Chapter 63. The Miracle Repeats
“Shall we go to the private room for the needles then?” Elder Ling confirmed once more.
The Iron-Eating Beast glanced at Yun Jin and nodded reluctantly.
Elder Ling looked at Yun Jin in amazement.
This girl had truly sensed the Iron-Eating Beast’s inner thoughts?
This was simply…!
This was simply an Innate Beast-Taming genius!
With many tasks at hand, Elder Ling had no time to inquire further, but his gaze towards Yun Jin had completely changed.
Once he finished tending to these spirit beasts, he would definitely have to ask how Yun Jin managed this feat.
In the private room, the Iron-Eating Beast became very cooperative.
Elder Ling’s healing needle technique was exquisite. Soon, he had the internal injuries under control. The little Iron-Eating Beast nuzzled against Elder Ling contentedly, wearing an expression of pure bliss.
Elder Ling’s gaze softened as he gently patted its head. “There, go rest well now.”
The Iron-Eating Beast nodded obediently.
Having watched the entire process, Yun Jin’s admiration for Elder Ling grew even deeper.
He had truly dedicated his life to these spirit beasts. Every beast here regarded him as family, utterly dependent on him. For this old man, this was probably the greatest reward.
“Wait for me a bit longer. I have other spirit beasts to treat,” Elder Ling said apologetically after settling the Iron-Eating Beast. “If you can’t wait, you can come back tomorrow. I’ll be waiting for you all day.”
“Elder Ling,” Yun Jin volunteered, “I seem to vaguely sense some of the spirit beasts’ emotions. Perhaps I can be of some help. Please allow me to accompany you.”
Elder Ling’s gaze flickered.
If Yun Jin had said this from the start, Elder Ling wouldn’t have believed a word.
After all, the talent for communicating with spirit beasts was extremely rare. Even with such a gift, it required constant refinement and strengthening to truly communicate with spirit beasts.
Yun Jin, a new disciple, had no way to interact with spirit beasts before today. If she had claimed outright that she could communicate with spirit beasts, wouldn’t that be nonsense?
But with the Iron-Eating Beast as an example, Elder Ling considered for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, come with me then.”
He led Yun Jin to the next group of spirit beasts.
These were five Bright Light Beasts.
The five little beasts had all suffered some injuries and were quietly licking their wounds.
Elder Ling sensed the Bright Light Beasts’ emotions. Overall, their emotions seemed stable, except for the smallest one, which appeared somewhat dejected.
Elder Ling began bandaging the emotionally stable Bright Light Beasts while trying to soothe the little one with his spiritual energy.
Yun Jin’s expression shifted as she looked at the Bright Light Beast huddled in the corner.
The group of Bright Light Beasts was chatting, their words falling unfiltered into her ears.
“Ah, little sister, don’t be sad. That Lightning Beast isn’t worthy of you!”
“Right! There are so many spirit beasts here. With little sister’s beauty, what kind of spirit beast couldn’t she find?”
“It’s just a Lightning Beast. So what if it looks majestic and powerful? So what if its attributes complement our species? I’m telling you now, our little sister is too good for it!”
“Yes, little sister will definitely find someone better.”
The little Bright Light Beast spoke weakly, “Better? Like who?”
Suddenly, all the Bright Light Beasts fell silent.
The little one sniffled, nearly crying.
Wuu wuu, the Lightning Beast really was the best after all.
Elder Ling was bewildered by the little Bright Light Beast’s sudden shift to sorrow…
Was this the unfathomable nature of a woman’s heart?
Even female spirit beasts were like this?
Elder Ling tried his best to comfort it, but to no avail. He could only temporarily treat the little Bright Light Beast’s physical wounds.
Its injuries weren’t severe. After treatment, the wounds visibly improved, but its mood remained terribly low.
Elder Ling grew somewhat troubled.
Suddenly, he remembered something and couldn’t help asking Yun Jin, “Little Jin, can you sense anything?”
As soon as he spoke, he gave a wry smile.
He was truly grasping at straws.
Yun Jin’s ability to guess the Iron-Eating Beast’s thoughts was already a miracle.
How could he expect Yun Jin to replicate that miracle?
Yun Jin smiled and said, “Elder Ling, it’s hard to say right now, but may I ask something? Is there a Lightning Beast in this area?”
Oh?
The little Bright Light Beast immediately looked up at Yun Jin.
Yun Jin winked at it.
The little Bright Light Beast lowered its head bashfully.
Elder Ling was surprised by Yun Jin’s sudden question, but he replied, “I only have one Lightning Beast here, but it’s at Foundation Establishment level and usually isn’t in this area.”
“Oh?” Yun Jin was somewhat surprised. “Then when did this little Bright Light Beast see it?”
“How did you know they’ve met?” Elder Ling was startled, then explained, “The different areas aren’t completely isolated. Sometimes I take them to the back mountain for fresh air. During the last outing, this Bright Light Beast was with that Lightning Beast. What’s wrong? Did the Lightning Beast bully it? It doesn’t seem like it. The little Bright Light Beast was very clingy with the Lightning Beast at the time.”
As Elder Ling spoke, the little Bright Light Beast grew anxious.
Ao ao ao ao.
It didn’t bully me!
Yun Jin smiled slightly and said, “It’s not bullying. How about this, Elder, take me to see that Lightning Beast. I have something to ask it.”
Though confused, Elder Ling saw that Yun Jin seemed quite confident and agreed.
The little Bright Light Beast looked at Yun Jin, visibly anxious.
Yun Jin reassured it, “Don’t worry, I’ll go ask and clarify things. If it really doesn’t work out, we girls must learn to let go when necessary!”
The little Bright Light Beast seemed to half-understand and nodded.
Elder Ling observed Yun Jin’s interaction with the spirit beast with a strange look.
How did she seem to understand the spirit beast language?
If she could really do this, what an extraordinary beast-taming talent it would be!
Could even those from the Four Great Holy Lands do this?
Perhaps not even them!
Elder Ling suppressed his amazement and led Yun Jin to the Foundation Establishment beast area.
Some Foundation Establishment beasts were also affected this time, but they had already been treated. The injured beasts were now asleep.
Led by Elder Ling, Yun Jin immediately spotted the Lightning Beast preening its fur with a smug look.
“This is it,” Elder Ling stepped aside, eager to see how Yun Jin would communicate with the Lightning Beast.
“Elder Ling, this is the little Bright Light Beast’s secret. It might not want you to know, so please don’t eavesdrop,” Yun Jin said apologetically.
Elder Ling: “…Alright.”
He reluctantly closed off his hearing.
Unable to hear, Elder Ling could only see Yun Jin seemingly say something to the Lightning Beast. Then she suddenly reached out and plucked a tuft of the Lightning Beast’s fur, which it surprisingly didn’t resist.
With the fur in hand, Yun Jin waved to Elder Ling: “Elder, we can go back now.”
Elder Ling suppressed his curiosity and returned to the Qi Condensation area with Yun Jin.
Then, Yun Jin gave him another apologetic look.
Elder Ling: “…”
He understood.
Wasn’t his understanding enough?
Fine, he’d keep his hearing closed.
He felt quite wronged.
The children he had raised with such care suddenly all had secrets from him.
Yun Jin said something unknown, and Elder Ling saw the little Bright Light Beast’s mood visibly improve.
This made Elder Ling even more jealous.
Had his position as the old father figure been superseded so quickly?
