The Alpha's Blood Hunt

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Blood Moon’s Fury

The clearing was a maelstrom of chaos, the air thick with the sounds of snarls, growls, and the clash of claws against shadowy flesh. The revenant loomed over the battlefield, its glowing red eyes piercing through the crimson light of the Blood Moon. Caleb Draven stood at the forefront, his dark fur bristling as he faced the creature head-on. The ancient blade, now glowing brighter than ever, was clutched tightly in his hand, its power pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat.

The Redfangs fought valiantly, their forms shifting between human and wolf as they tried to hold the revenant back. Marcus was a blur of motion, his claws slashing through the air as he took down one shadowy tendril after another. Kade, the hulking warrior, roared as he charged at the creature, his sheer strength sending it stumbling backward. Selene fought with calculated precision, her movements fluid and deadly as she targeted the revenant's weak points.

But the revenant was relentless. It seemed to absorb their attacks, its shadowy form reforming almost instantly after every strike. Caleb's heart pounded as he realized they were fighting a losing battle. The ritual had to be completed, or they would all die here.

"Nyra!" Caleb barked, his voice cutting through the chaos. "How much longer?"

The healer stood at the altar, her hands trembling as she continued to chant. The runes on the blade and the altar glowed brighter with every word, but the revenant's presence was disrupting the ritual. Nyra's voice wavered as she shouted back, "I need more time! The revenant's energy is interfering!"

Caleb's jaw tightened. They didn't have more time. The revenant was growing stronger with every passing moment, its attacks becoming more ferocious. Caleb could feel the strain on his pack, their energy waning as the battle dragged on.

"Marcus!" Caleb called, his voice sharp. "Take Kade and Selene—flank the revenant! Buy Nyra as much time as you can!"

Marcus nodded, his eyes gleaming with determination. He barked orders to Kade and Selene, and the three of them moved in unison, their attacks coordinated and precise. They managed to drive the revenant back, giving Nyra a brief moment of respite.

Caleb took advantage of the lull to assess the situation. The revenant was unlike anything they had ever faced. It wasn't just a physical threat—it was a force of pure darkness, its very presence corrupting the land around it. The trees near the clearing were withering, their leaves turning black and falling to the ground. The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the ground beneath their feet was cracking and crumbling.

Caleb's sharp green eyes locked onto the revenant as it let out a bone-chilling howl, its voice echoing through the forest. The sound sent a shiver down his spine, but he refused to back down. He tightened his grip on the blade and charged forward, his claws extended as he aimed for the creature's chest.

The revenant met him head-on, their bodies colliding with a force that shook the ground. Caleb's claws raked across the creature's side, but the revenant didn't even flinch. Instead, it turned its glowing eyes on him, its jaws opening to reveal rows of razor-sharp teeth.

Caleb barely had time to react as the revenant lunged at him, its claws aiming for his throat. He twisted, his body moving on instinct, but the creature's claws still grazed his side, leaving deep gashes in their wake.

"Fall back!" Caleb barked, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Regroup at the altar!"

The Redfangs obeyed, retreating in tight formation as the revenant howled, its voice echoing with a chilling, otherworldly resonance.

Caleb was the last to retreat, his green eyes locked onto the creature as it melted back into the shadows.

This was no ordinary enemy. And Caleb knew that if they didn't find a way to stop it, the Redfangs wouldn't survive the next encounter.
