Talentless Transmigration

Chapter 118: Testing

(---)

When Julian woke up, Stein had left. It was just him in that forest. He shook leaves and dirt out of his head.

"Ack..."

There was a note on the floor.

'I HAVE BUSINESS TO DEAL WITH. USE MY GIFT PROPERLY.'

. . .

. .

The break was finally over. Students flooded back into class.

Julian trudged through the crowd of students. He felt a little different. A little less anti-social.

"Today, we will be sparring with mana, yet again."

The teacher sat at the front. She was a short blonde-haired woman with dark brown eyes. She was pretty tall and appeared pretty young.

Mrs. Duem was an angel to the students. That's how beautiful she was.

⏤ All we do at this school is fight...

"People grow from fighting, don't you think?"

Julian felt a heavy slap on his back. He turned around, slowly.

It was his classmate, Reylana, an elf girl. She had light blue hair tied up loosely and light blue eyes to match. As an elf, her ears were sharp, and her skin was fair.

"Ah... who are you again?" Julian asked, awkwardly.

"You don't remember me? Seriously, Julian?"

Julian scratched his head. This was an extremely awkward situation.

"Stop teasing him, Rey."

A redhead smacked the top of her head. Reylana winced in pain.

"Ow! Ivy..."

'Ivy? That name is... awfully familiar.'

Julian looked at her, and she looked at him. Clearly, they remembered each other.

'It's that girl I... attacked at detention.'

'It's that kid who embarrassed me in front of everyone!'

"Hey... you're name is... Julian, right?" Ivy asked, a malicious smirk growing on her face.

"Yeah... I am."

"A duel will be fine, right? Mrs. Duem, would it be fine if me and Julian could show the class a demonstration on utilizing mana efficiently?"

Reylana watched as Ivy glared at Julian with nothing but evil intentions.

Mrs. Duem paused for a moment.

"Hm. That'll be fine, I suppose."

⏤ I wasn't even given the chance to agree or not!?!

. . .

. .

.

When it comes to mana, specifically elements, most people can control only one element. Being extremely gifted does not change this.

However, some can control two.

"3.... 2.... 1.... Go!"

⏤ I don't even know how to use this spirit! How can I get out of here with minimal damage done to my innocent face?

[Cast: Enhancement]

Blue energy began to glow, covering Ivy's body.

Everyone in the class watched.

⏤ Damn it! I had no intention of bringing this much attention to myself! But if it comes to this, I suppose I must fight.

Julian raised his guard up.

"..."

Ivy watched from a distance. Then, with one step, she dashed into the air.

[Cast: Water Toss]

Orbs of water formed around Ivy's body. She lifted her hand, and suddenly, the water orbs were sent flying at Julian.

⏤ So quick!

There was about 10 meters of distance between Ivy and Julian.

⏤ 12 meters, 12 orbs. 1 meter of space or so between each orb. With how fast these things are moving... I'll have to play it smart...

Swsh!

He ducked.

[Spirit Cast: Enhancement]

Mana glowed around his palms.

As expected, the spirit was not completely in sync with him.

Plus, he had only seen the cast once and had no full idea of it.

But this would be enough.

Ping!

He swiped one to the side. It crashed into the floor.

Another one. He swiped upward.

The rest, he successfully, evaded.

"Wow. I've never seen such utilization of [Enhancement]. A way to save mana! Something like that definitely required incredible focus!" murmurs in the crowd began.

"Hmph."

[Cast: Flashstep]

Ivy moved across the battlefield.

⏤ It's a little... slow, no?

Julian quickly blocked her strike.

"!"

"You have skill in mana, but you're pretty slow."

She quickly backed away.

"Shut up!"

[Cast: Jet Blast]

She lifted her palm, supporting it with her other hand.

Psh!

The water shot out!

The power surprised even Julian.

[Spirit Cast: Energy Wall]

A wall of mana was constructed, shielding Julian from the attack.

⏤ This... clearly won't last long!

He jumped out of the way. The shield cracked very quickly.

⏤Eh?

She split the stream, putting them in each hand. She flew toward Julian.

"!"

Julian did the same thing as before. He prepared for a block.

In a change of events, Ivy balled her fists.

[Cast: Jet Stream: Uppercut]

Ivy was a gifted individual. Creating her own casts at such a young age.

With the pressurized water boosting her speed, it was a strike too fast to dodge.

He did all he could do ⏤ raise his fists for a block.

But it was almost like she anticipated that.

Using the jet propulsion, she twisted her body, performing a wheel kick.

Her foot landed right on Julian's chin, sending him back.

With how fast she was spinning, there was no way she wasn't disoriented.

"Her application... her technique, it's amazing!" the crowd cheered for her.

The loss was on Julian.

⏤ Haah.... are all students gonna be like this?
