Chapter 8: CH 6: Third Sim
"I'll do it…" Asher said, stepping in front of Derek.
"You sure?" Derek asked, a bit surprised.
"Yeah. Let's just move them to the forest. I don't want blood on my floor," Asher replied, grabbing two of the hunters and putting them over his shoulders.
"Good thing I brought my car, huh?" Derek said, lifting the third one over his shoulder.
"Yeah, sure. Come on." Asher walked to the door, but then paused as his eyes landed on the damaged wall where one of the arrows had exploded. "Damn it. I'm gonna have to fix that."
Derek laughed. "You might want to reinforce your windows while you're at it."
Asher let out a breath through his nose. "Yeah, thanks for the home improvement tips."
The two walked out, the unconscious hunters in tow.
—————————
In a quiet, isolated part of the forest.
"So uh, how do I even do this?" Asher asked, standing over the three unconscious hunters laid out in front of him.
Derek crossed his arms. "Are you sure you didn't already kill them? They've been out cold for a long time."
Just as he said it, one of the hunters started to stir. He groaned and tried to move, but Derek didn't hesitate. He stepped forward and punched the man square in the jaw, knocking him out cold again.
"So, not dead," Derek confirmed casually. "Anyway, can you hurry up? It's getting kind of late and I'm not trying to babysit you out here all night."
"Right. Umm. Why not just stab them through the heart?" Asher asked, glancing at him uncertainly.
Derek gave him a blank look. "That is cold. Heartless, even. No pun intended. Just do it however you want. I'll handle the cleanup."
"Right. Cool. Like that makes this any easier," Asher muttered. He took a deep breath and walked toward the first hunter, claws extending from his fingers.
"Come on, Ash, you got this," he whispered to himself, trying to psych himself up. Then he pulled his arm back and drove it forward with full force.
His claws punched through the man's chest, exiting through his back and digging into the dirt beneath him.
"Oh shit!" Asher shouted, yanking his hand back as blood poured from the gaping wound.
"Brutal…" Derek said with a smirk, clearly impressed.
Asher winced and held back a gag. "Egh…"
"You wanna know why it went through that easily?" Derek asked. "That's what happens when you've got werewolf strength. But I've got to say if I tried that, it wouldn't be that clean."
He leaned over and flipped the man's body over with one hand. "I mean damn. Straight through the guy. You're strong as hell."
"Huff… Let me just finish this." Asher grit his teeth and moved to the second hunter. He repeated the same motion, driving his claws into the chest. Then the third.
When it was done, he stumbled back, eyes wide, face pale. "Alright Derek. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go vomit my stomach out."
He turned and ran off towards his house, going home.
"Yeah sure. Just leave me with three corpses, no problem," Derek muttered under his breath as he started dragging the bodies.
—————————
Asher made it to his apartment and locked the door behind him.
"oh my god I just killed people…" he said in disbelief, then he smacked himself. "Get it together Asher, they tried to kill you first" he said calming himself down.
Then the system popped up infront of him.
[you killed 3 werewolfs hunters and you have receieved: 6 SP]
"I forgot about this…system what can I buy with the amount of SP I have now?" Asher said going to his room.
[current things you can buy:
Extra Reward Option (2 SP)
Guaranteed Trait (4 SP)
Guaranteed Good Bloodline(6 SP)]
"I see your trying to make things hard for me huh…" a good bloodline was good, but he didn't really want to waste all his points on just that, maybe next time.
He got up in his bed and waited until it hit twelve.
[Host, it is midnight. You have gained your daily SP]
"Great…start an underworld simulation with guaranteed trait" Asher said sitting back.
[Underworld Simulation has been started, Loading]
Asher waited for a little then it finished loading and then he started reading.
Race: Human
Trait: [Growth IV]
Effect: Rapid adaptation. Learns faster than others. Physical, mental, and combat progress accelerates noticeably over time.
Year:1875
Note: Carries a slight strain of Corvinus blood.
"Oh! I wouldn't never thought, guess it's my lucky day…"
[Year 3]
Asher begins forming full sentences before most children his age can string together basic words. He watches others do something once and mimics it perfectly. He learns how to climb furniture, unlock doors, and avoid being caught, all without being taught.
[Year 7]
He teaches himself how to use a bow. Not well, but enough to land three shots on a tree from twenty feet. A hunter in the village asks who trained him. Asher shrugs. He watched. That was enough.
[Year 14]
His strength increases rapidly. He lifts more than grown men. His reflexes sharpen. He disarms a local guard in a sparring match despite having no formal training. When asked where he learned it, he says nothing. The guard avoids him after that.
