The curse of Heavengate

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The Mariana world.

Aaron sat in his throne room with the ministers of affairs of his kingdom. His royal secretary and other experts had also joined them for discussing the month's updates of his kingdom.

He listened to each and everyone of them. Their suggestions, their monthly records, their future prospects and then according to their work, Aaron praised them or condemned them. He agreed to the benefits and disagreed to the faults.

However, in between all this, there was an image that pounced continously from time to time in his mind. If her tried to shove it away, the image reappeared whenever he closed his eyes.

Even when he blinked, he could see the nervous big brown eyes of Miss Mariana looking at him from the closest distance.

How beautiful she looked standing in frint of him. A bit nervous, a bit stable and very pretty.

He could still feel her soft touch over his wrist, his nape and also his chest, even though his damn shirt had hindered the skin contact. He could still smell the scent of her. The intoxicating whiff of roses. When Miss Mariana was taking his measurements, Aaron had kept inhaling it, grateful to the nature for providing him with the olfactory senses.

Then and now, Aaron's hands itched to touch her smooth skin. The pale skin which, in his proximity, turned deliciously pink. Aaron had felt a sense of victory that he made that reaction take place on her.

His little saviour was a very alluring beauty.

A thought sprang in his mind. When she would make a suit for him, perhaps he would reject it, complaining that it didn't fit. That would make her measure him again. But that would be unfair. To her, yes. But also to him.

The moment he saw her began to bend to measure his lower body, it was the edge of his limit. How could he had seen her in that position and didn't do anything scandalous. His mind was a volcano erupting with dangerous, firey thoughts. Never had he felt such a strong reaction to a woman who was little more than a stranger to him.

Apparently, his little saviour couldn't save him from thinking improper thoughts about her.

A side of his mouth pulled up wondering what she would do if she was aware of the things going on in his mind for her. Surely then, she would never again come that close to him. Even as she was leaving his parlor, Aaron had glanced her back until it disappeared.

It was Aaron's plan to tease her. To make her nervous to be near him. But how wonderfully it backfired, making him the victim of sensual torture.

A sigh left his lips. Diverting himself from The Mariana world, Aaron tried to listen to one of his ministers who was babbling about the thoughtful work he had done that week, hinting Aaron- very poorly- to reward him.

As he was listening him, Aaron's eyes met Jasper's. His red haired friend sat on the third chair to his left with a wide grin on his face looking at Aaron. Wriggling his eyebrows, Jasper did a subtle gesture of sewing with his hands. That bastard was teasing Aaron.

Just then, Aaron realised that he was smiling, thinking about his little saviour. Wiping off the smirk, Aaron straightened in his chair and cleared his throat.

"It is a good work you did, Mr. Shaw", Aaron said to his babbling minister. "I would like you to make the similar report about the east side of the town as well. Jasper will help you with it".

The grin on Jasper's face immediately disappeared as he curled his mouth and widened his eyes. His friend hated working with Mr. Shaw. That would teach the bastard about teasing Aaron.

"Of course, Your Majesty", Mr. Shaw said before sitting back down with an unsatisfied smile for his king hadn't rewarded him.

As everyone had shared their fair share of information, Aaron stood up and placed his hands in his trouser pockets. The ministers stood up too.

"Alright, ministers. See to it that the work you are assigned is done till next week. The meeting is adjourned". With a nod, Aaron walked out of the throne room. As he left the room, he met Charles who was waiting for him in the corridor.

Seeing Aaron, Charles bowed his head. "Mr. Jasper said you wanted to meet me, Your Majesty".

Aaron nodded at him solemnly. "We

haven't practiced fencing together, recently", Aaron said in a sharp voice.

Hearing him, Charles raised his head and his brows pinched together. "We haven't, Your Majesty".

"Shall we give it a hand?"
