Chapter 13: 13-Still not enough
Bundles of joy busted within the prince. Cassiel lit up his entire world in the few hours he'd known the man.
In his simple meaningful acts, he left no room for Prince Angelus to wonder what it would be like to be celebrated by someone else.
Their encounter was unbelievably winding. With captivating twists every passing second which made it particularly exciting.
There was a space inside of him that echoed his mother's name. Prince Angelus badly wanted his mother to be present to celebrate him.
The things Cassiel was doing for him were his mother's job. Prince Angelus accepted that on many scales, the queen failed him as a mother, but she always did right by him on important things. He longed for his mother. His happiness felt a little incomplete without her presence.
Cassiel handed Prince Angelus a knife for cutting the cake. He slithered around the prince and encircled his hand through the space between Angelus's hands and his body.
He snaked his hands over Prince Angelus's hands as the prince held the knife. Prince Angelus tensed; all of him felt Cassiel's body against his, the beat awakened, echoing memories of their time in the pleasure house.
"What are you doing? " he asked for the umpteenth time.
"Helping you cut the cake. Why? What do you think am doing?" he teased flirtatiously.
"Let me go before someone sees, " Prince Angelus urged.
Cassiel sneered. He slanted his head to the side with overflowing confidence and beaming pride that could be felt from a mile away and spoke, "I'll gouge out the eyes of anyone daring enough to look at you. "
He assisted the prince in cutting the cake. Prince Angelus cut small slices of the cake. He beamed with joy at how the smallest gestures by Cassiel warmed his heart and helped him forget his worries.
"Happy Birthday, darling, " Cassiel fed him a piece of the cake.
"Thank you, " He let out. Tired of scolding Cassiel against using intimate names with him. "Thank you for today, " he said, he fed Cassiel the cake and escorted it with apple juice.
They got seated down and had their dinner. Enjoying the countless delicacies on their table. Prince Angelus ate up the grilled pork and licked his fingers.
They made small talk while they ate and laughed heartily. The atmosphere was free and joyful. Two strangers brought together by chance enjoyed each other's company as they dined together.
"What else do you know of plans to depose me from my position? " Prince Angelus asked in between bites.
"Everything there is to know, " Cassiel lazily responded.
He gave an account of what he knew, word by word. The more he spoke and the truths he revealed left Prince Angelus appalled. The prince was flabbergasted and outraged.
Prince Angelus heeded Cassiel's words. He got to understand that people can do worse things than kill him.
"I can't believe this. How can they be so cruel? " he thought out loud. "I am the Grand Prince of Sevigoria, legitimate by birth to inherit the throne. "
"And yet you're still not enough, " Cassiel pointed out.
Silence envelopes the room for passing seconds. Prince Angelus contemplated his options, his father and his royal mistress were making him want to murder people. The list starts with their precious bastard son, Prince Augustus Voss.
Cassiel sat on the prince's lap. He proceeded to pepper feather light kisses all over Prince Angelus. Hoping in some way that they'll heal his wounds and give him peace.
He held Prince Angelus's hand in his much larger one. Gently squeezing it now and then to remind the prince of his presence.
"I feel like I could watch you the whole day. Everything about you has a touch of magic to it," he whispered sweetly.
"I don't remember the last time that I felt so free and happy with someone, thank you for today, Cassiel, " Prince Angelus expressed.
Cassiel traced Angelus's lips with his fingertip. Biting his lower lip in between his teeth, trying hard to resist the urge to kiss the prince.
Angelus looked up and met his lustful eyes. He lowered his gaze instantly in shyness, Cassiel stared at him like he was some delicious snack and he'd been starved.
Cassiel tilted his chin towards Angelus for a kiss. Cassiel brushes his lips against Angelus's, and immediately, Prince Angelus starts to forget himself and where he was.
He raised his chin to kiss Cassiel back. His heart starts to beat faster. Cassiel lightly sucks on his lips, causing a pleasurable shiver to shoot down Angelus's spine.
"Let me, " he murmured against Prince Angelus's lips.
The kiss was so passionate, so perfect that neither Cassiel nor Angelus opened their eyes after their lips parted. They took joy in a moment that was theirs.
Prince Angelus slowly opened his eyes. He felt a buzz in his chest at the lingering burning sensation on his lips from the kiss.
"Will I ever see you again?"
The Grand Prince felt too good to be true. Cassiel was certain Angelus was a beautiful daydream, and once dusk hit, he'd wake up to unyielding memories of him.
He raised the question at Angelus, but deep down, he already knew the answer. Cassiel saw the ambition in Prince Angelus eyes's. The prince's thirst for the throne far outweighed all his other yearnings.
One of the baggage that could cost him the crown is his preference for men in bed. It means that he can never sire an heir and the people would rather see him dead than have him rule. There was no way that Prince Angelus would risk his chances of being king for a passing fling.
"I don't make promises I know in my heart I can't keep, " Prince Angelus let out. "I'll leave that decision to fate. If it's meant to be then I believe we will meet again, " he added.
Cassiel grinned, pleased by Angelus's reply. It held hope for a second encounter but hope was a dangerous thing for a man with his past. Angelus's faith reminded him of his brother.
"I'm not of the habit of leaving anything to chance. Fate has a way of being unpredictable and people who depend on it always get disappointed, " his flirtatious mask fell, a hint of his true feelings revealed in his eyes. A distant longing echoed in his eyes as his mother came to mind.
Prince Angelus knew the pain in Cassiel's eyes. He's worn the same emotion so many times that it was etched in his mind.
"Is everything alright?"
His question snapped Cassiel out of his daze. He quickly masked his feelings and wore his radiant smile. "I'm Cassiel Stormborn, I'm perfectly fine."
