The Assassin's Legacy

" You, will pay for your betrayal in blood! Patricia yelled conjuring another illusory phoenix. Wulfe knowing the damage that the spell could unleash, quickly muttered another string of spells.

The red phoenix crashed into a dark towering shield; fading away as the shield sapped all the light energy contained in it. After this attack Wulfe followed it up with a chaos spell; that formed a massive dark sword directly above Patricia.

The sword in one swift movement swung downwards splitting through the air as it attempted to cleave the golden mage beneath it."You of all people should know the disadvantage of such attacks" Patricia commented raising her wand up high before she casted one of her signature spells in an extremely loud voice.

"ODRESIA!

A massive golden ankh rose above Patricia seconds before the dark sword shattered on striking the ankh.

"That is why there is something called multitasking" Wulfe smiled enhancing himself with air magic, making him to travel at extremely high speeds. An ice sword in an instant appeared in his hand and headed straight for Patricia's neck. She quickly conjured a flaming sword of her own just in the nick of time, protecting herself from the deadly slash. But then to her surprise the ice sword disappeared and a blinding pain coursed through her abdomen, seeing that she had been injured she disengaged from Wulfe; her hands clenching a bleeding belly while her wand conjured another spell, a spell that she only used in extremely dire situations.

Wulfe sensing the huge mana disturbance in the air, slashed again with his left dark sword hoping to kill her before she went through with whatever spell she seemed to be attempting.

Patricia still muttering strange words in elvish, tapped her foot on the ground conjuring a massive earthen shield that absorbed the dark energy before it scattered into little pieces. The battle continued like that with Wulfe attacking while Patricia kept on defending herself with order and light spell to counter attack whatever chaos spell that Wulfe threw at her. The hall; the site of this battle had been destroyed beyond repair, its windows and murals shattered, the walls cracked and the floors destroyed in many places while the furniture had been reduced to nothing but ashes. The banners depicting the phoenix emblem of the order had either been burnt by fire or were riddled with holes, courtesy of the archers.

"Just a little longer" Patricia thought, gritting her teeth while she rose into the sky to avoid a new barrage of chaos arrows.

"I better wrap this up" thought Wulfe,

after all he still had a runaway princess to capture. Seeing that most of his attacks had failed to meet their mark Wulfe snarled

" Fine have it your way"

and like Patricia he began to cast a mighty spell of his own. ************************************************

Emelda's eyes slowly opened. She looked around tiredly wondering why she was moving. "Where am I? she asked herself as she slowly recalled all of the past events that led to her losing consciousness.

After stopping to rest Emerald had to her surprise picked up the mana trace behind the entire darkness spell. This of course was strange because she had originally believed the forbidden spell caster to be the pale faced elf that had blocked their exit. On meeting the elves at the entrance, Emerald had come to the conclusion that the pale faced elf had simply faked it, something he had done in order to hide the presence of the real caster.

Emerald after piecing these truths together picked up her rapier and slowly made her way towards the front of the hall where the mana seemed to be at its strongest.

One can imagine the look on her face when to her greatest surprise, sitting on the podium was Wulfe in a dark robe staring at her with a gaze that didn't even try to hide the malice behind them.

"A superintendent? Emerald asked herself, gripping her rapier's hilt tightly as she warily observed Wulfe.

"Princess Emelda such a pleasure to meet you" Wulfe said descending from the podium "Don't make this hard for any of us, simply hand yourself over and I promise to convince the great one to give you a swift and painless death" Wulfe added smiling evilly while he walked towards the princess with long calculated steps.

The princess gave her opinion of his 'generous' offer by running forward with her rapier glowing in a bright light.

"A god rank possessing the powers of a superintendent" Wulfe clapped, inwardly praising the elf queen for hiding such talent from the notice of everyone.

"But alas experience always triumph over raw talent" he smiled stretching out his hand in one swift movement and ruining Emelda's momentum as he lifted her off her feet; his hands tightly covering her neck.

"PYRIA!

Emelda shouted unleashing a barrage of flames that flowed outwards from her hands until they enveloped Wulfe and the surrounding area in bright orange.

"Well done Princess" Wulfe commented before he grinned "But I'm afraid a spell of that nature can't harm me".

A snap of his fingers was followed by a dark wave of chaos energy that snuffed out of the flames and after that Emelda saw nothing but darkness.

A gentle voice from beneath her, brought her mind back to reality: "Nice to have you back Princess".

"Thank you for saving me Sir Hamilton" Emelda smiled "Though I'm pretty sure I can walk on my own".

"Are you sure? Hamilton asked confused on how she had recovered so quickly.

A nod from Emelda assured him and soon she ran by his side the sound of their running footsteps insignificant compared to the raging noises from the dance floor behind them.

Taking a look behind her Emelda's eyes opened wide in shock on sensing the huge amount of mana that seemed to be pouring out from the front of the hall.

Her mouth paused in a scream along with everything else as the whole castle came to a shocking stop. The two of them at the hall's door while the blinding fight between chaos and order stood frozen on the dance floor threatening to destroy everything in their path.
