The D-Rank Guild Master of the No. 1 Guild

Chapter 65

Slaughterer Guild?

Oh, it’s one of the two guilds with their guild leaders participating, aside from us. I remember thinking how grim the name sounded. And it seems to live up to its name perfectly, not even a bit exaggerated.

“Rudel, what do we do?”

Gio recognized the danger posed by the blood-soaked disc. He looked at me as we ran.

“We fight.”

We can’t wait for someone else to come along and take down that character. How many viewers are watching us right now?

The other players there are just ordinary guild members, so it’s fine if they’re intimidated by another guild’s leader. But Gio and I can’t afford to be, and we won’t.

Whoosh!

As Gio extended his hand while running, the sand bridge connected to the disc.

The moment the bridge formed, the girl’s eyes shot up.

The Slaughterer Guild leader, Yudirei, spun the axe in her hand. The handle landed perfectly in her small hand, gleaming ominously.

“I’ve been waiting.”

“…!”

It was as if she already knew about me; the girl looked straight at me.

Her voice was innocent, but hearing it directly sent chills down my spine due to the madness it contained.

“Agasa Guild leader, Rudel.”

Yudirei’s lazy nod directed her gaze to Gio beside me.

“And that’s your guild member?”

Yudirei’s eyes took in the sight of the imposing Gio.

I pointed to the blood-soaked scene on the yellow disc as I spoke.

“If you drop them off the edge, they’ll be eliminated painlessly. Why did you bother to slice them up?”

Yudirei’s hair fluttered lightly. She had irises that were the closest to the color of blood I had ever seen.

“Because it’s fun.”

A droplet of blood fell from the tilted axe blade.

“You know what? The ones who preached to me like you just had their tongues cut out. Do you want to be next?”

The blood-stained axe blade was now pointed at me.

Yudirei, with one eye closed, seemed to enjoy the anticipation of slashing me from a distance with her axe.

But I remained still, carefully watching her, without making any preparations to defend myself.

For now, Gio and I were still outside the disc, keeping a significant distance from her. I also doubted she would throw her axe immediately.

Gathering information on an unfamiliar guild leader was crucial for me, even if it meant losing an arm in the process.

I quickly used the status window cheat.

[Name] Yudirei / [Level] 65

* * *

[Health • Strength • Agility Average] A

[Ability Category] Pure Nature

[Unique Ability] Gravity

[Overall Rating] A+

*[Output] A+

*[Precision] A+

*[Resistance] A+

This was the highest level character I had encountered so far. Her overall stats were fitting for a guild leader, but thankfully, her individual stats were still behind Gio’s.

But her ability was gravity?

Even during this brief standoff with Yudirei, I continued to scrutinize her status window for more details. While Kanel had informed us about her identity through the communication link, the watchtower couldn’t reveal her ‘past actions.’

Even using the cheat to access the status window, I couldn’t get information about her activities in the previous round. I could only check her awakening dialogue from the first round:

[“I feel truly alive when I witness something take its last breath.”]

Now I understood. Yudirei was a slaughter-obsessed character, engrossed in blood and combat. Her innocent, cute appearance only made the realization more chilling.

“I’ve been looking forward to this. I imagined you while hacking at chunks of meat topped with skulls every day.”

…I had never seen Gio so tense. The girl before us exuded a murderous aura that was second to none.

“The meat bags before you were boring. You better be fun.”

She giggled, like a child excited with a new toy. But the toy she was excited about was our lives, which she planned to play with until we met a messy end.

When I signaled to Gio, his expression tightened, ready to charge at Yudirei.

The tiny reaper pulled back her axe and started her dash toward us.

At that moment, I thought, ‘Will the viewers think badly of us for fighting two against one? Will they react indifferently even if we beat Yudirei this way?’

Then again, Yudirei had practically invited us to attack her together, so maybe they’d see it as fair play?

“Gio, this might sound absurd,” I said, giving Gio one last piece of advice before the fight.