[Year 19]
A lycan attack leaves four homes destroyed. Asher fights one with a broken spear shaft. He survives. No one understands how. The creature dies from a crushed throat. Asher walks away bleeding but calm. His body recovers faster than expected. Suspiciously fast.
[Year 20]
He leaves the village without a word. No trail. No destination. Only intent. He wants to understand what he is. And more importantly, how far he can go.
[Year 21]
Asher is ambushed during a storm near the ruins of a forgotten outpost. A vampire elder emerges from the shadows, impressed by his strength and bloodline. He is bitten, turned, and left to awaken alone among broken stone.
Within months, he outpaces fledglings, surpasses the older ranks, and earns the attention of the court. His [Growth IV] trait accelerates his mastery of vampire abilities. Combat, strategy, and mental manipulation come to him quickly. He doesn't just learn the ways of their kind. He refines them.
By the end of the year, he is elevated to Vampire Nobility. The council recognizes him not for lineage, but for capability. Whispers begin. Some fear him. Others want to study him. He ignores them all.
"Yeah I'm not reading all of this" Asher said before he started skimming past the years.
[Year 40]
Asher's influence spans three territories. Local lords defer to him for military decisions. Some respect him. Others despise him. A few whisper that he is what the vampire race needs to survive the next century.
He ignores it all and continues preparing for something larger. The Lycans are changing. And he intends to be ready.
Then Asher skipped again.
[Year 60]
A Lycan army, over 300 strong, surrounds the mountain. Led by a powerful war-alpha who once fought under Lucian himself. Asher refuses to flee. He orders the youngest vampires and scholars to escape through the tunnels while he and the core guard hold the line.
The battle lasts for hours. His relics burn with use. His sword tears through dozens. His body takes wounds that would drop any lesser vampire. But he stands.
When the inner sanctum is breached, Asher detonates the lower chambers, collapsing the tunnels behind the survivors and trapping himself and the Lycans within the mountain's heart.
No one escaped that chamber. No one finds his body.
[Please choose your reward:
1 - Growth IV (Trait)
2 - Corvinus strain (Rare)
3 - vampire Strain (100% Mastery)]
"Alright, think about this the right way," Asher muttered, pacing slightly. "I could pick Growth and the Corvinus strain… but if I don't pick vampire…"
He paused, thinking hard, then threw his hands up. "Forget it. I can always get vampire later. Growth at Tier 4 is rare, and so is the Corvinus strain."
He selected options one and two.
[Would you like to be knocked out while the trait is being integrated?]
Asher laid back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. "Yes."
The moment the word left his mouth, everything went black.
—————————
The next morning.
Asher sat up in his bed. He didn't feel nearly as bad as the first time he got knocked out. In fact, he actually felt better.
After getting ready, he still had about an hour until school started, so he went and sat on the couch.
"System, what does the Corvinus strain do for me?" he asked, leaning back with his hands behind his head.
[The Corvinus strain leads to a significant increase in physical power and abilities. This includes enhanced strength and healing. You are now more resistant to silver and can recover from silver inflicted wounds. When you transform, your form will be larger and stronger than before. The Corvinus strain also enables you to become a hybrid after obtaining the vampire strain.]
"So a super powered lycan? Got it," Asher said, flexing his muscles with a smirk.
"Alright, let's get this day started," he added as he stood up, fixed himself some tea, and waited for the time to pass.
Later, when he got to school, he walked with Scott and Stiles toward the principal's office.
"So your dad's a sheriff?" Asher asked, glancing at Stiles.
"Yep. He's always catching me doing something I'm not supposed to be doing too," Stiles replied as he opened the office door.
As soon as the three of them stepped inside, Sheriff Stilinski who was talking to the principal looked up and started talking.
"Alright, Stiles, I came here to tell you and Scott that I don't want to see either of you anywhere near the preserve. Understood?" He paused for a moment, then added, "Also, there is now a curfew of 9:30 for anyone under 18. That includes you."
He leaned forward, his voice firm. "On top of the last body we found, we just discovered three more in the woods. Stiles, please, do not go into the preserve again."
"Alright, Dad, I understand," Stiles said with a sigh. "Come on, Scott, Asher."
As they walked out of the office, Stiles leaned in between them and whispered, "I heard they had fist sized holes in their chests, right through the heart. Scott, I bet you this has something to do with the wolf that bit you."
Meanwhile, Asher stayed silent, his expression unreadable. 'Oh how clueless you are, my friend' he thought as they walked down the hallway.
