchanged tired glances, realizing that such scenes would likely repeat many times, especially as the number of kids in the house grew. They were already sure — no matter how close the children were to their mothers, they would want to spend more time with their father.

Alex was already thinking about taking Anya, Nyaruko, and Jinx away from the girls, but they didn't give him the slightest chance. After quickly kissing him on the cheek, the girls set off to explore the festival, leaving Alex "alone."

Almost alone — his three faithful companions remained: G.I.R., MIMI, and Stitch, who were already busy photographing every corner of the academy.

"So now it's the four of us. As usual," Alex said, lighting a cigarette.

"As usual," Stitch repeated, lowering his camera after taking a picture of Alex against the academy gates.

"And now — for delicious food!" G.I.R. exclaimed, raising his paw.

"YES!" Alex, MIMI, and Stitch answered in unison, raising their fists in the air.

Finishing his cigarette, Alex tossed the butt into a trash can and, accompanied by his three companions, walked through the academy gates. He hoped everything would go smoothly: no buildings would explode, nothing would burn to the ground, and, overall, there would be no global catastrophe.

Alex relied on the part of the girls who might be able to restrain those prone to radical measures like beating up chefs for bad food or shooting in response to rude comments. He walked slowly, enjoying the atmosphere and the lack of need to rush — finally, a well-deserved rest.