“While we’re fighting, could you think of me as Lilith?”

Honestly, my chances of physically evading the reaper before us were zero. But could Gio protect me while also matching Yudirei in battle?

Had my countless explanations of ‘defensive fighting’ through the Three Kingdoms sunk in at all?

Whoosh!

There was no time to ponder the answer as Yudirei’s axe, filled with murderous intent, came flying at us.

As expected, Yudirei’s axe was aimed directly at me, targeting the guild leader.

Clang!

Instead of my arm being sliced off, a sword appeared before me, blocking the attack. Gio had intercepted the sudden, blinding attack with his sword.

Screech.

As Gio’s sword clashed with the axe, metal scraping against metal, I extended my hand, unleashing a wave of searing heat. Flames intertwined between the sword and the axe.

It was the girl who was being pushed back by the combined strength of the two of us.

Yudirei retreated with two quick hops, her small face tilting to the side, her eyes glinting with a crazed look as she seemed to find something even more thrilling.

With a rare opening created, Gio, who had just protected my life, spoke confidently.

“I can’t think of you as Lilith. Lilith is a hundred times prettier than you.”

That jerk.

The sand at Gio’s feet began to climb up and around the disc, quickly filling it and erasing all traces of the blood that had reeked so strongly.

Without a hint of triumph, our guild member looked resolute, his mouth firmly set.

Yudirei seemed to talk less during battles. She merely dodged the sand trying to encase her, smirking all the while.

When Yudirei’s blood-red gaze shifted from me to Gio, I instinctively knew she was about to use her unique ability.

“Gio, don’t be surprised-!”

[Unique Ability] Gravity

“…!”

Gio and I were lifted off the ground, losing our footing as we were thrust into a zero-gravity state.

Gio flailed wildly, spinning mid-air. His face showed his shock as he rotated 360 degrees.

If I had informed Gio about this ability beforehand, would he have reacted more calmly? But revealing my cheat abilities was out of the question.

“Put strength into your sword!”

Clang!

Once again, Gio’s sword intercepted Yudirei’s axe.

But unlike before, Gio couldn’t exert his strength while floating. Yudirei’s pressure forced him back, spinning several meters in the air.

Yudirei, still under normal gravity, leapt after him.

As she was about to grab the far-flung Gio, her sinister smile grew wider, and she yanked him back with startling strength.

“Ugh…!”

Clang, clang, clang, clang!

Their weapons clashed multiple times. Even in a state where he couldn’t control his body, Gio somehow managed to block all her attacks. Still, his combat uniform was torn, and blood droplets sprayed into the air.

Whoosh!

While spewing fire to disrupt Yudirei, I didn’t stop thinking. My mind was racing desperately.

How could Yudirei make only Gio weightless while remaining unaffected herself? What was the basis for her ability? Was it person-based? Did she only nullify the gravity for Gio and me?

No, it can’t be person-based. The grains of sand Gio brought up are also floating!

Realizing this, I took a closer look at the disc we were standing on.

Then it hit me. Some areas of the sand Gio spread across the disc were floating, while others remained grounded.

I get it. Yudirei’s gravity is coordinate-based!

Yudirei must have set specific coordinates to be weightless, excluding only the path she intended to move through.

I flailed my arms and legs as if swimming underwater, managing to land on a spot with normal gravity. I quickly stood up and ran along the path where the sand was settled on the ground.

“……!”

Yudirei turned sharply to look at me at that moment. This brief distraction provided Gio with a perfect opening.

Schwick-!

With a firm stance, Gio drew the grains of sand into his left hand. In an instant, they transformed into a pointed rod.

Gio launched it directly through the air.

The sand spear, propelled by Gio’s gravity, produced a tremendous whooshing sound.

In a blink, with the fierce wind behind it, the spear streaked towards Yudirei’s shoulder.

“Ugh!”

Yudirei’s incredible reflexes allowed her to dodge, but even so, the spear grazed her shoulder, sending a spray of blood.
